7:13 ... Best usable live band settings of the whole video, 100%

I'm digging the sound of this much more than the original. Seems to have many more usable tones, that are dial-able.
    Great demo!

Thanks. Another helpful video on these monsters. Been delving into Death by Audio a bit recently, and my pedal guy put me onto these. Can't wait for mine to arrive! Just ordered it. ☺ (I realise I'm many moons behind on these, but thanks )

does it sound better after a buffer than the original germanium one? i love the fuzz factory but with the way my pedalboard is set up (using a true bypass looper and such) i can't have it first in the chain. the original got really thin sounding after a buffer

I made one of these and found it to have a lot more usable settings than the germanium one. Do you find it to be the same with this one?

It's maybe a bit easier to control and much much fatter...yeah probably more usable...and I LOVE the germanium FF...one of my all time favourite pedals but this may just take its spot - very impressed

IMO, to my ears, Silicon has a very different attack and decay from Germanium, which makes the latter truly unique and desireable.I've only heard a few Si circuits that escaped the characteristic high gain, one dimensional quality, ( like the EQD Dirt Transmitter)and in all possible types of clipping options, Si is my least favourite. It's one of those things you can't unhear once you've compared it.
Zvex designed a great basic circuit, and the original FF, and Fat version, would be perfect if they weren't so unstable and temp sensitive, much better for controlled or home environments( and better with a battery. What makes them unique and different are the specific qualities that are lost first, when they get a little to warm).Zvex managed, by tweaking the original circuits, to get some sounds out of the Si that stand on their own; I wouldn't compare it nose to nose, but it is preferable to their other Si efforts, especially the Mastotron, and more flexible than 90% of similar pedals out there.
