One of the most overlooked aspects of a double piano concerto. They get this right. Instead of putting the two pianos side by side which means nobody really can hear who plays what, now they put them next to each other back to back, so that now everyone can tell who plays what.

Does anyone remember the first time they heard the music of Bach. For me it was a life-changing moment. A day after which love of music was total. I grew up on Stravinsky, Beethoven, Mozart about age four when discovering my parents’ record collection and integrated turntable, common in the late 1950s. These were all hidden away in a hall closet none of us kids used and, so childlike, I assumed it was my secret. I remember the smell of the clothes, the near darkness, the dark green paper centers with shiny silver writing of mysterious names - Igor, Amadeus, Ludvig. Who were these people? Did they know Burl Ives? I had older sisters in school, their reading and writing a direct challenge giving me a very early skill. The even more mysterious titles - Rites of Spring, Concerto, Opus which I found in the dictionary - thanks, sisters. It was a whole new language describing what would come to be my life. Especially meaningful to me was Rites Of Spring with its seemingly endless introduction, its violent harmonies and polyrhythms. That was my spot, my secret room, and so when I grew older Stravinsky was not strange at all. But Bach; now this was special. It is slightly odd that a Bach piano concerto was the real avant-garde of my small collection. So pretty yet powerful, inscrutable, a formula I could not crack. It would be some three years before I began to learn to play Beethoven and Bach on piano and finally understood the strangeness that had mesmerized me.
Great performance by two excellent musicians, and an equally excellent orchestra! Also, just look at the masterful and inspiring way the conductor, Takács-Nagy, is dancing to the riveting rhythm of one of the most beautiful keyboard concertos written by the greatest composer of all times, J.S. Bach!
Why are you making a judgement? Trifonov better in Bach than in Chopin, better in Chopin than in Rachmaninov, better in Rachmaninov than in Schumann, better in Schumann than in Beethoven, etc.? That's just simply stupid. Why don't you respect the respective greatness and individuality of the composers as well as of the performers in their works?
@@Alessandro_da_Rimini Your answer is once again pure nonsense in terms of content and form. I am not claiming to be right because I have been listening for over 50 years, but because your "judgment" on the matter is simply stupid. I have already posted the reasoning; unfortunately, you are still defending your nonsense. Do you have such a weak ego that you can't show any insight?

You’re absolutely right! It really makes a difference with much more clearness
Excellent observation.
Smart thinking to put the two pianos next to each other, because the sound is magnificent!
one pianist can't see the conductor though
In this case (Babayan and Trifonov) it really doesnt matter 😆

This version is also good.
We all know it as thus. Bach wrote 3&4 keyboard concertos. U need a small string group. The slow mov is famous in all Dee movies.
Yes this is the famous double violin concerto in Dm apparently transposed here in Cm and played by two pianos .
It is Bach himself who later transcribed his original for two violins (BWV 1043) as a concerto for two harpsichords (BWV 1062).
