Takanashi played really well this match! Great serve, reception, pipe attack, even though got few blocks. Otsuka as a substitute today for Takahashi wasn’t good, once he’s on the court he’s been targeted for serving the ball to, and his reception wasn’t good enough to let setter go for the middle. Otake, the hero against Russia, today was the same Otake I used to know which got so many blocks. 😂

there were no Nishida, Takahashi, Shimizu and Ishikawa in this match that's why they got beaten.
I think the reason why the coach is not letting his star player play is because he don't want to over exhaust his players and changing it up so that their plays won't be read easily by their opponents. I think he's thinking for the long run.

Japan's momentum was only in set 1 then Serbia came back to life from Set 2 to Set 4. Defense of Japan is not so organize. There's a hesitation when it comes to Transition. I am not expecting too much for tomorrows match since they'll be facing the mighty Brazil. Just happy to watch Nippon playing. It satisfies me everytime I see Ran Takahashi playing. I felt sad coz Otsuka really want to bring his A game but he wasn't able to overcome it. I know he can contribute more points. He's really kawaii and charming.

i feel like takahashi - ishikawa duo is already set and japan has some really deep middles with takahashi, onodera, lee and yamauchi.. idk but shimizu and otake are good attackers but nishida’s offence is really different/they definitely need his offence. also they really needed yanagida’s maturity/offence in this game (idk why he’s not included tbh)
Ishikawa didn't play to reserve him for France and Brazil this week, Takahashi wasn't on his game today and Nishida is resting and recovering from an ankle injury.

Yanagida did announce on his Instagram that he's not included for this tournament. I think Takahashi replace his position, but I agree with you because Yanagida has better chemistry with other teammates despite his offence is not as good as Nishida.

Congrats, Serbia! Krsmanovic really filling in nicely for Lisinac. Atanasijevic's serves made a difference in this match. That should be a confidence booster for him.
PS. This is how I expected the Russia-Japan match would turn out.
Russia made a lot of errors
Remember that Serbia failed to qualify for the Olympics, like several other teams in VNL and yet are stronger than quite a few of them who did qualify.
Serbia is the current European Champion, so it's not weak at all

this vnl is the training ground for most of these teams for olympics, the lineup are mostly composed of Team B/reserves

I think the reason why Ishikawa didn't play on this game is that the Japan's team is letting him rest in preparation for the game against Brazil today (Jun 4)? Hoping that Nishida will play on that game too.
I was expecting Japan to win, considering the victory they had against Russia , but Serbia had a great defense

Japan played well vs Russia just like today but they were quite lucky with the block out vs Russia. from set 2-4, they completely lost who they were vs Russia. Maybe lacked captaincy led an unorganized def and offense

In my opinion luck can be counted as skill aswell, because it is dependent on different physical aswell as mental factors of yourself, your teammates and opponents ,IMHO (btw, i'm not a Japan team fanboy, no hate and anger here please). So as I said, winners aren't being judged, even if they are total newbies, who might won by accident

the japanese floor defense and speed are really impressive but the serbian block is just too much. They just won’t let balls coming from from zone 2 and 4 pass through easily. 🥵🥵🥵
Serbia killed Japan with the middle. Japan was never known with their middles. It’s always the wings. Serbia’s middles was japan’s undoing.
@@jaimesantos1170 yeah... Japan relied too much on their wing hitters to the point of being easily read by the serbians. They need to activate the middle in order to draw those blockers apart and give way to their gunners.
