Great demo, subscribed! I also very much appreciated the well deserved jab at Tube Screamers. The Carcosa sounds like it would be just perfect for torturing the hell out of a clean(Ish) amp in a noise rock band or something.
One of the best demos of the Carcosa, thank you so much for explaining knobs and letting us hear as you tweaked them! Great demo of a great fuzz! I’ll add that the Carcosa takes boosts really well. I like it dialed in to give a sort of fuzzy distortion sound (‘before’ around 2 o’clock, ‘after’ around 9 o’clock) and hit it with a Tube Screamer. Huge, saturated lead tone. With some reverb/delay it’s a great Gilmour sound. Again, great demo. Thanks!
It's such a great pedal. If I had to sell all of my Fuzzes bar one or two, I'd seriously consider keeping the Carcosa and maybe one of my favourite Muffs, or my treasured Caroline Olympia. The Carcosa can do most everything from Overdrive, Maestro, Tonebender to Fuzzface tones, but not Big Muff. I'm curious about the new DOD Cthonic Fuzz. It seems like a companion piece to the Carcosa. That's a shame. There are some DIY kits out there, I'm sure. Or at least schematics online, if you or someone you know are handy with a solder iron!
I see that you have the Eisenhower fuzz as well how they compare? What do you like more?
The Eisenhower is basically a Superfuzz/Hyper Fuzz/SF300. It's got the octave vive and the huge scoop of the tone toggle. So not really like a Carcosa at all. They're both gnarly but certainly different vibes.
