Hey man what oil are you using ,that's a really good oil pressure? Is it w40? I never got that oil pressure even on a new engine.

It's 10W40 half-synthetic. Highly advised not to use anything else in that type of engines, in a mild climate like western Europe. In a hot climate maybe 15W40. Never use full-synthetic 5W30 or something, specially not if the engine ran on half-synth 10W40 for a long time because it can cause severe problems. That oil gauge shows like this since I have the car, now over 15 years, so I don't know other then it's just good as it is. Warm idle @ 600-700rpm needle drops to halfway on the gauge. Maybe your gauge is faulty?

@@knightwolf200612 factory recomends 5w30 and at 2000rpm it should be between middle and 60....your oil sure is better than what factory recommends ,that's a healthy engine ,not that they are known to ever break lol . I'm from Romania btw so we are on the same continent dealing with weird US cars lol . I love the fact yours still has the US gauges .

@@Adrian-mq5ld 5W30 is full synthetic, which didn't or barely existed in the 80's. Can never be factory recommended in 1987. 5W30 is only used in modern cars in which engines are much tighter machined. 5W30 is way too thin for an original 80's Chevy pushrod V8, unless you're in a very cold climate. In my car, I really don't know how accurate the gauge is, I only know that between half and right end is ok. At least this car has an oil pressure gauge, most cars don't even have it :P
Btw my car is original from Canada, speedo is in KM.

@@knightwolf200612 That's impossible because the manual it states "5w30" or 10w30 . I get the same SAE figures for my 1999 Chrysler 300M 3.5 v6 ,its an engine from the same 80s era. The oil pressure gauge is very accurate in these cars ,sadly newer cars dont have that . Heck I'd love to have one in my 300M which are known to spun rod bearings in Europe due I have no idea why it happens mainly in Europe lol .Mine got that kind of oil pressure when the thermostat got stuck and the temp went to max ....both temp and oil pressure went in the "good zone" haha
I watched it on my phone so it looked like it was in mph. Thank goodness you got the normal side mirrors not the flappy black ugly ones you get normally on german Firebirds. Also its good yours is black ,I got a 88 Firebird formula 5.7 also black....these cars are like made to be black and no I don't really like knight rider ,too many of these cars got junked for that show or by fans.

@@Adrian-mq5ld The only reason I have my TransAm is because of Knight Rider, it's just my life :D I know what you mean about replica's but there are still not so many.
Black yes, awesome color for a Bird. And like mine black with gold is very very rare on a 3rd gen. In the Netherlands I've only seen 2 others in this color, and also on internet don't see this color very often.
If you like my car also check my other videos, if you haven't done that already :P
