| Nimir Abdel-Aziz vs Ran Takahashi | Netherlands vs Japan | VNL 2021 | Highlights
Japan are on two victories after their come from behind 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-8) triumph against the Netherlands on Saturday. Ran Takahashi scored 26 points in the winning effort.
This is what the players said:
Thijs Ter Horst (NED): After the first two sets they started to put more pressure on us, and from our side we started to make some mistakes that were unnecessary. I think we wanted to close the game too quickly, instead of just playing our game. That's why we made a few too many mistakes. We are here [at the VNL] for the first time. In addition a few guys have never played in the national team before, so it's an amazing start for their international career. We have to enjoy, learn and keep going.
Ran Takahashi (JPN): The first two sets were very difficult for us, also mentally. However, what we did in the next three sets was showing in the game what we have worked on during training, and that was what helped us win this game. Playing a five-setter is a good experience for the future, and tomorrow we will try to play even better.

Just like Yuki and Yuji, Ran is already good at such a young age, but imagine if he gains more weight, confidence and experience to play internationally, that trio will be deadly.

Weight. Hes actually a bit same built when yuki debuted on the national team, but look at Yukis built now and he became more powerful.

Japan's volleyball is so BRIGHT! But I really miss Nishida, hope he gets well soon from his sprained ankle.
someone says he's gonna be there in week 2. Not sure of op's resource but hopefully next week we can see japan in their full potential especially against brazil on friday!

@@horanghae9433 With Ran and Otsuka, Nishida and Ishikawa, that would be amazing! Don’t get me wrong, I think Shimizu is AWESOME, especially after what he went through with his injury.. I just wish Kento is also included! That kid is an incredible southpaw!

Nimir is really doing great since his stint in Trentino and now in VNL. For Ran he is really the future of Japanese team. Hope to see these guys play for many many years more.
Been following Takahashi since his high school games, had high hopes for him, and he did not disappoint

I saw the full match live and really Japan was phenomenal!. Appreciation to Nimir as well. But the discipline of Japan and endurance really paved off. Ran Takahashi is so promising.

It's honestly quite sad that the only Dutch player leaving an impression in this tournament is Nimir. The Dutch used to be such a solid team(like 90's early 2000's) but now it's a one man team
