I haven't watched the flash in 2 years or whichever season where the big bad was him from the future.
I started disliking Barry when they went to Earth-2 and he got their Joe killed, and robbed Earth-2 Barry of the chance to be with Earth-2 Joe in his last moments and reconcile. Then Barry gives that garbage speech of whatever reality it is they will always be his family.
No Barry they're not. All Barry cares about was his happiness and he didn't give a darn if his friends got caught in the crossfire.

This reads like a tutorial on how to Mary Sue-ify a character. Just take actual flaws/problems that a character would normally have, and then pick away all the aspects that actually make them bad!
-No formal combat training? Well, you _could_ make the character an experienced brawler that is woefully outclassed by formally trained fighters...or you could make her "highly skilled and wildly undisciplined." See, she's _too_ good at asskicking!
-Homeless? Well, you _could_ make the character very knowledgeable of the streets and the city's seedy underbelly, but at the cost of the _laundry_ _list_ of daily problems the average homeless person faces...or you could have her live in a van instead of an apartment while looking like she has the daily attention of a nutritionist, a personal trainer, and a team of makeup artists. Oh, and she's totes well-fed enough that she can afford to risk stealing things for random strays. Note that this is also the thinly-veiled audience pandering of 'No parents to tell me, I mean _her_ what to do,' which requires stripping away any negative aspects.
-Wanted by the police? Well, you _could_ make the possibility of arrest a constant danger to the character, made all the worse by their lack of a supportive social circle...or you could just have her live in a van with inexplicably clean plates, an up-to-date inspection sticker, and little-to-no need for gas or basic maintenance (because public transportation is icky and walking is hard, so of course she needs a no-strings-attached automobile). And if she ever gets stopped by police, she can totes just beat them up effortlessly and suffer no consequences afterward, because cops don't look for you any harder if you put one or more of their own in traction.
-Lives in semi-voluntary isolation from close, regular social contact? Well, you _could_ make them struggle with normal interactions and encounter numerous roadblocks that come from having virtually no references/contacts outside of homeless camps...or could could just give her lots of one-night stands with lesbians that look like supermodels fresh from a photoshoot, because getting laid a lot is totally a problem if you have the character occasionally sad that they don't have someone to Netflix and chill with.
And so forth and so on.
