Thank you man for this video... I have a 156 steel grey 1.9 JTD (the same of this video), I have similar problems and I will solve it after the summer season... I have other 2 cars and I can fix it with calm... Great Channel!

The ABS warning light did not light up at startup, with the exact same unit on my 1996 GTV Turbo. After testing on a very old FIAT-tester, I only replaced (used part from Germany) electronic part of the system. Works perfectly again.

Hello, thanks for watching. On my 155 I had to do that too. And some years later the light was off again, but this time was only the light bulb itself

I believe I have the same ABS pump in my 2003 Stilo. It's Bosch 5-point-something for sure. It also clears the fault indicator itself. Had that happen to me when I put different size tires on left and right of the car. After a few kilometers the ABS and brakes lamps illuminated. I noticed they were gone after next engine start. Then I changed all the tires and the fault never came back. Other time the ABS lamp itself came on when I had one wheel in the air and spinned it for a bit with the engine on. This time I didn't turn the key off but lowered the car and started driving. After some time the lamp was gone. And by the way I have one important question to you Bruno. Is it possible to install a pump equipped with ASR (traction control) when I only have ABS by now? Would be really useful in wintertime. Cheers ☺

Hello. Thank you very much for sharing.
You can go from abs to esp (asr, etc..) but you have to have more sensors.
The accelerometer, the steering wheel angle sensor, wiring for all that, program the body computer for all that too

may i ask you have you made any videos on electric seats? i have them on a 156, 2.5 2003, and i have no idea where or what to look for to fix it?

Hi Bruno, I'm working on my 156 that had been sitting for six years. I took a short test drive, everything works, but after a couple of kilometers the ABS and brake light came on, and the speedometer is at zero, I don't see the speed, however the car brakes well. I had already planned to replace the brake fluid and power steering fluid (and I hope the ABS control unit hasn't broken), then I'll bleed and clean all the ABS sensors, but I need your help with a question: since the brake fluid also controls the clutch, do I also need to bleed the clutch line from the brake fluid? And if the answer is yes, is there a video on how to do it in your channel so I can search? Thanks for your help. Gianfranco, from Italy.

Great video! Is it true that keeping the key in the lock on "on" / "acc" position (just before start of the engine with the key) - while changing the brake fluid with the pressure bleeder also bleeds the abs unit because the abs valves "stay open"?
I heard it's like that supposedly on all cars, but I'm unsure how that could be true??

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hello. No, that is one true at all.. the abs only open the internals with abs activation or activation through diagnosis tolll.
Remember that a car with abs behaves normal when braking, only when the wheels lock up does the abs come alive

Hello Bruno, excellent videos. On my Spider 1999 I have same abs unit, no fault codes, but I cant get brake force at all on rear calipers. Mechanics suggested to replace unit, but is impossible to be found. Do you have any suggestion for cause of problem, corrector on rear is bypassed by houses and that didn't help... Front brakes are working well and on hard breaking abs is triggering. Hand brake is working fine. Thanks for assistance.

I have an 156 and I'm very frustrated with the braking system...
I've installed metallic lines, ATE Ceramic pads, ATE Typ200 fluid because it didn't brake like it should... And I'm not getting better...
In a normal driving it brakes more or less okay, but if I want to do a emergency brake, or I'm driving more sporty, I could brake the hardest I can't feel a nice braking force. Obviously I've purged fine the system... Maybe it's the Pump itself? Or the ABS Module?
What does your experience could tell us Bruno?
    Thanks!!

Hello. 156, 147 and GT babe excellent braking systems. You have to have an issue in the somewhere? The pedal gets too hard or too soft?
The abs or esp contributes nothing to the stopping power or fade. The abs is just there to unlock locking brakes.
Make sure your steel braided are good, personally I do not recommend, only normal ones and replace them every ten years

Hello! How to register ABS 5.7 ESP ASR to the ECU in ALFA ROMEO 156 CF3? I swapped a 2.5 engine to 3.0. I flashed the ECU with a 166 3.0 map. Now there is an error U1706.

    • @alfaromeonoproblem

Hello. That fault code is communication error. The unit you are using cannot talk to the abs esp.

@@alfaromeonoproblem I know. I need to register iso in the ABS unit. This unit is also used on Audi and BMW. They are registered. Perhaps your device can register ABS via OBD2. I just don’t know, if I buy an ABS unit from 166 3.0, will there be errors in the steering wheel and the stability control unit? Or do I need to somehow change the ABS communication code in the 166 3.0 ECU map. I have a native 156 2.5 CF3 map. There are no errors with it. But the 3.0 engine does not work correctly. And with the 166 3.0 map, the engine works fine, but there is an error in communication with the ABS u1706. There is also an error p1314. The 166 3.0 has a different gas pedal. The 156 2.5 pedal needs to be somehow modified to fit the parameters of the 166 3.0.

@user-hb2pi9rc9j modifications are really not my thing and I do not have the experience or the knowledge for that.
My autel machines do not do such things also, they are diagnosis and troubleshooting tools only.
You must check that with a mods guys

Thank you for showing the work. I have had to change the ABS module 3 times, but only the electronic module, because the brakes work fine. Is it advisable to change the electric pump as well? Another problem is that I think it is no longer available as a spare part. Do you know if there is another compatible model that is more modern? Thank you.
