The ROG switches are quite squishy and not very fast/sharp, coming from a Logitech G502 Lightspeed. Fortunately they are hot-swappable, so I went on Amazon and got some Kailh GM 8.0's, which are amazing. Aside from being heavy, this mouse is great.

I have the original Spatha, but it lost the ability to create new macro's (software update), so my main mouse now is a Roccat kone aimo, which has been awesome for two yrs now. The Spatha is still plugged in, i just use it as a pretty looking point and click mouse on my sim rig now.
Mouse still worth it? any other suggestions for MMO's? I have the g604 and i love it but dude... the double click is killing me. Logitech fucked up this mice so bad.
I found this mouse a few days ago and so far its awesome. I am tall with big hands and its really hard to find a decent mouse. My beloved favorite device sadly is discontinued and maybe i found a worthy follower
I have this mouse for 2 days, the left click feels a little different from the right click, in the sense that it is softer than the right one and transmits a small vibration in the mouse; before I had the old spatha and I wanted an upgrade; there was no difference between left and right clicks. On spatha x the scroll wheel rotates easier and the click is easier. The back and forward buttons are easier to press on the spatha x. What bothers me the most is the left click, and here in the video a difference was noticed. I don't know whether to return it or not ...
Absolutely love this mouse, some people have really shitty opinions about it, because they can't appreciate its value. That being said, it's obviously not meant for people with smaller hands or people who use claw or fingertip grips. I'd like to see another manufacturer dare to make a mouse that has superior build quality and a large size. Because cheap quality small, light mice are fucking trash and they're not good for people with big hands.
I've been forced to use finger tip grip because I have large hands. Im hoping to be able to switch to claw grip with the spartha x. Other mice are too damn small (current mouse G 502)
Heavy? That's about as much as my current, ordinary (although large) office mouse, and since I've already got Armoury Crate stuck on my PC, might as well use that.
The Razer Naga Pro does not include the mouse wireless mouse charging dock whereas the ASUS Spatha X does. The Razer one will run you an additional $49.95 so consider that!
after using the logitech g604 for many years i found switching to this mouse very easy. This mouse is my hands down favorite. I tested the razer mouses but they were way too light and felt cheap. This mouse feels weighty and premium. pairs well with my asus pc and keyboard. Way better response than the g604 also.
I got the first one which is excellent but plagued by atrocious software and a rather disappointing battery life. Now I can't use it in wireless mode because of the stupid Armory software. So I'm not sure I would pull the trigger for this Spatha X, is ROG Aromry still that bad?
I have the first one. Using it in csgo was not too clunky for the weight, and I actually still love the angled side buttons as they are really easy to 'not have to think about' stab at them and I actually upped my knife kills because once I got used to them I could hit them faster. The center button's on the side is not easy to press, but the back 2 weren't too bad. I liked it.

I love the feel of the Spartha, but everything else is horrible. The software and firmware worked horrible together. Just switching from wired to wireless would break the profiles on the mouse. The wireless connection was terrible, I almost always had to use it wired. They slotted the usb cables so you can't swap them out easily... I'd be careful if you're expectation is something amazing from Asus peripherals, the Claymore was worse.
I just pick one up for the large size hot swappable buttons and charging dock. I will probably disable side buttons for the most part. imagine trying to lift the mouse with all those buttons.
Ive been using a pair of spatha since they were released (one for desktop one for couch) they have been the best mice I've ever used and never once found the weight an issue, the only real downside is you cannot buy spare pads for the bottom, annoying as I need to replace mine.

I would 100% use this mouse if it had the logitech scroll wheel unlock feature where it can free spin. Razer has tried to copy that feature but its just not the same. Personally I dont mind a heavy mouse. What matters more to me is the sensor and having at least 6 side buttons and the scroll wheel thing. Aka the G604 was my favorite but the g pro ruined logitech and innovating "moba" mice.
I have the Spatha, twice (first one had a problem, it just locked himself, no response) and it's starting to show his age. The scroll is lagging (obviously i open him up and clean him but still), the area where the ROG logo is, it's starting to peel off and recently is having some signal lag. I searched to see if i can buy a new one because i fu**ing love this mouse and then i saw Spatha X is launched. Definitely i will buy this mouse, i like it so much, the weight, the shape, functions, wireless...did i mention the shape? As a minus, this one comes only with the red 3D sticker when the old one comes with a red one and a silver. But other than that it's awesome (for me, at least)
i appreciate the multitude and placement of the thumb buttons, the extra index buttons, and the aluminium bottom, and the extra switches. But what the fuck? It's fuckin HUGE! What is this, a mouse for giants? As a medium size handed person with fingertip grip, I hate this, and I'll be waiting for the remake of the G9x... some day.
"89 x 137 x 45 cm" That is, without a doubt, a very large mouse 🤣🤣🤣 Dont you mean 168 kg?😁 jokes aside, i reaaaaally dont like how mushy the sidebuttons seem to be.... that flex 😬
Not sure you know how to use "antithesis." It has great battery life, dpi control, volume control, replacement switches with no soldering and remapping of buttons that all have a different shape to differentiate each one. All of which would put it in the running for "best mouse on the market"
It's an entirely subjective matter, and I assumed such a personal opinion didn't need a 'for me'. I grew up cleaning trackball rollers and thinking the intellimouse was humanity's greatest achievement; I've tried so many styles, and lived through so many fads. For productivity, I'd buy an MX Master, for fast twitch there's a world of great mice out there. For MMOs and complex games, a keyboard offers fast access to a multitude of intuitive, easy to find keys; you can even use one-handed modifiers like ALT and Control. The Spatha ( *for me* ) is far too heavy, far too cumbersome, and has a bunch of tiny buttons that are less effective than the ones already at my off-hand's fingertips. - The charging cradle is very nice, but power play et al is better. - It has some nice QoL features, but so do many better mice - It looks really good if you're into 'gamer' aesthetic, but doesn't feel great in the hand. Especially larger hands. - It's got lots of buttons, that are more awkward and less functional than the ones on your keyboard. In short, it fills a non-existent niche. I'll use my MX mice for my laptop, and my G Pro wireless for gaming. Doesn't mean it's not a great mouse for you two though.
@@EvilSockMonkeys Flippant remarks weaken your point, and make you appear churlish. All those features exist on better, cheaper, more ergonomic, less g@m3r oriented mice. @@literate-aside LOL. Your saying it sucks for large hands? What would your reccomend? My hands are large and wide, every mouse I've tried feel like there made for babies.
This mouse never made sense to me, the Corsair Scimitar and Razer Naga both have more buttons so are more suitable for MMO mice. Scimitar is wired and a third the price and the Naga is 2 third the price but wireless with 17 buttons so far better value.
Not heavy enough. :-) That leftside switch group looks naff. I'd want seperate caps on the switchs too; I wouldn't want any chance of an adjacent switch depressing. Not that the Naga looks any better! Really I'd have to handle it but that left hand switch group isn't selling it, neither is the scrunchy paracord. They didn't nick this off of Thermaltacky originally did they? It seems a little half arsed and un-finished.

Memory leaks in software, mouse cannot even connect to asus sdk anymore, error 4000. Like srly wtf. Personally I dont mind a heavy mouse. What matters more to me is the sensor and having at least 6 side buttons and the scroll wheel thing. Aka the G604 was my favorite but the g pro ruined logitech and innovating "moba" mice.
If this was out a half a year ago, I would get it. I love heavy mouses. But now hard to move away from Logi MX.
It’s been out for years lol
@@Shark00n1337 No it hasn't, it got released in August 2021. You're getting confused with the OG Spatha model lol.
I just got this mouse and it is too heavy and the left side buttons are placed back to much. Not an ideal mouse. I might return it
I play multiplayer fps games with a controller and use keyboard and mouse for single player games cause im still learning keyboard and mouse
Aim assist is way too OP on controller, most ppl don't use M&K for that exact reason.
@@StardustLegacyFighter that may be true but keyboard and mouse is kinda difficult to get used to if you’ve never used it before
I have the Spatha, twice (first one had a problem, it just locked himself, no response) and it's starting to show his age.
But other than that it's awesome (for me, at least)
after just 6 min. you made me decide it wasn't for me... thanks
Pleasure !
I find any mouse useless that doesn't have wheelLeft/Right Click. The most easy to click buttons.
i appreciate the multitude and placement of the thumb buttons, the extra index buttons, and the aluminium bottom, and the extra switches.
But what the fuck? It's fuckin HUGE! What is this, a mouse for giants?
As a medium size handed person with fingertip grip, I hate this, and I'll be waiting for the remake of the G9x... some day.
looks good i just got it on amazon for a $100
Good deal !
Still enjoying the heck out of my razer basilisk ultimate gaming. Keep up the great work you guys and stay safe.
What a nice mouse
"89 x 137 x 45 cm" That is, without a doubt, a very large mouse 🤣🤣🤣
Dont you mean 168 kg?😁
jokes aside, i reaaaaally dont like how mushy the sidebuttons seem to be.... that flex 😬
think for the Price the Base should all be metal and why not just add another $150 and make it a Titanium Mouse!
Tried the OG Spatha, sold it within days. It's like the antithesis of the best mice on the market.
It really isn't, just because small and lightweight mice are popular, doesn't mean they're better.
- It has some nice QoL features, but so do many better mice
- It looks really good if you're into 'gamer' aesthetic, but doesn't feel great in the hand.
If you need to disagree with me to justify your purchase, go ahead, as I said above, it's all subjective anyway.
One man's plasticy, overweight compensator, is the extension of another man's ego/member. You do you.
@@literate-aside LOL. Your saying it sucks for large hands? What would your reccomend? My hands are large and wide, every mouse I've tried feel like there made for babies.
i bought this mouse for microsoft office
Nice review..I agree..the side switches should of had some kind of update..Would of loved a joystick style on the side
Like the Chakram?
As someone who actually has the mouse, the switches are perfectly fine.
Finally a mouse made for real men!! 🤣 I just ordered one and should have it today. I prefer a larger heavier mouse and they are getting harder to find these days. This looks like a mouse that Tim The Toolman Taylor would be envious of! I also love the metal base and the ability to easily repair or upgrade it. I just thought of something...I can add weights to it and make it even heavier!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!👺🙃. Great review!!!
Enjoy!😉
This peaks my interest. I have kinda meaty hands and have an ironclaw mouse. I like the size but want heavier
This would be perfect for you lol.
Неужели для call of duty не подойдёт...? Очень хочу взять..но вот не понятно...рпг только?!
This guy said "fingertip grip" 😂
I was looking into getting one of the last regular spatha models
Untill I saw this video
Same, Although the X also has the ( better ) updated optical sensor - The original has the laser sensor / ive debated and im just about convinced to go ahead with it
It reminds me of volcanic glass
That is one cool looking mouse! I use the Logitech MX Master 3 which is amazing! But I wish had one of these as well! :D
Seems as if this one is aimed at to kick your carpal tunnel syndrome just as Leonidas did in 300 😏
VG review Andy 👍🎉. However, Asus dropped the ball on design with a rehash of an old gamer aesthetic, additional buttons unreachable, over priced (ROG and Gamer Tax) low polling rate for the price. Bad product imo. The size will suit some, but other then that, is a poor product.
You don't need a polling rate higher than 1000Hz, no matter how expensive the mouse is. It's nothing more than a marketing tactic.
I've got the x it's "heavy" says my roommate lol
the mousewheel could have left and right buttons... its really a reason not to buy it
ASUS ROG Spatha X good
Have the original but ASUS is the King of bloatware and crappy software....buyer beware.
Yeah, the software could be better optimised, but that's the only weak point of this mouse imo.
I still believe Alienware is worse
@@Ninja_PL-xsFor sure but they aren't relevant anymore. They used to be when they made stuff that looks like today back in 2004 or something.
I mean, it works. Logitech g-hub would like a word...
Nope.. razer software is the most annoying crap. The second you plug something in, BAM.. in your face
al menos regalenme el mouse po mano, la baja
I play fps with this mouse. Yal just weak
Why would you get a mmo mouse with only 6 buttons on the sides. Wouldn’t you need to have like 12 for all your ability in games like WoW
It has 12 because you remap the other buttons not just the side buttons
This channel has way too many adverts to enable me to watch this video comfortably. Will be avoiding this channel in future.
sorry you feel that way, its hard to pay everyone without adverts. But you can always hit the timestamps to avoid them. Sorry to see you go. take care - KG team.
Too bad it's so damn expensive...like 200$ cdn...lol
I'll just continue to use my Logitech G700 mouse. Works just fine.
decent mouse
GARBAGE SOFTWARE
I have old spatha - works even today. But software updates are killing my mouse and me.... WTH asus with this trash? Memory leaks in software, mouse cannot even connect to asus sdk anymore, error 4000. Like srly wtf. I just want to change dpi, turn off lights and change refresh rate to 125 instead of 1000, rocket league lags like fck...
Terrible mouse... I wanted to like ASUS mouses, but none impress me.
wow
The plural of mouse is mice, not mouses.
@@StardustLegacyFighter with the animal actually when it comes to computers, mouses and mice can both be used and are both correct
The mad catz rat pro x is way better
“Republic of Gamers” worst thing I read all day.
Wow, what an ugly mouse with a nice "gAmEr" tax on top
150 pounds are you sure about that
As in money
Clip your finger nails wtf lol
