  • This is the eightieth in a series of videos I’m going to produce to document the building of my Trumpeter 1:200 model Titanic. In this episode I cover:
    - Removing the lifeboats from support material.
    - Starting the paint job.
    If you want to see more regular updates have a look at my Instagram page (same name as the channel). I post photos as I'm building there so you don't have to wait for the videos to be edited!

    You should pull a fast one on everyone and put on the original number of lifeboats the titanic was SUPPOSED to carry, Also, first

    Hi Rob, nicely done as usual. I was quite surprised that the supports were placed in such a sensitive place on the boats but you did a cracking job on the final finish. At least your other boats found the best home possible!!😀 Looking forward to the next exciting episode. All good here, actually progressed a bit on the hull brass integration to the hull. By the way, I don't think that you have enough boats for the little people!!!! Speak soon. Regards JH 😉⚓

      Hi John,
      As you say the supports are in a slightly tricky place. That said I do have an older set of China 3D boats, i believe the positioning and number of supports on the newer printouts have been improved.
      I’m confident we have enough boats… what’s the worst that could happen?
      Cheers!
      Rob

    Agreed, great job as always Rob. Kinda sad you’re getting close to finishing! I hope you have something else in the works for a new project. Thanks for the safety tips regarding resin. Keep cracking!

      Hi there, same I’m getting a wee bit sad it’s going to be over soon too, but all things end I guess! Just have to make another model after it!
      Thanks for the comments 🙂

    Noooooo!!!! What an ending. The most unexpected ending for the lifeboats 😂

    When you're done with that model then you should make a 1:1 scale titanic model with full working insides

      Might be slightly beyond me! Never was good at riveting

    I use an electric hot knife very cheap from Amazon just plug into a plug socket and it has various blades and tips , also a coat of mr surfacer 1000 acts as a micro filler which helped get those small dents on top of the china 3D boat covers

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aye I really need to get a hot knife! Burning through craft knife blades (quite literally)!
      Also need to get some mr surfacer 😅

    Is it different to paint resin parts instead of the normal plastic parts?

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really, same processes such as cleaning them first with alcohol to get grease off. I don’t tend to show these as I have shown them many times before. But really no different to plastic.

    At least there's less lifeboats than Bench's, fancy not having more white paint I can let you have some special price to you 20 pound a can (ha ha ha).

      Appealing offer like! Yeah conspicuous lack of lifeboats on this ship…
