When those involved in the creation of these things act out and attack fans (or in this case 'potential fans' because they started attacking even before the show began), those fans respond in kind.
If you make a good product and you don't mouth off at the people enjoying it, you'll find that you end up with a good fandom.
Cormoran if they didn’t harp on the woman factor and got a good actress and rolled the show out like they did the other cw shows I bet it would have been successful despite pandering. Supergirl gets its fair share of heat but it isn’t hated like this.

Root cause of all this misandrist dross - woke intersectional Feminism. AKA Toxic Femininity (in one of its numerous manifestations).
Even if there are 'toxic womanhating fans' they at most account for 1% variation in the rating. There are people who will shun a show simply for one member of its cast, so I will accept that another 1% is people who hate Ruby Rose for whatever reason, not because she's a woman. Unless 21% is fresh, the difference isn't really a difference. Legends of Tomorrow has a gay character but it's not made into a big deal, supergirl has a gay sister but while it's a bigger deal there, it's still not all encompassing or unbelievable. And how that character came out on the show to her mom seemed very real and beautifully done, it's not like you can't have gay characters being true to themselves in a show. But it requires at least SOME sincerity, talent and audience goodwill that they earned in previous episodes/seasons.
Batwoman is basically starting their season with 'I am a cool butch lesbian, respect me' and no, you have to earn respect and appreciation.
I know there's still good writing being done, complex characters with multiple traits but believable because of the 'personality sketch' they've painted for you in previous episodes (Think of Nairobi in Casa Di Papel, fantastic character), it just doesn't leave room for showboating their 'specialness' or virtue signalling. It's just a cool show with cool characters, one of which happens to be bi and another that's gay. I hate when they blame fan response to their lack of talent on 'toxicity'.
TL;DR: They produce shit, can't deal with people pinching their nose in response to smelling the shit. Good writing can be done, just not by them because there's no room for character development because of the virtue signalling.

Superheroes can have messages against bigotry, but needs to have good writing. Stan Lee understood this. Stan Lee was pretty progressive, but the man could write. There are people that say that things like diversity and inclusion ruin works, but Stan Lee would disagree. Like Stan Lee had said:
