    I've never drank before but my twin started at 14. At the age of 30 now I look about 21 and he looks about 35. It's insane how differently we've aged. It's like looking into the future. He also randomly smoked when drunk but never smoked regularly. He drinks 3-4 times a week though and got really big into partying in college. My mother never drank either and she looked young until her 50s. Could be just our genetics + alcohol or some form of correlation, but I think it's an interesting outcome.

      Iv never drank in my life too and thier are big benefits that people don't bring up, I'm 36 and look in my late 20s, the one who don't drink and party success is very easy for that person because he is less distracted. My kids benefit alot because when I'm off I'm not drank so all I can do is spend time with kids. Kids develop much better when parents are involved so no drunk weakened no hang over success is very easy. The list goes on

    In the US, the average drink (12oz beer, 5 oz wine, or 1.5 oz liquor) contains about 14 g of alcohol. Not 40 g. The "one drink of 40 g" mentioned in this video is more like 3 average drinks. And 150 g is closer to 10 drinks which will probably *definitely* hinder gains made on the gym.

    • @benfontenot9896
      @benfontenot9896 8 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      ***** I agree that alcohol isn't going to hurt your gains much if any when drinking in moderation. The problem is that when I usually drink it ends up being more than moderation and that is what can really hurt your gains. Just better for me to refrain from alcohol altogether.

    • @haktezak7413
      @haktezak7413 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      well i can tell you that one night of semi to heavy drinking definetly wont destroy your gains or have any big impact to you. it would have if you are on strict diet and you are really REALLY DEEP into a prep for some big competition, but I am pretty sure you arent and one crazy night wont affect shit. but hey, its your life, do whatever you fucking want. i know that i workout 5 times a week, have 8 hour work time and that end of the week I drink, alot. Why? cause i want let my mind free, let it flow and be relaxed for atleast 1 night. Let gym be important part of your life, but dont let gym be your life.

    just one thing: REM sleep is not the "deepest" but actually one of the shallower stages of sleep. when you first fall asleep, you go into REM, then you go into deeper sleep and come up to REM after about 80 minutes and repeat cycle. REM is also the last stage before you wake up.

    • @PictureFit
      @PictureFit  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ron Togunov What I've read is that you initially go into the first stage of sleep then all the way to stage 4 (actual "deep sleep"). From then, you cycle back through the stages but during the second half of sleep, stage one is replaced with REM. That's why it's considered as part of the latter stages. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @rontogunov282
      @rontogunov282 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PictureFit Google image search"REM sleep cycle". When we sleep, we go through about 5 sleep cycles per night, with each cycle containing several stages of sleep (REM and sages 1-4). You go into REM as you fall asleep, before waking up, and at the end of each 90 minutes cycle.

    If your 3 drinks contain 150g of pure ethanol, that's 50g per drink, so 125g of 40% vodka in one drink. Respect man :D

    Alcohol increases insulin sensitivity. It also causes your liver to stop producing glycogen so that explains why you might get more hungry. If you are fat it might be bad but if you are an ectomorph it might actually help you. I quit drinking for a long time and I just started again. I actually have put on a lot of size and im very lean still. Some things you have to just figure out through trial and error. They say some facts about alcohol but leave out others. Alcohol is found in nature and we may be meant to have some of it. There are 100 year old people that drink a shot every morning.

    There is some mistake: REM is not the deepest sleep-phase, it's a very light one, where waking up is very possible. The deepest phase is the SWS-Phase (slow-wave-sleep).

    I find 3-4 alcoholic beverages before a workout is ideal. You're right at that point of not giving a f!@# so you go for heavier weights than your sober self would. All this while still maintaining the proper coordination to not get hurt.

    I had wine on the elliptical once, it was only once but it was fun. Got those steps in!
    I save drinking for my rest days and drink moderately, and my progress has been very good. Don't drink and eat junk afterwards obviously. I don't usually eat or snack while drinking. I feel it doesn't change anything if your diet is on point and you're staying active to maintain your weight and aesthetics, but it gets in the way when you're trying to go into very low BF and can't eliminate those most stubborn remaining bits of fat.

  • @RWDtech
    @RWDtech 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay, so it's bad for your body...but I still go to the gym every day after drinking unless its an already scheduled "off day". And after drinking, I drink a lot of water before going to bed and then again in the morning to re-hydrate. I also don't let myself overeat when drinking. I typically have a light meal like a salad before going out, then if I have an irresistible urge to eat after drinking all night, I get the leanest meal on the menu. So drinking is bad for gains, but only your worst enemy if you have no self discipline. Good video!

    Even if I don't want to, I drink a glass water every drink or 2. It doesn't reduce at all the alcohol in your body, but helps you stay a little bit more hydrated.. and the day after I'm fine even if I pour down half a bottle of hard alcohol.

    Honestly, what I noticed more than any of the protein synthesis stuff is that alcohol will make you gain fat and will mess with your dopamine, your gaba receptors, serotonin, and cortisol levels... as well as other hormones.. I'm done drinking for a while. It sucks that majority of my friends drink..Alcohol is a pretty stupid substance though. If you don't think so, try going to a lively bar street while sober at night time on the weekends. Just see how it makes people act.
