Okay, Tara Strong has never felt like she was doing an impression. Her version of Harleys voice is HER version of Harleys voice. There is a clear noticable difference when she talks.
Tara's version is much higher pitched and has a distant, near ditzy trait to her voice that occasionally switches to a slightly more... grouchy, deeper, and more excitable tone. The original VA doesn't have that, for the most part sounding like a normal person from Brooklyn

The one from The Animated Series is the only Harley that I straight-up love. She was more than just a silly character to make audiences laugh; she was also a somewhat realistic commentary on the effects of abusive relationships.

About 95% of the outfit translate super well to live action but it all comes down to the cap or rather its prongs. I think the best way of going about it is to make them floppy, put the hair in pig tails and stuff them in there.
Yeah, I agree, it doesn't translate very well, the colour scheme works though and can be translated into many different attires.
It looks cheap and weird tbh. If they took off the head piece and altered a bit then it could be okay. I prefer when Harley uses her original colors and references the og costume by the pattern of the clothes and etc, and uses a jacket or something

Kaley Cuoco's Harley Quinn is like all the things that made Harley an interesting character all in one. To me, she should be like the new template from now on

@Beta I'm sorry, don't know what you're talking about, her voice is perfect. I only know it was Kaley's voice because of the credits, I've seen The Big Bang Theory and she doesn't sound like that at all. The outfit is cool, I don't think is over sexualized, it has the color scheme from the original, the design from some comics and the pigtails that Margo Robbie and the videogames made popuplar with the pink and the blue.
The original outfit only worked in the Batman animated series because she was just another Joker's goon.
@@johandrytenias1725 her voice is perfect for this version of the character. She did pheonemal. I just don't think it's that memorable of a character other than her story and her arc. Personality wise not as memorable. Like when you're watching the show you actually laugh at her jokes but it's a comedy show and mostly everyone is funny. I low-key hate king shark and clayfaces voices. They are so annoying. I hate them.
Basically I'm saying she's a regular person. No gimmick. Nothing special. Just normal person who makes fun of everyone else. It's well written but forgettable due to it

My top five favorite Harley Quinn.
1/2 Arleen Sorkin and Kaley Cuoco. If Harley is with the Joker then Arleen but when she is doing her own thing or with Ivy then Kaley.
3. Margot Robbie.
4. Tara Strong.
5. Hynden Walch.
To be honest, I don't even think Tara Strong can really duplicate what Arleen did. She has certainly come the closest out of anyone that has tried and I do give her mad props for that, but I do still think there is a noticeable difference between Terra and Arleen. There's a certain energy to Arleen's performance that, at least in my opinion, no one has ever managed to capture through no real fault of their own. That version of the character was made with Arleen in mind and as expected, she suits that role prefectly. Anyone else attempting to do exactly what she did is just naturally going to come up short. Having just finished watching the Harley Quinn series, (thank you for the recommendation by the way.) I think Kaley is every bit as good a Harley as Arleen and the primary reason for that is because she plays a very different Harley. She and the writers made the very wise choice to avoid just doing the 90s Harley again and instead decided to do their own thing with the character. That Batman the Animated Series style for Harley Quinn can only really be played to perfection by the person that the character was written for. The only way to possibly get a performance on that same level with a different actress is to go for a unique take on the character.

Kaley Cuoco's version is great. I keep telling people that while she doesn't sound LITERALLY like Harley Quinn, she sounds like what Harley Quinn represents. Her incarnation doesn't have the Brooklyn accent, although the show made it clear that she's a Bensonhurst native anyway. But she sounds even crazier than Arleen Sorkin and that is definitely a plus.

Arkham asylum was a slutty nurse, City was a bit fetishy. Ark Knight was more steampunk. Then along came the suicide squad film / look. A prostitute look for kids.

@@heheooof5670 yes a costume would be nice. Instead of ....regular girl. Which is what she is now. Nothing special at all. She should have a gimmick and a supervillain costume. Face paint or a mask preferably or something. Idk man there's so many costumes you can do with the jester theme. You get stuff like Margot Robbie and Ecco that just have face paint or bleached skin and look perfect. Ecco in the circus drape with the red white and black lines with the harlequin jacket underneath is perfect. Because of the performance too. The Margot Robbie one only works if the hair is white. If it's blonde she looks like any other girl. The outfit itself I don't care about. The shiny jacket and booty shorts are colorful and cool and the white shirt to break it up is nice but as cool as the fishnets are they could have made it less sxualized. There are tons of good looks for the character in comics mostly elseworld comics but still. Portrayals all suck tho.

I really don't think Joker would give a shit, she's someone he has around in clown make-up to help him get stuff done. He plays the part of boyfriend for her obsessive behavior until he gets annoyed and kicks her aside like a pet he couldn't care less about.
Making her like him really isn't a priority because he shouldn't value her or anyone else he has working for him, even if she feels like they're more they really aren't.

A'Myri Deamon I try not to gatekeep. But _Suicide Squad_ had a depiction of Harley where the people involved fundamentally didn’t understand her character and her relationship with the Joker. Because of the wide net this movie was given to attract as many viewers as possible, it is the first exposure many people have of her and their couple dynamic. She suddenly became a heroine and the dynamic between her and the Joker became an idealized one.
Paul Dini intended their relationship to be a textbook example of an abusive relationship with the Joker being a classic narcissist who doesn't truly love her and just keeps her around to manipulate and Harley being the most extreme example of someone with battered spouse syndrome who thinks she has no other option or that she can change him. The movie made the Joker actually love Harley who is now a more willing participant. This glamorizes abuse and toxic relationships.
Now young girls are dressing as Harley like she is a role model and wanting to find their Joker.
The og animated series is probably the best version of Harley Quinn but I like her best in Arkham knight because of her character and I love her design not to mention that amazing classic skin as well. I like playing as Harley in it and I loved her part in the story I wished it could’ve been longer tho

Because they ALL put on an accent, except for two... Haley Cuoco (who SUCKS as Harley Quinn), and the original Harley, Arlene Sorkin... who actually is a NYC comedian. So not an accent.
Arlene also happens to be the best Harley Quinn. But NONE of them gave bad performances... except for Cuoco.
Did you notice how Harley's nan in the Harley animated series looks like old Harley in the batman beyond movie.
The real OC Harley is Judy Holliday from the 1950's movie Born Yesterday, that's who Sorkin was doing an impression of for Harley. I saw that movie by accident and was mesmerized by how Harley Quin like Judy's character was. Mark Hamill actually also did a shout out to that movie when he was talking about Joker and Harley Quin with Kevin Smith.

The Harley Quinn Animated Show on HBO Max!!! I know a lot of people love TAS but I honestly think the new one really develops Harley out of just being the Joker's girlfriend.
Ozkar Lam I honestly dislike both versions as characters even if they are entertaining and funny and the plots are good. TAS Harley feels like a character though. But hbo Harley feels like a regular person not a supervillain with a gimmick. She feels like a civilian and her wardrobe shows that. That and her constant cynicism. Still she's well written and has good jokes but she doesn't feel unique unlike batman and joker and a lot of others from the show. Even ivy is still ...ivy. with changes of course, making her dynamic with harley the opposite of tas
I would argue that despite her attachment to the Joker in Batman tas she was still a fleshed out character with a backstory and inner conflict. Her attachment to Joker actually contributes alot of the depth that her character has.
My favorite Harley is by far the Animated Series version but the coolest design is Arkham Knight Harley

Harley is an accessory to Joker. Try to give her character all you want, she's not a sociopath or anything like the Joker. She KNOWS better but acts "crazy" to be with him.
Joker cares more for Batman than her, and has no problem finding replacements. Just a dysfunctional character striking out on her own..... while constantly mimicking her abuser/soulmate smh
Batman tas Harley Quinn is my favourite Harley. Arleen Sorkin's voice for Harley was perfect and while she had the accent and the fairly high pitched voice, she had great emotional range while stiil maintaining the character.
I also liked the Harley Quinn from the Batman telltale games.

The Original from TAS ist still the one and only Harley Quinn for me. She was cute and i loved the dynamic between her and Joker. Its definitly not a relationship goal, but they were one of the most entertaining couples. The new version might be succesfull, but for me its just a soulless copy.
yeah, Arleen Sorkin had to be #1. She did such a good job they adopted her in the comics. Harley did not exist in the comics before Batman the Animated Series. That means everything the character is is built on Arleen's portrayal. Of course she gets the #1 spot.
Batman the Animated Series Harley Quinn is the best for me but what comes second is assault on Arkham Harley Quinn voiced by the same actress who did Starfire she's the closest they came to the original even beating Tara Strong

Sorry to a lot of you down in the comments but I'm a 100% with Alan on Kaley Cuoco being by far the best Harley Quinn. Yes Arleen Sorkin originated the character. Yes she has fantastic interplay with not only the Joker but Batman, Poison Ivy and anyone given enough time within the show. Yes she's really funny and charming and really sells the mad crush she has on her "pudding" And quite honestly due to it being her ACTUAL VOICE she sells that accent wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more then anyone else. Tara Strong and even Hynden Walch are... passable but my god is the super accented Harley voice done by Melissa Rauch in Batman and Harley Quinn obnoxious. Same with Margot Robbie in Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. Like it was fine in Suicide Squad but Margot was used way more sparringly in that movie and didn't do voice over narration like she does in BOP. But yeah Sorkin does great and is a great second Harley Quinn and quite honestly if Harley Quinn WAS just The Joker's girlfriend who was a psychologist who fell hard for him and will never leave the abuse no matter what she'd be best.
But sorry that stopped being Harley's ONLY character defining trait since at least the start of the 2010's and certainly isn't the case for most of the media starring her now . And IMHO if you want a Harley Quinn who stands out because of just her own performance and actions and personality and not just relations to Mr. J or whatever, you'd go with Cuoco. Maybe she can't play the victim or clueless pawn as well but in terms of playing a funny well rounded interesting enjoyable and unique main lead of a series who can bounce off not just others but stand on her own she is hands down the best no question asked. And sorry but if a character evolved past how they were once defined you have to go with who best represents them overall not just one aspect. I mean the first mainstream batman is Adam West who helped really popularize the character but no one's going to see he's straight up their favorite Batman despite being "first" and yeah that shouldn't be the ase for HQ. Yeah the animated series made her but Harley Quinn the series did her better including the actual voice acting so yeah she's my favorite by far.

Honestly, I think the newest depiction in the Caped Crusader show fell flat. I understand the idea of taking the one side joyous, one side serious and inverting them. However, if her villain side is more sinister, why is she dressed like a jester? Especially if she's not connected to this new Joker. It's a cool idea, but it just doesnt work

Problem with Margot Robbie is that the Harley Joker relationship is supposed to be abusive and someone that has been manipulated.
Margot is too safe portrayal. Melissa Rauch and Kaley Cucoo both did great job as Harley Quinn.
I’m so surprised that some people didn’t notice the recast in the Arkham games, I love Tara Strong, but her voice for Harley is the squeakiest thing, I didn’t know they recasted her until I played the game, but hearing everyone else be the same and then going to her immediately took me out of it
