I used to see the Oil's back when they were French's House Band on Tuesday nights & didn't think they could get better back they B4 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 came out. They proved me totally wrong with many post Head Injuries albums like Deasil & Dust, Blue Sky Mine etc etc etc
Make no mistake! This amazing song could only have been written by Midnight Oil! We are blessed to be able to hear this song performed live by the actual song writers! Could anyone else have written this song at any other time in history?!

@Michael Halloway - Awesome stuff! 1985 definitely was a great year, also in terms of Music and events like Live Aid :-) I was 15 then, and I remember one of my brother's friends raving about a Midnight Oil gig he'd recently been to; I'd never heard of them before! And it would still be another year or so before I'd hear their actual Music, with the release of 'Beds Are Burning' :-)

I've always loved the Oils since the first time I saw them in 2002, which was the first rock gig I ever went to (I was born in the year before this video was filmed, so give me a break), and had never heard this song before the concert - which is among my favourite. The only albums I had ever listened to up until a month ago were Diesel n Dust and Blue Sky Mining. But just discovered their pre-Goat Island albums, and just luuuuv em.

There's a lot me and my mates my age missed out on, but we still got to grow up around good music, and thanks to growing up in the dawn of the digital music age, we did get to check out a lot of good bands' music while the bands were mostly still around, even if it was for reunion tours (eg Cold Chisel). In the last 20 years, me and my mates have seen a lot of bands who have since retired or had key members die. Sure, we were born years after AC/DC with Bon Scott played at the Horden Pavilion in '75 or whatever, but if you've seen the next generation after us, they're the ones who you should truly feel sorry for. Me and my mates know that the generation of really good music, from the late 60s to the early 90s, was before our time, but we still got to experience that to some degree, if albeit later and in a more corporate "band retirement tour" sense, but seeing Beethoven or Wagner live, still would've been great, even after their prime (if you catch what I'm saying). I'm 38 and I guess not likely going to have kids, but if I do, I am not even sure if I want to be that type of father who introduces them to my taste of music. Why? Because they might like it and realise how horrible their generation's music is. Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, give me a break.

I watch this and instantly time warp back to the best time in Aussie music history, if you were there, you know what I mean. It's so sad all the kids are exposed to these days is TV talent quests and 'Autotune' electronic sounds (I refuse to call it music). I must confess I lost interest in The Oils in the late 80's when they got a more commercial sound. Peter, it's time to leave politics and do a 30th anniversary tour of 10 to 1.
