I’m old enough to remember when drip coffee pots like yours just hit the market. We thought we were high society when my mom and dad bought one. No more percolator on the stove. 👍the content.
im 24 and i currently drive an 84 s10 pickup, it has 2 million miles on it and the body is ragy, it refuses to die, i do my best to take proper car of it, where i live tho most folks laugh at it because its not a c10 but i dont care i love my little s10 and as long as im around itll be around roamin the roads :)
My first vehicle was an ‘85 s10 long bed. This video is a bit nostalgic for me. It was the first car I wrenched on - replaced the engine, alternator, starter, water pump (did a lot of things for that vehicle). Older cars are soooo much easier to work on. The experience has saved me a lot of money through the years. Thanks for all you do. You make wrenching look easy.
If you sheet rock inside your garage , paint it white, you will have a lot more light to see with on your projects in garage. Just an idea. Sheetrock doesn't cost a whole lot if you put it up yourself. You make good videos, thanks for the watch.
I was thinking roughly the same thing. For years my shop’s garage area was unpainted, and even with big fluorescent lights it was like working in a cave. One summer I bought a LOT of primer and white topcoat and spent hours with an airless sprayer attacking every nook and cranny. It was insane work climbing out on the trusses and spraying away, but the effect was fabulous. Even better was when I replaced the lights with 8-foot LEDs that cost all of $15 each. They use hardly any electricity, are instantly on and are too bright to look at. The garage where Simon was working - maybe he doesn’t own it - would be hugely easier to prepare for paint as it looks far emptier than mine was.
Hey Simon am new to your channel and I have to say your videos are very enjoyable..I wish more TH-camrs can be like you..like your not talkive at all in your videos.and I enjoy it..all the other TH-camrs they talk so much and when they are done the videos are over I hate that..I admire you keep up the good work I myself am a DIY mechanic and I love it..
I just bought a 85 s10 2 door 4x4 blazer it won't crank at the ignition but it cranks from like a board under the dash do u possibly no why it won't start from the ignition? I no nothing about these vehicles
It is good to pump the brake fluid if you use a check valve (so that when the master cylinder reverses, it does not draw air into the brake cylinder on the wheel). The check valve can be used for example from the windshield wiper circuit.
Reminds me. I got a near mint condition 2002 one owner Honda Civic from and old man who maintained it by the book and barely drove it, and still needed to spend like $800 to make it driveable. And still got stranded because of seized A/C compressor. Old cars, no matter how well they were maintained, are still old. There's still rust, disintegrating rubbers and plastics, and fading/peeling paint.
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic again (work, result and video)! Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health in particular.
I remembered my first new car was a blazer. I loved it but had the finance company come collect bad things happened at the time, but this is great video of general maintenance. A little elbow greese nice condition at that .,
The Prestone "T" is for a garden hose to flush out the cooling system and or heater core. With some cleaner they work okay. A better way is a gun that uses a water hose and shop air.
oh man, what a repair job.. i love your work man... this is good. the truck got so much better. sounds so good. the engine is smooth... regarding 4x4, i think it needs work with the front differential.
Thank God for electronic fuel injection i say.My mechanical skill set kept up with most of this video until he got to the carby. He is only a young dude but he has an old soul in there somewhere.
As skilled as you are I’m surprised you don’t make a pit to work underneath the vehicle s. My father and uncle made pits in their garage just for that reason. They both worked on cars a lot
Whenever I watch one of your videos I get the urge to put on some kansas or cream or likewise afterwards and I don't know why. Not complaining though :D
From 85 onward they began to build things more complicated. Many mechanics I knew gave up 'cause they didn't feel like messing with computer and whatnot.
Really digging the videos ! I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada and as you were doing the door weather stripping I thought 🤔 thats where my noise is coming from ! Curious did you use stock stripping or a universal kit ?
Nice car man! Amazed by how simple it is to service... Well excluding the carburetor, it always amazes me how that complex thing is mostly reliable. Did you get more horse power after your rebuild? Thank you for the video.
At 20:52 are you just screwing into the plastic? I drilled holes into the plastic and used rivets with backing plates for mine, but if screws work that's much simpler.
when i do a coolant change i park a block down the street in front of a random person's house and unhook lower rad hose and drive home ,car wont over heat and i'll have almost no coolant mess to clean from garage floor ..... is that wrong.
I just bought a 85 s10 trailblazer 4x4 it won't crank at the ignition but cranks if u crank it below the dash idk anything about these vehicles can anyone help
@@SimonFordman i have a hose hanging on the ball canister one is connected to the actuator but the other one is there ,i think is from the vacumm but i really dont know where to connect it 🫤
@@KsGCovers Oh yea, I see what you mean. Unfortunately I don’t have a good resource for the connections. I wish the truck was here so i could just look for you, but it’s not my own. If the 4x4 isn’t working or something, I’d just experiment by hooking the line to any manifold vacuum source. Good luck with the resto.
I'm definitely just as good as you when it comes to taking the carburetor apart. Tomorrow I'll tell you how I got on with putting it back together. Jesus .... 😱 A mastermind at work. Best channel!

And made American coffee the burnt down disgusting black liquid you drink today.
👏👏👏
And I'm old enough to remember the percolator lol
Some real ones watching these videos. I’ve always remembered drip coffe but I way outdate coffee being a fancy commodity available on every corner.
I’m old enough to remember when carburetors weren’t so complicated.
No useless words, no annoying music, just the sound of your work! The only problem on your videos are that they end! Congrats from Italy!
Well said. Cheers
The camera work is amazing, I sit here watching hour long videos because I just love it!

You are a very good & capable Mechanic & you think outside the box 👍
I really enjoy the care you take with everything you work on
Not everyday you see a mechanic with model looks.

Yep... definately one of the better TH-cam channels. Well made intelligent content. Thanks!
I got an 86 and an 89 love watching restorations or any replacement parts got some good ideas from your video ❤ much love hope you post new stuff 💪
Thanks!
I love your progress and your vlogs, and the shooting and editing make it all a joy to watch. Keep it going dude.
Restoring my first truck which happens to be an 87 s10. Loved this video. Subbed

nice coffee machine
This man has a total 70s vibe.
That’s what he’s going for. He’s going back to an era when people knew how to fix their own cars.

You make me want to get into doing this sort of thing for myself but then I realize that I am not mechanically inclined.

Thank you
I remember shocks, no struts, coil over springs, just a simple suspension.
I wish my brain worked like yours.

I love watching your work, and how you solve problems with what you have. Is there a reason you were using a torque wrench to break the lugnuts loose?

That’s Mr. Coffee to you.

Rivets are a good idea. It came with screws so that's just why I used 'em.
👍🙏Good day,😇
Is that 2wd or 4wd reason I ask is I bought a 1989 gmc s15 high sierra 2wd and I was just seeing if you have any rubbing issues with the 235/75/15
Pergunta :
Vc é mecânico ou comora e vendes estes carros?
Parabéns pelo enquadrou das imagens.
Перед тем как болт вставлять в амортизатор я его смазываю. Иначе потом может приржаветь , пилить придётся.
Me encanta esa Blazer C10
Stellar truck man. What's your opinion on the 2.8 v6 in those old Chevy's?

That thing must have never seen a winter. Or a rainy day for that matter. Doesn't appear to be a speck of rust on it.
Love your videos Simon but I have to say I cringe every time you use a torque wrench as a breaker bar!
I agree. I stopped doing that a while ago, after these old videos.
Id let u work on my cars and i dont let anyone touch them lol
What? No rusted out floor.
That carburetor looks absolutely nightmarish on the outside, I've never seen anything with linkages that complex...
Ripping off wheel nuts with a torque wrench is not a good idea. =)
Some tire shop way over torqued those wheels.
