My favorite video you've made so far - kids love it too, now they're googling how to edit a video like this. Very well done, informative and entertaining both.
Form 3 is soresu, famous for Kenobi while form 2 is Makashi, famous for dooku. Form 3 is very defensive and was originally made for deflecting blasters. In duels, an experienced Form 3 user would slowly weather the attacker's stamina and patience. Meanwhile, Makashi was made *to* duel. Graceful and minimalist, Makashi is akin to fencing techniques and uses the user's grace and Minimalist moments to attack, react, and Dodge faster and more effectively. Both are pretty epic forms
I was writing a scene where one character is about to explain to another how to defend herself with a sword and you post this video at the exact same time... Are you god ?
Although, he has only made 2 official appearances in the channel, so far (3, if we're counting Skall's latest katana review). So, we can't say that for sure.
This is the best Skall and Skall 2 video this far. In others it doesn't look like second Skall is there for real. In this one it does 'cause there's no tiny edge around him or such stuff that tell you that he was added in post production.
I know of only one technique. This sword technique has guaranteed my success in many battles. This technique has enabled me to become the super tough and super edgy man I am today. This technique is known as... RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB RB
THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG. most of the videos that i have watched for animating swords, they never give credit to the animators usually. also, thank you for teaching me a few blocking poses, or you probably know it as just a sword fighting move.
Okay now i actually want to know how Skallagrim made such good editing that it actually convinces me evil skall is really there, and hollywood with all their money and exp cant do it half as good???
Still abusing your clones I see. (Love these video effects you're going for recently. Must be quite a lot of work but the pay off is definitely worth it. Loving your work as always.)
Having done special effects since age 12 (I'm in my 20s now) I really appreciate the work that went into the Matte's in this. mattes are a VFX artist's most powerful tool. No joke.
edition of what? edition would make no sense in this context, while editing would make much more sense seeing as this video blends 2 skalls really well (and also everyone on the comments are talking about the editing too)
Hey Skallagrim 2 things. 1 that twin thing is genius I hope we see more of that. 2 can you recommend where I can find any metal practice swords. Oh here’s a third thing I hope you hit 1 million soon you deserve it.
The timing on the attacks is really well done here. I'm shocked you got it so accurate. Great editing! Liked and saved for later. (Definitely using this for game design research)
Skallagrim for me is a mealtime video channel. His videos are very interesting and informative, especially for people interested in weapons such as myself. Throughout the day, I’ve got plenty of things to worry about but during mealtimes, I’ve got this stuff to enjoy, along with other videos too
Evil Skall was amazing! Super clever and charmingly funny :3 I really like the idea of bringing more "characters" into the show, whether it be guests or alter egos!
So I’m trying to watch as many videos as possible to get a decent idea of longsword combat and defense for a high fantasy story I’m writing, and I’m enjoying what I’ve seen so far! Very educational!
I assume if you are already able to cut the brow, you should be able to do considerably more damage than just making your opponent bleed. With enough force you should be able to at the very least cause a concussion and some major bleeding. At the most you would be able to take the skull cap off.
welll probably salamander meaned more of a scratch. Yes. wounds on the forehead are bleeding much even when minor. but no... if you can hit your enemy in the head it's better to just hit all the way. But you probably have to deal with helmet first...
I mean, it works in MMA. Ever watch a fighter when a jab cuts into their brow? If the bleeding is too severe and they can't get it to stop, they will even stop the match. Not sure why. But I've seen MMA matches where it definitely seems that the blood in the eyes is effecting their depth perception at very least.
The timing with the Llaks interactions was impressively done! Also, I enjoyed the easy-to-understand explanation of the basic defense types. Great work.
Can I just say that I looooove how well you choreograph yourself to be able to demonstrate the moves with 2 Skalls? Just freaking great, plus the humour is always something to thank for.
I really love the idea of a series of videos going over the basics of swordsmanship. All most people know about sword fighting is what they've seen on TV and movies.
The edititing on this video is superb, I'm sure it took too much time to be worth it, but it is really good. The quality is up there woth videos that have a budget in the tens of thousands of dollars.
I get the impression that sometimes Skallagrim is satisfied with his editing skills and their results and so he makes these masterpieces (instead of being annoyed with the additional waste of time).
I am grateful for this Skall as I'm currently doing a round robin story and on character is meant to be a sword master while others are meant to be beginners but at least competent.
I was wondering about the murder stroke. Since you have to flip your sword over and grip the blade, I assume it is something that you only do when you opponent is staggered and not actively engaging you. So it's more of a 'finishing move' than a during-combat move? P.S. Love this type of video. Hema videos tend to be a little clinical, but you made them very entertaining.
BOTH entertaining AND helpful! LoL! Love your sense of humor! Turns out I'm writing my first fantasy novel that corresponds with medieval times. Need to understand sword play and terms and this got me off to a good start! Thank you!
Huh. I actually am that game dev type who's looking for inspiration for animations. I had this move stuck in my head that looks like what's at 4:53 and it just seemed so elegant and beautifully. I absolutely had to know the application of this type of high horizontal counter-swivel, whatever it's officially called. Glad I found this video. That rock-paper-scissors bit sounded so game-like
I love evil Skall. So evil he doesn't even cast a shadow.
Llaks is pretty great.
He _is_ the shadow.
he's so evil that he uses a sword that has no pommel
he's so evil he once ate 3 crunchy chicks
he's so evil....that his own shadow ran away LOLZ
Earth.Otherwise he reminds me of all the edgy teens in high school
I guess he must be a vampire or something.
Really enjoyed the editing of this video.
It was too freaking time consuming and I ended up still stuck editing in the middle of the night on several days. So I'm glad folks enjoy it.

Skallagrim enjoy it? Are you kidding? It's awesome, entertaining and I love it. The whole lex thing was awesome! Great job, sir skallagrim!
Thanks. It's Llaks by the way (Skall spelled backwards). :)
My favorite video you've made so far - kids love it too, now they're googling how to edit a video like this. Very well done, informative and entertaining both.
"Types of defense"
Form 3 lightsaber practitioners: *heavy breathing*
Heh
Pretty sure form three is soresu
Makashi is form 2
I see you're a man of culture as well
Form 3 is soresu, famous for Kenobi while form 2 is Makashi, famous for dooku. Form 3 is very defensive and was originally made for deflecting blasters. In duels, an experienced Form 3 user would slowly weather the attacker's stamina and patience. Meanwhile, Makashi was made *to* duel. Couldn’t pay much attention to what you said, had way to much fun with the twin.
You had fun with his twin?👬🏻
This sounds like a porno plot 😳
Ayyyo
If good Skall is a Pommel Wizard does that mean Evil Skall is a Dark Katana Wizard?
Alfatazer _ Evil Skall is a Dark Pommel Wizard.
Dark Katana is an OP Wep in TABG
Alfatazer _ Good question.
Your profile pic is uh..let's just say I like that artist lol
Terence Fletcher it's not appropriate, there are kids here lol
"this is my evil twin"
Proceeds to beat the shizt out of him.
Follow the River hahahahaha he's not evil, he's just been pushed around for too long LOL
Makes you wonder who is really the evil twin
He isn't evil, just misunderstood.

Skallagrim: The Clone Wars...
Daimon X topical
Its treason then
I'm very angry that you didn't use the chance to call it Skall wars: The Clone wars xD
Siegmernes i was thinking the same thing lol
Execute order 66
You need to bring your clone more often in your videos.
*twin
Agreed
Doubt you will see him a lot, that looks like a lot of editing to sync everything as well as Skall did. But agreed that was awesome
I was writing a scene where one character is about to explain to another how to defend herself with a sword and you post this video at the exact same time... Are you god ?
Clément Béziat When he wears his hair down he does look like Norse Jesus!
I prefer his evil self tho, 'cause you know... He is evil and stuff
Oh un francophone
Vraisemblablement
En effet, ravi de voir que je ne suis pas le seul :)
Hey! I'm doing that in my book! Stop stealing my generic ideas!
5:38 so skilled his sword goes through the opponent’s sword
Ghost sword👻
Like in movies, except the blade goes thru plate armour.
It is a op power
But which is truly the evil one here? The one who we are told is evil? Or the one that remorselessly bullies the other? lol
If you end him rightly, you will be just like him.
"Either we die a hero or live long enough to become a villain."
From my point of view the Jedi are wrong
Skal always wanted to be an actor.
one can see that from his ancient videos
This is very true. It's his inner desire.
Only he's to much of an introvert to actually be one..
I am an editor and it baffles me, how he arranged every swing and clang to connect so well. This is some top notch stuff!
It’s probably his brother 😉
5:38
Skall is such a good swordsman he can strike through the blade of his opponent!
Ninjamanhammer Noo he just glitched though the sword.
Ninjamanhammer
It's Ghost Sword, a lv 100 ability for the Swordmaster.
It basically an unblockable hit that also ignores armor.
It's very spammable.
I hope they'll nerf it in the next patch.
Ninjamanhammer
Yeah, that i hope
Making this video had to be really strange experience.
That's some top notch editing Skalla
Evil Skall should do a Q&A and give his opinions on certain fighting techniques
Hmm...
I like the idea. :)
So evil he doesn't have a proper shadow. You got me there! Lol
At least he's not sparkling in the sun you know :)
@@vedymin1 haha
Does your evil twin make evil hema videos?
With two bucklers?
Reedy_
Worse... with Katanas
I so want this to be real...
Don't forget the spinning and jumping.
Oh yes, those flashy movie ones especially...
Skall's video editing skills have improved dramatically.
As has his script writing.
More Evil Skall!
....is this magick or CGI....
well done Skall, love it.
Both? Magick CGI?
Obviously
Froschn Maximus Yes
Low mana
No wonder Llaks is evil, you do nothing but make him look bad in your videos.
Joseph Thompson Are we sure Llaks is actually the evil one? Lol
He llaks the freedom to branch out and do his own thing - and he’s salty about it
Joshua Samm You sir are a genius at puns
Although, he has only made 2 official appearances in the channel, so far (3, if we're counting Skall's latest katana review). So, we can't say that for sure.
Being attacked in a dark alley with a sword happens to me everyday!
BloodMoth you should probably tell the police about that...
Maybe you should end him rightly so the guy stops coming back for more.
Bloodborne-Dark souls?
Ethan Metcalf you do realize it was a joke right?
Bruh same😂
I love this video and the format of having your evil "twin!" Please do more of these!
"Watch out, flying pommel" LMFAO, I laughed so hard 😂😂
I read this as I saw saw that part. Strange coincidence.
This is the best Skall and Skall 2 video this far. In others it doesn't look like second Skall is there for real. In this one it does 'cause there's no tiny edge around him or such stuff that tell you that he was added in post production.
Hey he is real.He has just come from the other dimension.

well i must say that this vid has the perfect balance between being funny and being infomational. thanks a lot for such entertaining content skall
Why are you making this so complicated? Just press down B
B-B-A-B-X-B-B-A-Y
Easy!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG. most of the videos that i have watched for animating swords, they never give credit to the animators usually. also, thank you for teaching me a few blocking poses, or you probably know it as just a sword fighting move.
Loved the idea (and execution) of Llaks! Keep up the good work :)
this is not pro editing, this is magic
Okay now i actually want to know how Skallagrim made such good editing that it actually convinces me evil skall is really there, and hollywood with all their money and exp cant do it half as good???
What about Parent Trap?
The editing is just so good, and that's a very useful video. Could you talk about defensive moves with other weapons, like maces or axes?
"Stop moaning!"
"Pfft, it hurts man..."
This video is too good, it needs more views. 😂
No joke.
I play blade and sorcery all the time so I’ve always wanted to learn how to properly fight with the sword very useful video
Can we talk about this top notch editing plz like at first I thought the sound effects were real
Sebastian Sibley, dude I know. And the editing of the two shots together is SEAMLESS. Absolute masterpiece
I like how you are using that beach for sparring demonstrations more frequently. I always thought that's a kickass background for a swordfight!
When your master cuts are so strong they faze through your opponent's blade and hits them
Your raw videomaking skills have improved so much. The timing and editing with evil skall are just great
That edition is nice af
Edit: Editing*
editing*, edition is something else
You don't know what he meant. Maybe he really did mean to say "Edition".
edition of what? edition would make no sense in this context, while editing would make much more sense seeing as this video blends 2 skalls really well (and also everyone on the comments are talking about the editing too)
Sorry guys i didn't know that word in English, im learning xD
That was akward, thx for the correction
Hey Skallagrim 2 things.
1 that twin thing is genius I hope we see more of that.
2 can you recommend where I can find any metal practice swords.

"a flying pommel" I died
Dude you can be proud: awesome editing, very interesting, and even funny
The timing on the attacks is really well done here. I'm shocked you got it so accurate. Great editing! Liked and saved for later. (Definitely using this for game design research)
I understand why he isn’t showing use ways to end opponents rightly. It is far too dangerous for all involved.
Tearakan there's no such thing as a practice pommel
Even a practice pommel would be enough to end him rightly, there's no way a pommel can be even near weak enough to not cause serious damage
Nice, his positioning is so precise it makes the spar with Lax convincing.
Practicing for toy lightsaber fights with my friends.
Great work Skall! :)
And thanks for letting me be involved with the video. It was a beautiful day at the beach!
My favorite is the "oh shit defence"
Gawd, that is the best HEMA knowlege channel that I've ever seen. Both funny and informative. I love it.
Save for the penetrating sword, that was some pretty well done editing and timing!
Skallagrim for me is a mealtime video channel. His videos are very interesting and informative, especially for people interested in weapons such as myself. Throughout the day, I’ve got plenty of things to worry about but during mealtimes, I’ve got this stuff to enjoy, along with other videos too
Skall, you should play m&b warband on the other channel!
Evil Skall was amazing! Super clever and charmingly funny :3
I really like the idea of bringing more "characters" into the show, whether it be guests or alter egos!
_Skallagrim has entered the frame_
So I’m trying to watch as many videos as possible to get a decent idea of longsword combat and defense for a high fantasy story I’m writing, and I’m enjoying what I’ve seen so far! Very educational!
04:29 Oh I know this well from Kingdom Come: Deliverance...
Actually impressed with how seamless Laks has been edited in. Good job!
A question: would cutting above the brow to cause blood to blind the opponent be considered viable
If you managed to cut them above the brow with a sword/axe, they're most likely dead or seriously injured.
Max I mean like a nick
I assume if you are already able to cut the brow, you should be able to do considerably more damage than just making your opponent bleed. With enough force you should be able to at the very least cause a concussion and some major bleeding. At the most you would be able to take the skull cap off.

9:19 Mordhau against an unarmored opponent? Come on Skall. You know better >:D
Can I just say that I looooove how well you choreograph yourself to be able to demonstrate the moves with 2 Skalls? Just freaking great, plus the humour is always something to thank for.
Excellent video editing to make the evil twin!
I really love the idea of a series of videos going over the basics of swordsmanship. All most people know about sword fighting is what they've seen on TV and movies.
"You're a rock!" Haha, love that.
i REALLY like that there is no backroundmusic like in the last video! really like your content!
this twin needs to make more appearances

Look, it´s Skalls cousin from Munich!
I get the impression that sometimes Skallagrim is satisfied with his editing skills and their results and so he makes these masterpieces (instead of being annoyed with the additional waste of time).
Poor evil Skall
Loving the clone editing, not only is it very helpful for visual representation, it's freaking funny because of your acting. Awesome work
I'm learning this in lockdown with my evil twin(my brother)
I didn't say anything about the editing and the two Skalls in the Fire Emblem video, but dear God I hope this becomes a regular thing!
I hope you had fun making this vid, you got me laughing and smiling. :) Beautiful Nerf gun conversion too.
Corwin Hyatt Ohey, its that nerf gun Drac made him. good to see it's still around. :D
The effort that went into this.... God damn right you're near a million.
FLYING POMMEL EXIST !!
I am grateful for this Skall as I'm currently doing a round robin story and on character is meant to be a sword master while others are meant to be beginners but at least competent.
Doing anything special for 1,000,000 subs?

Life is good
Dom Brown Don't worry, I modified it to have a pommel.
i love this video, just how casual it is, the added hit noise and the really well edited parry makes me laugh.
I'd think you don't enter murder stroke from a standard grip, but more from already halfswording. Considering the situation at hand I mean.
the work that went into this video, wow. 10/10
Damn! Your twin looks just like you!
it's yet a new world wonder
I'm starting to study some keno and HEMA, this video helped a lot, thank you very much
More evil Skal!
BOTH entertaining AND helpful! LoL! Love your sense of humor!
Turns out I'm writing my first fantasy novel that corresponds with medieval times. Need to understand sword play and terms and this got me off to a good start! Thank you!
You dont like samurai swords because they dont have easily removable pommels
honestly, your editing is so impressive.
Can you safely beat someone with the flat of a sword because my mother just got her hands on one
I loved this video skall don't let TH-cam get you down man keep up the great work I love this channel and I've been watching it for years
Evil skal is evil cause good skal keeps poking evil skal with blunt swords.
That rock-paper-scissors bit sounded so game-like
Bah humans grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
oh my god that editing and timing is flawless
