Best review I've watched about Metaphor Refantazio. And I've watched over 10 of them. Very VERY well done and thorough. 10 out of 10 game. 10 out of 10 review.
Wow! This is probably the only video that can capsulate exactly the theme of Metaphor from what ive seen on youtube so far. And also some neat mention to Katsura Hashino, Soejima and Shoji Meguro as well. I even consider to make a review of this game myself to share with my friends but after this video, it seems like I don’t have to anymore. Great job on making this video.
I feel like for a 10/10 the game should succeed in all areas where it could be, and the dungeons / bounties environments were very repetitive. Consider FF rebirth which has uniquely crafted massively explorable areas, with fully voiced dialogues to boot, which metaphor also lacked. Metaphor is a fantastic game, but objectively a 10/10 I believe it is not. Once voicework is completed for all segments of the game (majority of all confidant dialogue is textbox), the dungeons are uniquely crafted, this game can be a 10/10.
I get where you are coming from and I hold both Rebirth and Metaphor in extremely high regard. But I think that how these games handle exploration is fundamentally different. Both a globetrotting adventures through their respective worlds, but FF7 takes the more traditional approach and has a good mixture of challenges, map marker objectives, and mini-games. Metaphors is more focused around its time management and having each dungeon, bounty tied to some sort of dungeon or quest. I do feel there may be some sense of visual repetition with some of these dungeons. But overall I feel there are different puzzles, and location variety with some of them being in caves, a forest or a tower, and the enemies are varied and interesting. I think the voiced dialogue is something that Rebirth has done a great job with, I think Metaphor in that respect too has a substantial amount and I get the critique, but I guess it doesn’t detract from the experience imo to dock any points. I generally don’t like number scores, but in my eyes if I had to assign a number it would be a 9 at least. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
What is the track called that plays at the start of the conclusion segment I've been looking for it ever since I heard it in game but can't find it anywhere. And great review by the way I hope this video encourages people who have been sitting on the fence to finally play it and experience this masterpiece!
The song is called King of Destruction and the part played in the video kicks in around the 2 minute mark :). Also thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Metaphor has been nominated for GOTY!
Here's hoping that it wins the GOTY 🙏 it absolutely deserves it.
