It's been brought to my attention that my voice over gets cut off early at 1:17:55 or so. Fucking lame as hell, no clue how that happened, but I simply said "...contrast how they first met, as Cal seemed all too eager to take her down if she posed a threat." Dorkaxe discord server link: discord.gg/rnmSP9FQQg Support me on patreon: www.patreon.com/dorkaxe Follow me on twitter for updates on the channel: twitter.com/darkaxe54 Funny enough, I didn't just say Bogano differently depending on the sentence, it turns out that in my own script, I went back and forth, calling it Bogana and Bogano interchangeably. Good stuff.
35:47 I like to think that because of Cal's inherent ability to sense objects and people and the history related to them, meditation points are a way of Cal sensing his potential to fail. Every death the player has is Cal seeing all the ways he could fail in his journey, and when the player succeeds, it's the true ending for Cal. Just something i thought of in my playthroughs of both Fallen Order and Survivor.
That was kinda my theory too while playing it, especially since there's the whole meditation thing linked to respawning. It's not so much "coming back to life" but more "waking up from daydreaming about whether or not it would hurt more if I used the force pull on an incoming rocket"
I'm surprised that you didn't mention what is, in my opinion, Cal's best character moment. When he's facing down Vader who says "You would be wise to surrender" and Cal just says "Yeah. Probably" and holds his stance. Great video though! It was especially great seeing you break down the clunkyness of the combat and difficulty of the last boss that I always felt but never understood.
It is a fun back and forth, but Cal's confidence was never in question for me, he was always willing to stand up to a difficult situation, especially if it meant helping others.
44:38 This mechanic is actually further evidence of Meditation checkpoints working like Cal meditating on the future paths. One path leads to failure, trying that path again results in reclaiming that failure. I like it. If it were more explicit instead of being so subtle, I think that the feature would be more widely appreciated.
That was such a cool double lightsaber part with the 9th sister! You got to love when you can do something in a game like this that legit feels like you're in a movie that you have some control over! Ha ha that trooper shooting at you during your last test as a kid was a really smart way to play into your anticipation as a player :P lol wow...that turn at the end with him destroying it without talking about it...wowwwww
Good review. What really annoyed me was the chasm between easy and medium difficulty. A balance between those two and I'd have felt more forgiving to its shortcomings.
This video stands out as the most balanced and fair critique of the game I've seen. Unlike other reviews that seem to criticize just for the sake of it, often focusing on aspects that don't actually impact the overall experience, this one addresses issues that genuinely matter, including gameplay, story, and other key elements. It's refreshing to see a critique that offers a thoughtful and well-rounded perspective on the game's strengths and weaknesses.
Great, another manditory dorkaxe video. You’re the man dude I was always curious about this game and there’s no one else’s 2 hour video I would consider watching instead 🎉🔥🤘💯💯💪 and my bad on not responding to your comment before - my current video in the making is for Enter the GUNGEON 😜😎😎
23:45 i had similar thoughts when i initially played the game. As a long time souls veteran and fan of sekiro i felt spat in the face with how difficult ogdo bogdo was. It wasnt until a year later when i rebooted the game and decided not to fight him right away is when i fell in love with the game
So Cerra used the dark side cause she was angry, yet she couldn't use the Light side of the force cause she maybe could have been determined or focused to get out of the torture. Anyways the worst thing is the light side of the force uses literal mind control, and yet the dark side uses a force choke at worse like what!!!!!
I'm not really the biggest Star Wars fan, I grew up with the prequels and these days I honestly barely check anything they put out but this game actually managed to get me a few times, those opening moments in that junkyard were super cool, I felt so immersed in the world seeing them just there like it's totally normal for something that huge to just be junk, it felt so much more real than exclusively seeing them in space being blown up And heck BD-1 got me too, the whole game I was like "Listen you little fucker, I know they want me to like you so that they can destroy you later and make me sad" but God damn it he is so cute and loyal, by far the best droid that's been put in Star Wars for years Even wilder that this is an EA game and it actually made me feel something more than disdain a few times The game did feel a bit lacking in scope but I can forgive for being the first entry in a series, they're never going to get everything perfect first try...haven't picked up Survivor yet but I've heard some not so good things, though largely about the performance
It’s things like this that make me angry with TH-cam like what the hell a great hour and a half video on Star Wars with only 3.8k views. I’m at least glad I was recommended this video as a newcomer.
I never really understood the hate for this game. Every Star Wars game is just a rip off of another game. Battlefront II was just Battlefield but Star Wars. Force Unleashed is just God of War but Star Wars. And KOTOR is just bio-ware making one of there usual RPG but in Star Wars. Thats what make Star Wars games so awesome. It allows younger gamers to play a action game like God of War without all the "side modes" that game had. Overall the story was interesting and the combot was fun. Force abilites with saber combos led to combat never getting boring. And the sequel expanded upon all of this. I cant wait to see what Respawn does with the 3rd jedi survivor game
stumble upon your channel, while I searched for a dying light Review, bought the game Because of your view on it and dont regret it at all. Love your Content, i hope you keep up the great work. Great Video as usual And sry for my lackluster English, its not my native Language 😅
Another great long video (especially another star wars game) can't wait to finish it. An unrelated recommendation from me anyway, I had been wondering if or when you'd do an RPG for the channel. I'd might recommend Morrowind in this case as to this day it holds up a lot (especially the magic system)
Haven't watched the video yet, but I wanna say my piece on this game. When it came out it was bugged to all hell. I don't know if I could call the game good after experiencing that. Cyberpunk 2077 was less buggy on my PC at release than this game.
Yeah when it came out i saw how buggy it was and was really dissapointed. I was doubly dissapointed that everyone was loving it in the current buggy state it was in. Our standards have truly fallen
Good stuff. I'm not actually a Star Wars fan. I'm surrounded by people who love it and I'm honestly burnt out on all things Star Wars and Marvel for that fact. This game was something I considered getting but it being Star Wars always sort of made me care about it less because I'm just not a fan of it. I however like how the game itself looks and is a neat way for people to step a toe into Dark Souls like combat since it's reputation as being hard can be quite alienating to some as I actually witnessed a friend go from this to the Souls games after a few convos where we discussed similarities
Great vid, I'll admit I'm much more into Jedi Survivor than this game, but have played FO a decent amount and watched my sister do a story mode playthrough (she would unlikely game much without me as her older sibling lol). This video was good at highlighting a few gameplay things I hadn't noticed early on, and even though I wasn't disappointed by at least the broadstrokes of the ending, more interaction before it would've been nice as you said, and I found your view of the story to be interesting and enlightening in parts. Watched RepCom vid and this one to subscribe, look forward to your thoughts on Jedi Survivor and diving into your other videos Star Wars or otherwise.
This slog of a game already has walking simulator parts and braindead platforming and you want to add tedious fuel management? I also like how every reviewer seems to leave out how you cant skip the cutscenes killing all replayability. @@Dorkaxe
I just couldn't shake the feeling that this game is just a bad version of Dark Souls when I played it around release. It feels unresponsive sometimes, clunky at others. Great video as always!
He's honestly excluding the fact that the bosses are extremely if not almost certainly impossible to beat on the first try let alone the 5th or 6th oh and also they don't stagger also got to include the stupid idea of limited Force use and stamina
The game was aight, they need to lose the Dark Souls bonfire system though it for real tiresome especially in the sequel. I think a standard checkpoint system would be a better fit for these games.
A true game in this era of over saturated battlepasses, season mechanics, and microtransactions. Half finished games realesed at 60-70 dollars make this game look like a golden child. If gaming were in a better place, this game would be a 6, maybe 7. But alas, I deem it a 9/10 Also just curious what difficulty this review is based on? Perhaps I missed that detail.
It's crazy how similar my sentiments resemble yours, even down to the customization options we both went with. I also picked the yellow crystal with the yellow poncho and I felt something about the gameplay was off the entire time and had to start from the beginning multiple times. I thought Bogano was boring af, the game was always a buggy mess, I didn't know who tf Taron Malicos was supposed to be, and ended up noting in a Steam review that there were about four moments that made the whole thing worth it lmao
i want to love survivor so bad but it runs ATROCIOUS, i can run fallen order with ultra+ mods and still get solid fps meanwhile jedi survivor can't even break 30 to 40 on low settings on middle high end pc parts 😭
My problem with this game isn’t that it’s not original. It’s that the elements it takes from other games are really bad. Shallow skill trees, uncharted platforming, etc. you covered them extensively. With so many options and so little time to actually live a life, it’s games like this that do more than steal your time and money. They kill your drive to play games at all. I’m 25 and after a few more experiences like this game I might just stop purchasing new games entirely. Wait…. I already did lol haven’t bought a new game in 5 years except Diablo 4 and yeah that games sucks ass too. Hooray games.
Far cry 3 was super fresh at the time and even still fun when I played the remastered(or hd) version a while back ! Would love to see your opinion on any of the FC games!

Finally
why the hell would you want fuel management in a star wars game? it would grind the fun to a halt. it's not a survival game.
