I tested towing with my 2024 tacoma last week. My camper is a little bit lighter, and I had to go straight up some hills. It was a struggle going at a VERY VERY steep grade, but it did well. I have the 4x4 TRD Sport with manual transmission. I switched from a Tundra to the Tacoma because I just want a vehicle to drive around town, but tow my camper and boat occasionally (few times per year). The 24 Taco fits the bill!
That's why I got running boards for my 2024 tacoma TRD off-road now I don't have no rocks or fling on side of the tacoma i got the rough country running boards they were only 429 dollars well worth it
@strike0909 yes there good for that car doors opening up beside you that's why I got them plus it rocks and mud off the side of your tacoma and back fenders
Man why don't they ship the 2024 Tacoma TRD off-roads with the mudflaps. I did get some running boards that have a wide step like the 429 rough country ones (mine were only 270 on amazon because i know nothing about truck accessories). It took me forever to find mudflaps in stock (grabbed a set of the full size ark splashgaurd + mudflap combo) and from their pictures they do stick out wide. They are arriving tomorrow so i wanna get them on ASAP since i work on a lot gravel. I second what was said in the video, I can hear the thunk of gravel if i don't clean out the tires before heading onto the pavement
Always tow In tow in tow mode ! you put less stress on transmission when it limits you from going in the higher gear ! Transmission will last much longer !
I’m fairly certain the towing capacity on the hybrid is actually less than the straight turbo. I think it’s down to 6000 lbs. That’s why I went with the non hybrid. I wanted the extra towing headroom.
@@BrokenMachine85 the hybrid tows less but I think it will tow better because of the torque. It loses towing capacity because of the weight of the hybrid system I believe. I think it'll be too expensive anyway
I actually didn’t test drive anything. I’ve wanted a Tacoma for years. When the time was right for me I didn’t even consider another vehicle. I knew I wanted a TRD Sport because I’ll probably never off road, and I figured I’d benefit from the stiffer Sport springs while towing.
Great towing review thanks! And Bronze Oxide is the BEST color!
I love that color

BTW, I got the Blue Crush Metallic. It's the better color hahahaha
Good looking truck! Wish I could afford one!

I wasn’t sure about those ones but now I definitely want them, they’re good to prevent people opening the door into your door too

@@davidchenette1091 alright I’m ordering some haha
Yah the mud flaps suck! I’m waiting for weathertec to come out with some, in the mean time I had some more PPF put on the rear fenders

Greatly appreciate the real world review. I'm wondering how much different the hybrid option would be for towing

Did you test drive both sport and off-road?
How is the ride quality difference?

Is there a transmission cooler on that new taco? / Tow Package? The generation 3 came with a transmission cooler standard,,
I believe all models (except for the SR trim) come with a transmission cooler. Fairly certain of this.
What did you keep you gain setting at towing your trailer?
I think I had it set at 7.5
Toyota doesn’t recommend towing on cruise control on many of their trucks. You may want tow check your manual on that.
Hello, I got a interior item that fit for 2024 toyota tacoma. Do you have any interest in filming a video for it? Thank you. 😃
Nice truck. Sorry to hear you live in NY.
Why what’s wrong with NY?
