The polestar 2 performance package does absolutely nothing to acceleration. I feel this is an important note to make. It adds brakes and analog suspension dampers. It's not claiming to be the fastest version of the polestar 2.
It makes differences where it counts, in the corners.
@@DashCamSerbia oh absolutely it makes a difference. I just think it's misrepresentative to say that that the Polestar 2s performance package is intending to make it quicker. It's to make it handle better, as you say.

@@raymondsmith9936 Yeah maybe so. But I think performance can mean more than quickness though, right? If it handles better that a performative aspect as well. Tesla has just trained us (and has earned the right to do so by being the leader in the segment) to think that 0-60 time is what "performance" means for EVs.

Well we already know the result so why’s this even a thing 😆. Also you also have the slowest version of the polestar 2 because there is only one model. Yes you can have a performance pack but it doesn’t add speed
Tbh that's the fastest Polestar in the line as the slower models will come later.

Every car design looks a bit "busy" and the same after looking at a model 3 tho. I like how absolutely nothing on teslas (and porsches) is fake
Volvo and VW are really hitting the trend in terms of design with their straight lines. Tesla can sometimes look a bit 2010 with their softer curves.

Why are you comparing Tesla Model 3 Performance to the Polestar 2 Performance? Polestar 2 Performance doesn't have a single HP more than the non-Performance model. You should compare the TM3 non-performance to the Polestar 2 (performance / non-performance).

The non performance PS2 is actually faster in a straight line than the performance version.

@@susand9296 a dual motor without the performance pack(which did not include the additional software upgrade for the '20-21 cars) does 0-100 faster in real world tests, 4,4sec Vs 4,7sec. This is without the additional performance software update on both versions. There is no reason to believe this won't be the same with the software upgrade as it is available for both versions. Unverified numbers are 4,1 Vs 4,4 sec. But who really cares?
There's a good ten grand difference in price between these. A more realistic race would be P2 dual motor, and the Model 3 long range.

To be honest I would've have preferred a rolling acceleration test , more relatable and used in real life situation ( entering the highway , overtaking etc) that the "gag" reverse gear test. One point I want to raise, it's quite normal that in overly wet condition the P*2 has a better launch : the higher weight translate in more grip at the wheels , advantage that is lost quickly as to accellerate more mass requires more energy. Both are perfectly fine EVs with strengths and weaknesses .

After trying both cars I went for the model 3 performance. My reasons are simple. I thought id hate the model 3 minimalistic interior but after just driving it for an hour at the dealership and getting back into my audi and the polestar 2 everything just felt so cluttered. There was too much stuff in there so litlle space. So the model 3's interior won me over fairly quickly. And even the spedometer on the screen id thought id hate it but I got used to it super fast. Secondly it was the center console on the polestar 2. I am 6'2 or 190cm. And the center console in polestar 2 just completelly ruined my right knee. Scraping it and vibrations from the road didnt help. After an hour I got out and had such pain in it. Thirdly the speed in the model 3 performance is far superior. It feels like a familly sedan with a sports car thrown into the mix. And ive always loved sedans more .
I actually like the Polestars design better.
So I chose the Polestar 2 and it arrives in few weeks 🤩

Rory - Electric cars, unlike petrol cars, can go as fast backwards and they can forwards.
Dan - I'm up to 15 mph backwards and that's all I've got.

I have a Polestar so may be a little bias but it looks so much better. Other commenters are correct there is no speed enhancement on the top model. Tesla has launch control. However the launch of the Polestar is amazing.

Actually not the fastest version of the Polestar, the "Performance" pack doesn't actually add any extra power. In fact it probably slows down the car with the larger wheels if anything.
It would be the faster version round a track, but perhaps the same in a straight line.

Why does nobody compare the standard non performance AWD model versus the polestar 2?? They are more equal in performance, although Tesla will still likely win.

@@DanLMH true. Although in the states when you factor in the rebates that you get with the P2, it does put it possibly cheaper than the AWD non performance if you don’t get the performance pack on the P2.
The TM3 is more comparable to the Polestar 2. It costs the same and has similar performance. The £5k P2 performance option doesn’t actually improve the 0-60 time or top speed. It adds some adjustable suspension, 21” wheels, gold seat belts and brakes.
It depends what metric you want to compare, M3LR for similar acceleration, M3SR+ for range
@@towelies4884 In the US the base Polestar 2 is $59,900. Minus the $7500 rebate it comes to $52,400. The Model 3 AWD costs $46,990. The Model 3 Performance costs $54,990.
The Polestar 2 after the tax incentive is still a lot closer to the cost of the Model 3P than the Model 3 AWD.

No, you can clearly see it's a Model 3P (rims/brake calipers/etc)
This should have been the P*2 Vs M3LR, as the performance Tesla is £6k more expensive. It's like comparing a 330i to a full fat BMW M3, the outcome is obvious.
I guess it depends on which metric you want to compare and in which country... For example in the US the M3P is $10k cheaper and the SR+ has a better EPA range.
What are you talking about the model 3 performance is $55,000 the P2 performance. So for 5k less you actually get a faster car going with Tesla. Not to mention
Better software
Better infotainment
Better range
Superior supercharging network
Superior autopilot features
Better looking design
@@zandercerlong7238 since this was filmed here in the UK, I'm going with our current prices, and as I say, the M3 performance is almost £6k more than the Polestar. And from my perspective, all the Tesla LR has going for it is range and the supercharger network, which are a bit sparse in this neck of the woods. All the other things you listed are subjective, and I prefer the Swedish cool of the Polestar 🤷🏻♂️
@@zandercerlong7238 prices are different in the UK where the video is set. In the US I believe the Polestar 2 perfomance with leather seats is the same price as the Model S LR. I think Polestar will struggle in the US with that competition and their pricing structure.

POLESTAR 2 is best when backing up! Like many manufacturers they go to electric cars while backing !!!! and it's the fastest! Tesla always faster forward (to the future and beyond !!!)
Backup light is out on the passenger side of the model 3.
That's the driver side and its not out it only has one in the uk, other side is used as a fog light.

It’s amazing how NONE of the car reviewers understand that they should use the Long Range Tesla Model 3 vs the Polestar 2. Come on people. Here in norway, those are also the ones closest to one another in price, I’d love to see some drag races between them. Also because it seems the Polestar 2 might be a bit quicker than the official numbers, and the LR Model 3 has been updated since launch. That would actually be an interesting video.
Why does Norway get to be the litmus test for EV comparisons? In the US the base Polestar 2 even after the tax incentive that the Model 3 doesn't get is still $5,400 more than the Model 3 AWD. The Model 3P in the US is only $2,000 more than the base Polestar 2 with tax incentive. Add the Performance pkg. to the Polestar 2 and it is more than the Model 3 Performance.
The US will buy more Model 3s and Polestars than Norway. It's fair to compare all countries and their prices but let's not pretend that any one country, especially one that doesn't have the most sales, is the where the bar should be set for comparisons.

the model 3 performance has 80 horse power more, of course it is quicker. Sadly it looks horrible, The PS2 looks are much nicer. My PS2 drives very well, I am a happy owner.
When can I do a drag race in real life? Maybe a good acceleration is needed when you want to overtake, or entering into highway. But other than that? For me a useless test, sorry guys.
Guessing this is from the last video a month or so ago, as the polestars have been recalled.

Sub 50k tesla 3 vs polestar 2 makes sense.
For sub £50k you need to compare the PS2 (non performance pack) vs Model 3 LR
I think they should compare P2 with the TM3SR+ as both have comparable EPA range and not much difference in acceleration.
When you know you can't beat Tesla but you want to win somehow.😉

Not exactly. Technically closest but not by much.
The Polestar 2 with Performance pkg. shown in the video is £52,800. £46,900 + £5,000 for perf. pkg. The configurator then requires you to pick a paint that isn't the free base color with the perf. pkg. This adds another £900.
The Model 3 Performance is £56,490. So the Model 3 Performance is only £3,690 more. The Model 3 LR AWD costs £49,990 which is £2,810 less.
The Polestar 2 with performance pkg. is in between the two in cost. Get rid of the performance pkg. like the one in the video then what you say is true.
By the end of 2021 this will no longer be true however once the Tesla factory in Berlin is making Model 3s and won't have the expensive shipping and import costs.

@@SDK2006b I think he means that if the Polestar 2 was more efficient, then to stay in the 250 bracket you mentioned Polestar could use less batteries, thus sell at a better price. Its a tough one as they would be heavily reliant on their supply chain to improve as I believe they buy their power train and batteries in.
@@SDK2006b People get fixated with range, yes, it can be annoying except that offering more range (and here we're not talking just few miles) per similar battery pack means much more than just going than point A to point B , it means that you have a lower battery degradation and less time to spend at the charger , (especially if you have only 50kW chargers around or are in the sticks and with only 7.4-11kW or granny chargers) . Also on long trips the Polestar 2 can't hit anywhere near 250 miles but around 200 , even with the 19" wheels .
Model 3 is faster and $6,000 less than polestar 2. Model 3 is also better in every other way. Range, supercharging network, software, infotainment, autopilot
The price depends a lot from where you live! In USA you right, as you have to pay the importation of the polestar, Tesla is cheaper.

The Polestar 2 offers value for money. But it sort of pretends to be a Scandinavian car, while it is 100% Chinese (Volvo = Polestar = Geely). That's why I would never ever consider buying this car.

Polestar for the looks, the safety, the much better built quality, CarPlay and so on; model 3 for the speed.
For speed, range, bigger and more reliable charging network, and so on. Also saying that the P*2 is safer it's a bit biased and subjective since it's based on "muh Volvo heritage" instead of objective data like tests.
The Model 3 seems very safe, based on tests results.

Come on let's be honest with ourselves here, electric cars are so soulless, quiet and boring you need to add a reverse drag just to even try to make it slightly interesting.
About 95% of all cars are intended as transportation, not to thrill, no matter what system of propulsion they use. Nobody gets excited by a delivery van. So compared with a Lamborghini Aventador, you are right, compared to a Polo or Corolla, much more important cars than any Lambo, who cares, might as well be electric.
