I need to see this. I had imagined something of this sort years ago, but instead of the freezer, i just thought of using an old soviet heater (the cast iron ones), some piping and probably an electric waterpump.
One note: even without spilling vodka coolant all over the PC, sub-ambient cooling is risky. You're going to get condensation all around the CPU which will lead to a dead motherboard if you don't add a lot of insulation around the block and conformal coating to the board.
@@TeenPerspektiva That one was cooled with a radiator, and a radiator cooled with room temperature air won't get cooler than the air in the room. Evaporation happens if the coolant is below ambient, without a chiller the vodka won't get cooler than ambient temperature.
@@TeenPerspektiva that's not impossible. The thing is, a PC makes a lot of heat and a liter of vodka doesn't have much heat capacity. So if it were a dry day it might not have enough time to make much condensation before the liquid was back up to ambient. Which makes it very pointless because you are risking damaging your computer for all of 20 minutes of super-cooling
@@TeenPerspektiva What he did was place the vodka bottle into the freezer/fridge, but then take out the cool/cold liquid and pour it into the reservoir to use it as coolant - so better result only for a while.
Thank you Boris for making me laugh every new video you make. Keep up the great work and say "miaooooouuu" (not sure how to spell it) to Artyom from me.
Here is a little bit of money towards next vodka cooled PC. I think you should make it as powerful as possible. Also if I can make a recommendation as to the design. You need to add a second pump to the tank side. The vodka at freezer temperature gets too thiCCC. Also maybe consider vehicle fuel pump or pool pump to handle the load.
Great video as always, Slav King Boris. Keep going comrade, this is only a minor setback! With a little more Slav ingenuity, you will soon have the Vodka-cooled PC up and running Metro: Exodus, CS:GO etc. at hundreds of FPS. Hope this will help! Stay cheeki-breeki! :D
Wow so unfortunate Boris! But one important hint when it comes to pc watercooling reservoirs. You need to connect the in and out tubing from the bottom. This is very important or else the air will always rund back into the top tube. And also you will always have a small noisy waterfall in the system. Only if the connections on the reservoir are on the bottom the air will get trapped inside the reservoir as it should.
Run the tubing through some loops against the sides of the freezer before sending it into the bottle. More surface area = more cooling! And, if you need more power, try a fish-pond pump. Test it outside the case though first blyat!

Lol!! I did the same thing with a mini freezer back in like 2006!! AIO units were not super available, so I got a Thermaltake water block for my CPU and modified their "Tide Water" GPU cooler and used copper pipe into a motorcycle radiator inside a mini freezer. I was getting crazy OCs with it and managed to push my build out another year. In fact it was the first build I played STALKER on! It was amazing!
Oh my fucking god, when I thought anything could make my day be a good day... Suddenly my brother Boris uploads a video. Stay Chiki Briki from Seville Spain
Good to see the vodka PC back! I was sad when you told us it was sold. Your step by step process is solid. Might be worth wiping the components down with some Isopropyl alcohol to wipe off any residue. Also re-seat your RAM.... seriously that fixes everything.
I have a feeling that the cpu moved when he removed the cooler and that needs to be re-seated. Sometimes thermal paste can hold those coolers on there pretty good especially if it's been there for a while
Did it back in the 90s with my K6 it works to a degree but over time the little freezer can't keep up. It did keep it chugging along till 2006 though when over clocking it any more to play modern games didn't work.... Then I made another hilarious monstrosity for way too much... But that is another story.
Freezers and refrigerators are meant to keep things cold. They do not adjust temperature quickly. It takes a warm freezer a long time to cool down, and it would heat quickly. It’s not really a workable idea.
@@CasperInkyMagoo Yep, running it through a cold water dispenser would be more effective, since those are actually designed to quickly cool down liquid
not really. that's basically the same as putting your radiator inside thermally insulated box because most freezers can't really cool hundreds of watts of heat but to be fair if you only game like an hour it might be fine because it takes kinda long time to heat large amounts of water.
To add to what others have said, cooling down air is very easy, cooling down a liquid is very difficult. You'd be better off running it all into a high quality beer cooler and toss ice into it. Put a cheap fish tank pump into it so you can easily remove the warm water into buckets. Definitely not ideal but this isn't either. I guess as long as you always stopped gaming once the vodka reached 50 degrees or so it would give you a couple hours of very chilly cooling once a day.
Just like the Tu-22. Cold War supersonic bomber (1st one to serve with the Soviets actually), used 40% ethanol as the coolant for the crew cabin. Ground crews often drank it.
The funny part is that the Soviets probably reduced ethanol content to prevent the crews from drinking it and getting obliterated. The US Navy used to fuel their torpedoes in WW2 with 180 proof (90%) alcohol fuel. This more or less caused the sailors and submariners to at best hijack torpedo fuel depots and drain it, and at worse drain it from storage while at sea. Met an old WW2 salt who told me he used to drain them into a barrel and huck tinned fruit in it until they dumped some kind of poison into it that could cause you to go blind, and then got pissed the Pacific guys figured out how to distill the spiked chemicals out and didn't pass the knowledge to Atlantic fleet.
