The thing that’s fishy to me is that this was only uploaded on SoundCloud. And if you know anything on SoundCloud you know that you can change the file for a track and it doesn’t say so for all we know they could have heard it, made a song copying her, and than switched the file with the actual live your life track. Why was it not on Spotify or Apple or any other service? Like I’m not saying it’s a completely different song but it could have been a little bit of a different melody or rhythm and than they changed it and reuploaded it. How was it number 2 on the reggae charts yet it wasn’t on the more popular streaming services. It only has 200 plays on SoundCloud when levitating was written so I don’t know how they could have heard it. Dua has sampled before and given credit so why would she have not done it this time and also did they try reaching out to her for a co-writing credit before going to court? The only audio outside of SoundCloud you can find on the song came out in the last 3 days on TH-cam yet in the lawsuit they say it’s been available on all streaming services since 2017. Also I looked up the reggae chart thing and can’t find any evidence of this chart existing. Billboard has a reggae albums chart but not a songs chart. There are videos showing how you can change SoundCloud audio and even though the song has been up for four years there was only a comment made after a lawsuit. There’s no way a song gets successful enough to chart that high and no one comments. Also, both songs literally sound like Rosa parks by outkast to me.

I still think Artikal's case is iffy, but it's definitely the stronger one. If I heard one of the 2 songs playing from a different room, muffled, I might not know which one it was. I can understand them hearing Dua's song on the radio and saying "Wait a minute, we did that song before."
But the other one is insane. It's literally just eighth notes and a descending scale. Anyone can come up with that, which of course is why so many do. It's like copyrighting the disco beat.

People are missing out on the fact that the "original" song was only on Soundcloud before the lawsuit if you search Google by date. Their other songs only got hundreds of listens after this lawsuit, so the amount of listens the original song had was also extremely low. Someone who produced for Madonna and Dua Lipa (both are disco albums btw) are NOT gonna scrap the bottom of Soundcloud for inspiration. Outkast's Rosa Parks has the same chord and the producer actually stated that one of the album's inspiration was Outkast so there's that

I think people have to understand that there is only so many notes on a keyboard, and eventually everyone will be just copyrighting eachother, I mean producers don’t get sued for using the same 808 or snare or sounds etc. let alone don’t get sued for using the same chord progression. This argument is stupid and they wouldn’t be sueing if this song was not a hit, they are just trying to steal some money for something as stupid as that.

He lives here in México now and goes on ANY shitty common denominator TV show that will give him money. He needs this Dua Lipa cash so he can stop having to be a judge on Pequeños Gigantes and (mexican) The Voice: Kids.
