  • Hope this video helps you decide if you want a Hordpower intake for your bike! When riding its a night and day difference. The front wheel comes up so easy on the Hordpower bike compared to the others and overall it makes the bike a lot more fun to ride! Just a note, Hordpower did not pay me to make this video or do they know i even did. These 3 bikes tested where paid for by myself or my friends.

    Tried to get this video as accurate as possible which is why I didn't want to launch the bikes. Instead at 40kph I was able to go in when editing and start the timer at the exact time my wrist turns to give it full throttle. Also Hordpower did not pay or know I am making this video. I purchased the intake myself and was curious what the results would be side by side with other bikes.

    What I wonder here is: if something SO simple as a repro and something SO cheap as a better filter - wouldn't Yamaha have done it from the get go to gain such massive amounts of power and sheet specs to flex on the media and stand out better?
    In short, I believe Yamaha hasn't done such extremely easy and cheap things from factory because they must truly be detrimental to the bike's health.

    • @averagefz0749
      @averagefz0749  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its because its what every manufacturer does. Take a look at all car and/or bike manufacturers. All vehicles are tuned to meet emission and regulatory standards around the world and sacrifice power for this.
      Every vehicle, if you throw a tune and a air intake on it, it will make more power. But this bike is not a race bike so they don't need to "stand out" because the way it comes from factory 95% of buyers will be happy with it.
      From a reliability standpoint, yes, modifying an engine will reduce its life expectancy. But as long as you are throwing a proper tune on it and not trying to get every HP out of the engine, you'll be ok. Realistically if an engine is designed for 500,000km, i can't see a proper tune reducing that by more than 5-10% at most.

      @averagefz0749  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not true. Actually just installed a high flow filter in the silver bike shown in the video. That bike now has the stock airbox, air filter and tune and it was still slower. Around 10.1-9.9s compared to the 8.89 that the hordpower bike did

    • @hordboy
      @hordboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No drop-in filters add much power. The problem is not the filter, but the design of the OEM airbox. Intake runner length too long, volume too small. The Hordpower filter is a 4hp gain by itself. Add an ECU flash and good exhaust, (I’m a fan of the Yosh, best bang for the buck) and you’re looking at 9-10hp peak gain over a stock bike. And in the upper rpm ranges, it’s more like a 15hp gain, minimum. That’s very, very noticeable on a bike that makes 67-68hp from the factory!

    • @jonnybonny4193

      @@jonnybonny4193 read what I posted again. 9-10hp peak power gain. In the upper reaches (8500+) where stock power falls off hard, the airbox lets it keep making power all the way to 10,500, so the gains are bigger. If you do t believe it that’s fine. I have the dyno and charts to prove it. And multiple other tuning shops will back it up.

    You f***d the test up mate, look at how much tuck you have with the hoard power run vs the other 2. Tucking has a bigger impact than a few extra hp and that's why there was such a big difference. You wanted to be consistent but weren't consistent with your body positioning.

    • @averagefz0749
      @averagefz0749  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s impossible to do a test 100% perfect in these conditions. Bike 3 with the hordpower airbox I had to put more pressure on the bars as when shifting gears from 1-2 and 2-3 the front wheel pops up. This alone shows the power difference that it makes as this didn’t happen on the other 2 bikes. On the other bikes this was not an issue. Also if you take a look at bike 2 and bike 3 the “tucking” is pretty much the same. Grab the airbox yourself and do some tests. You’ll find the difference impressive.
