    Glen Gould e' sublimazione!!! Che tocco!!!

    One of the factors in Gould's touch that is consantly criticised is is his use of staccato.
    The staccato helps to bring out the independence of the counterpoint.
    Many people believe what they have been taught, or have been exposed to, but few can just listen and appreciate this unique genius, without attaching preconceived ideas about what Bach "should' sound like. 'This' is what Bach should sound like, becuase Gould makes Bach's music sound better than all the other pianists combined.

    A beautiful piece, beautifully played. Balm for the soul. Listen also to Gould playing Bach's English suite # 2. Superb.

    No pedal was used to imitate the harpsichord which was what Bach used because the piano was not invented back then.

    By the age of 50 I have got sufficiently deaf not to hear Gould humming. I conclude that to me, this is the perfect age for listening to his recordings.

    There should be a second Minuet. Does anyone know why did Gould record only one of them?

    @veloqis I doubt he would use it much, certainly in fugue for it would disturbs tha clarity of the voices.

    i played this suite and i think the tempo of glenn in the Allemande works beautifully with his Glenn touch. His touch is so unique to him should be named after him it is recognizable among all for its singing and transparence contrapunctal without feeling the weariness that comes from sluggish rubbish interpretations. Only morons would say let me recommend this over Gould. Nobody comes close.

    @MrHellokeven "LOL"? What would be so funny that it required you to use this meme, and in caps no less? You also seem to be under the impression that I'm not calm. I assure you that I am, though I am slightly annoyed now after having read your comment. So can I give you some advise? How about you shrink back into whatever hole you came out of and refrain from making such inane comments in the future.

  • @Kelebesotis
    @Kelebesotis 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    @naringrass. Too late to ask him to stop the humming. He died about 32 years ago. But I agree it added nothing to his otherwise wonderful playing.

    @yesplease91 No, it's not amazing. It distracts from the music being played, at least for me. It's the only thing that bothers me about Gould, but it's enough for me to generally avoid him.
