One of the greatest live performances of ANY band EVER. This whole concert was top shelf and showed a band at the top of their game in every aspect. I watched this live in 85 (yes I'm an old fart!) and it blew me away. I taped it as it was simulcast on JJJ and for years after that cassette was my best friend. Some of these songs are just blistering observations of the inequalities that still exist in Australia today. Saw them many times live and they never failed to deliver. A great time to be young and alive in OZ.
I've seen them since 1978! That Concert, & Wanda Beach, (which I was at too) & Goat Island, are Just the Best! There is a DVD Out, called "Best of Both Worlds" that is both the Capitol Show & Goat Island! Absolutely Brilliant!
this is the hottest concert of all time ... I know .. I was there !!!! 200 winners of Triple Jay Competition.... they didn't know what they had won..... a personal concert form Australias mighty Midnight Oil .. no wonder Peter Garret dances like a dervish ... how can u not ... even Rob Hirst the drummer manages to pull off wearing a pink boiler suit .. lol !!!
I have played this song hundreds of times, best song in their long list of songs along with Tin legs and tin mines. Was lucky enough to see them play the 10-1 album in its entirety at the Fremantle Arts gig
Garrett in the beautiful powerful magic at the end of this song overlooking our beloved Sydney Harbor…mate, with tears I’m fucking proud to be Australian.
I could NEVER tire of this wonderful Aussie band, the marvellous Midnight Oil. Intelligent, informative and completely original, loved everything they did. And truly sensational live. Superb music, thank you. I'm an oldie too but still love to crank Tin Legs and Tin Mines right up. Actually, who am I kidding, they all get cranked up!
Bejesus, not the type of person to crap on about the stars aligning. But Sydney harbour during golden hour with midnight oil performing at there peak..how much joy can a koala bear!
Incredible. I remember seeing this on the ABC, watching from a village in south east Queensland and just being amazed. I had already been a fan since 10-1. But this concert was another level. Saw them on 26 Sep 1987 in Brisbane....and that was just mind blowing.
What a song, what a band, what a time! Oils at their finest and nearly 30 years on they still set a benchmark in creative parts in songs that just rock. Not sure the chicks ever really got it but it certainly was fuel for all the boys!
I was fortunate to see them in 1985 in Boston as they were a quick fill in because Black Uhuru was detained at US Customs (Hmmm), Midnight Oil was called and they opened for UB40. It was a great show, out doors in late May. Great energy and vibe. I lost interest somewhat in their music after the mid-1980's but still admired them and really loved the music from 1979-1985.
Oh man, I hadn't watched this particular clip in years!! Hadn't been able to because it had been blocked, for some reason. None of the other songs, though! But that may also have been the reason for the video disappearing that had the whole show in it!?
Are the Oil's really coming BACK????? PINCH me, i've must have died and gone to heaven or somewhere!!!! thank god or whoever!!! there is NO aussie band better to see live than the Oil's in FULL FLIGHT!!!!!!!!
need a full tour pete now your ditching politics because rudd left you swinging oin the wind good to see you still have your pride you did warnhim about the safety issues, that being said the bottom line is the contracter is responsible for training and safety issues

The Oils opening for UB40? That means the support act gets you all hyped up and then the main act puts you to sleep.
