I appreciate the time you took to make the video. I myself went with the K&N. U.S.A made which means I help put Americans to work. That and I exchanged emails with Nels Byersdorf over at 2 Wheel Motorworks and he stated that the DNA has no advantage as far as performance gains over the K&N filter. He said they perform exactly the same.
i went with DNA coz USA have enough money already,so i prefer to help Greece at this part :)

Jake, you should seriously consider doing some sort of basic workshop/mechanic series on your channel. You are really good at explaining in a pedagogical way how to do things, why you do a certain thing in a certain way and so on.
I mean, I suppose you're already doing sort of a workshop series, but I'm thinking more content like this, and not just the stuff you do to your own bikes but maybe talk about general tips and tricks too. You're fucking good at it, man.
K&N's filter was made to still use the snorkel while DNA's was made to not use it, it's that simple.
DNA wants $76 for the filter and they want $100 for a plastic lid, why does the lid cost more than the actual filter unit, and more importantly why does it cost $100? If I was $20 I'd be ok with it $96 for both no problemo, but $176 for both?
I really like the history lessons honestly any video I watch I learn something I really appreciate you.

Thank you for the video, Jake. I have seen almost all the upgrades you did to this bike. I recently upgraded the air filter on my FZ-07 and would like to know what fuel map you utilized with the DNA filter upgrade stage 2 and stock exhaust.
Hey Jake. Look up "FZ-07 Hord airbox mod". Evidently there's a decent amount of power to be had, tossing the airbox altogether.

Holy Crap! That's the hardest air filter to get to, I've ever seen!
would you suggest purchasing the dna door with the dna filter or just removing the snorkel and using that for the dna filter cause the filter is 76 bucks an that fancy door is 100 bucks

i think the tube is for when its raining really bad they make the bikes to work good and it can help with low rpm torq even f1 mercedes engine has inlet tubes that can change to get longer or shorter to maximize power

K&N filters were the rage, everyone put them on cars, trucks, and motorcycles, until we finally were informed that they let a lot of dirt through. Especially once the oil dissipates, after about 5 months. Everyone says they clean and oil them often, but if it's not written down, it's not getting done. And it's an overnight job, to allow the washed filter to dry. Never have seen a shop mechanic do that right, they just blow them off and oil them up.

I feel lucky that, not only does my ride not have a shit-ton of plastics around it, but the tank is hinged and has a built-in prop rod to keep it up for air filter and carb work.
Good to hear about a company giving k&n some legit competition. Great comparison. I'll try this new company out if you like their filter after you try it out. At $124 for mine, definitely need to see a noticeable improvement on your bike first.
Be interesting to see if they do any full kits for the 1290R, mine will be needing something soon!

I have this filter on my bike. Do you think I have to spend $35 bucks to get the dedicated DNA Cleaning kit OR I can just use hot water + detergent and just use normal air filter oil to lubricate??

Thanks for the tips jake especially with putting the screws into the air box cover without chewing out the threads. Installing dna filter and stage 2 cover on my 2019 mt07 today.

I noticed that you left the airbox intake exposed/open after removing the snorkel. Is there any need to cover it with mesh or a grill of some kind?

You should have went with the Hordpower FZ-07 airbox. 4-5hp gain on stock engines. Best intake for the FZ-07 at the moment.

+Noah Snyder I wouldn't have done exhaust without doing tuning and intake first. Most are the other way. Put on exhaust immediately and then fix the running like ass issue after.

Really want to do the Stage 2 dna. But the tuning is not so simple. In the uk the only thing i have found is the power commander. Total cost tuned will be around £700ish. Will be waiting for your performance comparison. If possible can you compare 5th gear roll on, top speed etc.

Jake, please make something showing hot to rejet the carb and find the right jet sizes when you do change the air filter. I'm building a bike and putting a different filter on but have no idea how to rejet the carb

i have the MT07 air system with that ufo bowl he's talking about at 1:41. I have the EJK unit by Dobeck and an Akra Carbon. the recommended setting suggest to take off the snorkel, so i did. Do i need to take off the 'Flappy' unit also? or should i leave it there? or how can i make the door just like the system on Fzs?
