    When singers were singers. They stood alone, no lip syncing, auto tune, just pure talent! Where did it all go?

      It went into this "no talent-computer-dependent-so-called-artist", Seeing this i'm so sure that we have hit the peak of soul and we never ever will see another AL GREEN with the smooth and wonderful production from a true giant like WILLIE MITCHELL.

    Al Green and his band, and the funky way they recorded his first records, with the scratchy horns, that Hammond organ created a sound and music that was totally in a class in itself. His emotional falsetto, unique resonance of his body, created a new different 'color' in the sound of a soul singer. PERFECTION skinny body, and soul which oozed out his pores with every note, cemented him into fabric of Soul soul music.. Memphis, and Motown. I loved. The instrumentation and arrangements of those early songs, cemented and syndicated him into something totally unique.

    Happy 76th Birthday today April 13, 2022 to the great Al Green, born April 13, 1946.
    Al Green is one of the most enduring soul singers of the rock era, and is considered by many the most important male singer since Sam Cooke. He has also been referred to as "The Last of the Great Soul Singers." His early 70s work on Hi Records sounds as good today as it did then, and his legend has continued to grow over the past quarter century even as he generally turned his back on popular music.
    Green is the winner of 11 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also received the BMI Icon award and is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient. He was included in the list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, ranking at No. 65, as well as its list of the 100 Greatest Singers, at No. 14.

      Tina did an excellent cover of this song ❤

    • @billv1072
      @billv1072 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarciaSantos-ox1fk To each his own. I thought it was just ok. A little kareoke-like. About 1 & 1/2 steps below the original, but still ok.

    • @MarciaSantos-ox1fk
      @MarciaSantos-ox1fk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@billv1072 I agree that the original recording is probably better. But don’t disrespect the great Tina Turner by calling her version, which some considers iconic, to be a “little karaoke”. Rude 😑

    • @billv1072
      @billv1072 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MarciaSantos-ox1fk I've listened to the best for many years, and am entitled to my opinion. Respect has nothing to do with it. Tina Turner was a great talent, and will be sadly missed. But on this song, I believe her cover was merely "passable". Maybe listen a little more before you call someone rude? Not everyone has to agree with you, or with me. It's ok.

    • @MarciaSantos-ox1fk
      @MarciaSantos-ox1fk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@billv1072 well clearly there’s something wrong with your ears for you to refer to Tina’s version, which was a monster hit record, as “passable”. Tina’s version not only went to no.1 in several countries but was also the best selling 12” record in 1984 thereby outselling Al’s version. Of course you’re entitled to your “opinion” but I’m also entitled to call out your BS statement and pathetic attempt to diminish Tina’s success with the record.

    QUANxboy56, mhertz25: You have to watch his performances on "Soul!" with a mostly Black audience to see the difference. Believe it or not, in his January 3, 1973 appearance on "Soul!" he wears the same jacket. In order, they are: "Let's Stay Together", "Tired Of Being Alone", "Look What You Done For Me", "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart", "Judy." and "Love and Happiness."

    40年前に岐阜、土岐市下石のクラブ「友信」でお世話になったママは、いまは70ぐらいかな、きれいな人でした、そのころよく聞きました。

    Let's stay together
    I, I'm I'm so in love with you Whatever you want to do Is all right with me
    Cause you make me feel so brand new And I want to spend my life with you
    Let me say that since, baby, since we've been together Ooh, loving you forever Is what I need
    Let me, be the one you come running to I'll never be untrue Oh baby
    Let's, let's stay together ('gether) Lovin' you whether, whether Times are good or bad, happy or sad
    Oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah
    Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad
    Why, somebody, why people break up? Oh, then turn around and make up I just can't see
    BUT You'd never do that to me (would you, baby?) Just being around you is all I see
    Here's what I want us do Let's, we oughta stay together ('gether) Loving you whether, whether
    Times are good or bad, happy or sad
    Come on
    Let's, woo (let's stay together) let's stay together
    Loving you whether, whether times are good or bad
