Not only am i amazed by your modeling skills but by how little trouble you have with CA glue. I know its vital to assembling these kits especially the PE parts . I have been assembling models from plastic kits for 50 years to recently in the past ten years a O scale model railroad layout with hundreds of thousand of parts and always have a battle with CA glue. You have every thing set up correctly and one of these things always happen. The glue doesn't set up and hold or the glue is on the tweezers and sticks to everything but where you want it. I love watching your videos because you inspire me not to give up on the hobby I love. It would be great to show what type of CA glue you use and how you avoid these problems. Amazing work.
Thanks! It’s just “Bob Smith’s CA Glue”. I like the medium thickness stuff. Sometimes you need a little accelerator. Or, blowing on the glue actually works as a kicker as well. They key to making sure it doesn’t stick to the tweezers is keeping it off the tweezers in the first place. (I know, easier said than done.) But if they get glue on them, hold the tips to a flame. It will burn all of the glue off in an instant. Helping you to try again.
Great work, Thanks. I remember building Entex's 'Late Great Titanic' model in 1978. After a few years of kids playing with it, I decided to make it the sunken version. I made sandy bottom in one of our unused aquariums and set the ship on the bottom with a faint light lighting it. Then, Robert Ballard showed us it was in two pieces and in terrible condition!! I never had the inclination to break it apart. Since the Trumpeter Version videos are so amazingly helpful, I may have another go! Thanks again.
The detail is looking amazing Ben. Just a wee bit of history re the extra unfitted lifeboats. It wouldn’t have mattered if there had been more lifeboats provided. When the ship sank, they launched 18 boats. The final 2 just floated off the deck because they didn’t have time to launch them. It wouldn’t have mattered if they had 32, 48, or 64 lifeboats onboard. The fact is they only managed to launch 18 boats in 1 hr 40 mins.

for added detail inside the cutter should be the oars , the folded down mast with the sail rolled up and a barrel shaped water keg /floatation device ( much smaller than a conventional barrel ) or a life ring plus the detached rudder and a couple of bill hooks ( useful for fulling people out of the water )
You have the patience of a priest. In 1965 I purchases revel’s Constitution. My sister took the time to paint the interior walls of the captains cabin. The hull was put together along with the masts. The hull half’s were reenforced with epoxy got a good seal. The main deck was painted with varied tones of brown, then brushed from bow to stern following the wood grain, the sanded to dull it out and let the grain of the wood show off. In 1977 I moved from Las Vegas to Dallas….the Bekins movers put together a weird-looking box…..the ship arrived in perfect condition…..Now it sits in my office, unfinished with a damaged bowsprit after my wife placed a candle near it. Now after losing some of my sight, the shit will never be completed. I really onfoyed watching your videos….I’m going back to watch the whole series, How did you ship (no pun intended) it to the customer?.Stay safe.

Nice work .. I been working on mine about 8 months and almost at the finish line with the mk1 kit.. I don’t know if you notice but this kit for me has been the most time consuming complicated some time challenging model of all my 1/200 scale ship models 😮😅 I ever build… keep up the good work you are almost finish too lol…🤙🏼
It’s taken me longer than it should, too. I blame the poor instructions on the detail sets. I spend about 25% of my time trying to figure out what I’m supposed to do next.
Do you want to install the aft mast when you have the docking bridge to install on the aft deck. The model looks incredible, such insane detail, you are doing an incredible job on this build!
I've watched the Arizona, Missouri, and now the Titanic all come together beautifully. The level of detail is simply astounding in each build. I very much like the Shop Talk videos as well. One question, putting together bits for Titanic build myself (1/400) and was curious what is the reddish brown color you're using for the crane bases and side of the inner hull. I can't recall when they were painted up so I can't find the video. Thanks!
I put down a base coat of flat white. Then a light coat of Model Master Skin Tone Warm Intensity. (A ridiculous name for a color). Basically I looked at colors available to me locally and selected something that looked “right”.
would have been good to show the clean up process to avoid damaging the boat after your initial removal from the support frame as I found the fore and aft areas were tricky to keep them undamaged

I''m on my second Titanic and looking to up grade certain parts. I don't want to buy the KA kit at 330.00; but am looking for only sheet "O" with the forward ands aft well deck bullwork details. I have emailed Woody's and KA with no response. I know you have both the KA and Pontos kits.If you have any spares or any ideas where I can purchase said items it would be appreciated. Of course I've been following your builds for months now.
I do not know of a 1:100 scale Titanic. Some one would have to scratch build that scale so I would imagine it would be more than the average person would be willing to spend.
when not in use the kelvins were covered by a wooden cabinet cover , China 3d have them on the deck bits 2 set so you don't have to build them , I'm building one covered and one on display

HI ben one thing I've found out with this kit is there is no tie hooks on the deck for the rigging. and can you tell me what size battery do I need to make the lights work I've tried a 5 volt but no good
You need to match the voltage of the LEDs. If you’re using the kit lights, it will be in the instructions. For aftermarket lights, use the power source recommended by the manufacturer.
More lifeboats wouldn't necessarily have saved more people anday have even killed people. Only 18/20 boats were actually launched (the last 2 floated off the deck). Had there been more boats that stayed tethered to the ship and maintained buoyancy the lines would eventually snap and send the boats rocketing to the surface where they could hit people. Also, lifeboats at the time were intended to ferry people between the stricken vessel and the rescue craft so they wouldn't have needed to be filled all the way (granted the crew probably knew there was no help nearby).
I can't believe you're going to ship that. Is there any way that you could squeeze your client for gas money? Something this big is worth a road trip just for safety.
Sort of. I was asked to build a wood base that supports the ships on all sides. The contact points are foam with small bubble wrap. Then two butterfly bolts go up into the hull (some communications about this earlier in the build would have resulted in nuts being installed, but the client doesn’t intend to move it after it arrives at his house) this is to keep the ship from lifting off the base. Then the moving company is going to build a box/crate around this whole thing and off it goes. Similar to how things are shipped to the Smithsonian. Now, am I convinced it will arrive damaged free? Maybe. But I’m going to try to make sure it has a real chance of making it. And the customer used to build models so I’m sure if something comes loose he can fix it. I did ship another model to a guy in California and the model arrived unscathed. So I guess this method does work.

I just hit it with a sanding stick. I didn’t have any trouble which is why I didn’t show it.
