Look, nimir is a really strong player japan had to face.. but he can’t be the only one to carry the whole team. It’s a team game for a reason. On the other hand, in the early sets japan didn’t find their rhythm until on the third set where they finally got used to their opponents and environment. Nimir was nasty but constantly relying on him might’ve been a mistake on their side and Japan managed to make use of it, props to sekita for that. That’s why on 4th and 5th sets japan was like a completely different team.
Japan only needs dominant Blockers who can really block. Takahashi and Onodera are good but they need more height to compete against towering blockers of other teams.
But like Onodera is one of their tallest players together with Yamaguchi and Tanakashi the third middle. And they’re all 210 cm if not taller, I think the only thing japan needs its better block timing.
