    Never bought a Bilt Hamber product that I wasn’t happy with. Trusted products.

      Auto Wash is shite. Needed 1/3 of a bottle to get any suds. Got hard water though.

    • @ninjabob8170

      Chilli Sauce never had an issue round here, not sure on the water hardness though. 👍🏻

      @@chillisauce6079 I think you're potentially missing the point with auto wash.... As with all BH products, it's not about suds or glamorous packaging... Their products are results oriented and I've yet to find a shampoo that cleans as good and DOESN'T leave a greasy, waxy residue. That being said, I but 7.5ml in a 10 litre bucket and I get plenty of suds, maybe you need to put about .5l in the bottom of the bucket, add the auto wash, then blast your water in, or perhaps you just need more water pressure?

    • @chillisauce6079
      @chillisauce6079 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markkerr3761Not really, I know what BH are about and I use a lot of their products which I rate highly. However this doesn't work for me. I like some lubrication when I'm contact washing and this product doesn't offer that which I believe is partly down to my tap water being hard. As for cleaning power, there is little dirt on the car at the contact wash stage so this isn't an important factor for me.

    • @markkerr3761
      @markkerr3761 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chillisauce6079 I guess it must be the water then because I get plenty of suds and lubrication, even with 5-7.5ml per 10 litres of warm water. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree 👍🏼

    I like to spray a bit on the brush and brush it on as I find that if you squirt it on the wheel, half or more of it goes straight through and lands on the brake disc or the road behind. Saves a lot doing it this way.

    I suspect that a more cost effective way of cleaning dirty wheels could be a 1:10 dilution of APC (Surfex), followed by a light spray of Auto Wheels or possibly 1:1 dilution of Auto Wheels because you would require less of the expensive product after using a relatively small amount of APC.

    • @Matt-bt7ej
      @Matt-bt7ej 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats exactly what I do too. Surfex removes a serious amount of dirt and contaminant, then autowheel just removes the bonded contaminants.
      Just using autowheel on its own sometimes needs a second hit as its fully reacted with the stuff that isn't bonded with nothing left for the stuff that is.

    One benefit to Meguiar's Ultimate Wheel Cleaner is that it can be used on all wheel surfaces. Not sure about Bilt Hamber since it is not available in the states. It makes sense that Meguiar's strength is less given it is designed to be sold to the average joe. It would be interesting how Meguiar's Wheel & Paint Iron Decon D1801 would compare to Bilt Hamber.

      Mr Muscle products use the same triggers on their products, so I'm guessing they're not exclusive to BH. On the plus side it means you can use them to hold different concentrations of BH products and benefit from the trigger design.

    Meg's stuff is generally good, but I'm increasingly replacing my kit with Bilt Hamber. Use the Autowheels and Autofoam as part of my car washes. Also have BH clay bars, no need for expensive lube. Will be looking for other stuff of BH in the future - great stuff.

    Megs has 2 classes of products, a professional line and a consumer line. The consumer line (the "Ultimate" line) is meant to be idiot proof. They make a much stronger and thicker Meguiar's D1801 Wheel & Paint Iron DECON - Pro-Strength Iron Remover, for professionals and "Prosumers" That Megs Ultimate wheel cleaner bottle you have in the video is sold everywhere here in the US. You can walk into some supermarkets and home improvement type stores and find it. Typically it's around $9US

    Awesome tests, loved the bottle on the background saying "dirt simulator" :D Gave me a good old laugh. No surprises in the results, this might be a bit bold, but I feel using more budget and performance oriented products everyday, that "big companies are just a good label, a fancy bottle and some performance, oh yeah and an amazing marketing team! ( and I also try to save me mates always a couple of quids recommending good and working stuffs, sort of educating them into the right direction)

    I bought this product and it is brilliant. Best alloy wheel cleaner I’ve come across in 15 years of car cleaning toil! It lifted the brake dirt very quickly and required minimal effort. Quick going over with the detailing brush, wash off with the pressure washer and then a hot water and car shampoo wash with a mit to get any last traces of the chemical off. Finally, a last go with the pressure washer. Almost new finish on 6 year old alloys which have covered 100k plus miles. 👍

    Used bilt hamber today and couldn't believe how good it was. Caked on brake dust from race compound pads... Was thinking I'd have to get the wheels refurbed. BH removed it all despite having to give it a few goes and a bit of a scrub.

    Sounds like the best method is to begin with the degreacer to remove any barriers which could inhibit the full potential of the fallout removal..?

  • @AHumbleStreamer

    I very rarely use these sorts of products tbh. I use EZ Car Care Viper diluted down to 10:1. It's £28 for 5 litres so at that dilution ration I get 50 litres for £28! Because its so cheap I can really go mad with the application and it works an absolute treat on my Alfa's wheels, which are well maintained and cleaned weekly.
    I only use fallout removers when I'm dealing with really disgustingly dirty wheels with embedded iron contamination. Because I use them so rarely I just keep a few bottles of one I find on offer knocking around. Got 2 bottles of the TurtleWax one in their build-a-bucket deal!

    Was suprised you were comparing them as cleaners as they’re not they are fallout removers not cleaners , whee process is initial rinse, ( I still use a diluted tfr for this tbh shift dust and grease off the bat) these scrub with a wheel cleaner , rinse and then apply fall out let it dwell not dry, agitate with a detail brush and rinse 👍🏻 but should limit fall out remover to occasional cleans , was glad to see the BH product reviewed though , shows you don’t need a fancy designer label to be a good product, cheers John 👍🏻

    I don't know if you can get Elite car cleaning products in England or if they can ship it to you but there alloy wheel cleaner ( its alkaline not acid )is fantastic. They are a small family owned and run business and manufacturer their own products in Belfast, Northern Ireland supplying the trade and those in the know 😉. I've been using the stuff for over 30 years now and used neat or up to 5:1 and not just on wheels and tires but engine bays ect. You know its going to work well when you can see the dirt oozing out of your tyres, I've even used it on 40' curtain sided lorries and they don't half hold a lot of dirt.

    Auto Wheels is the best car product I have ever used, it the only wheel cleaner that get off all brake dust, and tar build up, it even get off that hard brake crust in the corner of the wheel that is almost impossible to remove, and the best thing about this product, once used, it keeps on going and stops brake dust from clinging to the wheel, so the next time you do a clean it super easy to remove.

    In fact at the moment, Meguiars is £11.60 (minus 10% Blue Light discount) and BH is £17.90 delivered.

    Having tried ",loads" of wheel cleaners over the years.. done good and done rubbish...
    I still come back to Auto Wheels...
    It is the best and if you buy in 5 litre drums it's even better value

    So I’ve been using the maguires stuff. Does a fantastic job of clearing the crap off your wheels. So what do I do to keep the brake discs clean? Start the car, floor it. Brake hard. Reverse, floor it brake hard. Discs are shiny every time. Yet I’ve just ordered a bottle of boot hamber 😂

    Love these comparison videos John
    Expected the result, bilt hamber is top drawer
    I tend to use sufex HD at 10%, then finish with a small amount of this, it lasts and there is not much grime left for it. A great finish on the wheels that way 💪

    At 1:10 dilution, Koch Chemie Greenstar works as good as Surfex as a wheel cleaner. I bought Greenstar as I was sold on its mild rust-inhibiting content for brakes, suspension, metal valve stems et al.

    For me bang for buck is Turtle Wax Redline. Can get it for around £10 per litre if you look about. Very good results., would be good to compare this to Bilt hamber. I'm reluctant to change from the Turtle wax because I honestly think it is that good

    I've noticed that Meguiar's Iron Decon gives much closer results to the Bilt Hamber. It lights up immediately, doesn't take much product, and really breaks down the dust. All Wheel is fine, but it's nowhere near as strong. But then again Iron Decon ain't exactly cheap either 😅 (can't get BH here in the US)

      Megs prices in the US are strong.. In the UK like others have said some stuff is alarmingly expensive. I think you can alienate markets very rapidly if your prices get too high. £16 pounds for 709ml of this product. This is a problem and its something I have to cover in reviews even if its a bit of a negative.

    Meguiar's is around $25.00 AU, but i have used Bowdens wheel cleaner, also Meguiar's retail products do no compare price wise at all compared to pro products ie: car pro iron x and others, but more importantly the spray bottle nozzle sprays in a foam like spray, yet others come out like a small mist like sprey, so i got a normally old adjustable spray nozzle bottle and got 3 times car wheels use out of it, compared to the two times or 8 wheels with the meguiers nozzle spray bottle?

    Awesome video, just wondering are you able to use BH Autowheels on body paintwork?

    Great as always Jon. Something worth mentioning, it's not really your opinions, it's your experience that you're sharing in this video. There's a difference between them and experience sits way higher on the believability scale and that's what I appreciate with the videos you do. Keep up the excellent work!

    Would Auto Wheels be good enough to use as a wheel cleaner as a stand alone? With agitation and pressure washer - or would I need a wheel shampoo too?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      autowheels is a very potented and very powerfull wheel cleaner.. yes use it on its own... the arguement is that autowheels is prolly too powerfull and too expensive to use every wash. USe surfex HD at 10:1 if you are washing and maintaining the wheels well. And then autowheels once every few months. Dont spray autowheels on calipers or disks (or just minimise spraying it on those areas)

      @@ForensicDetailing thanks for your reply! This makes complete sense, I was looking at Surfex HD as a wheel cleaner but I didnt know if it was powerful enough. Ill get the auto wheels and dilute it down i reckon to make it more cost effective.

    I bought & used Maguires and was impressed. When it ran out I decided to try BH instead as seen your reviews on their products.
    I think the BH is better. My reasons are it’s cheaper & I don’t think you need as much.

      the speed of the reaction of this product is unrivalled. but it also just seems to do a better job cleaning out and breaking down the dirt in the wheel. its an incredible product. The icing on the cake is its considerable cheaper as well. I have a lot of trust and respect for megs but its out gunned here.

    So in the US you can find Meg's all wheel cleaner for just $8.47 or 6.47 in pounds at the current exchange rate. Even with that lower price though I don't think it would have won. Too bad they don't sell BH products here in the US. 😭

      HS-tuning dot com has some products of BH in the US. Think it's another company that has started to take them in but don't remember where it was. It where a quite new detailing shop.

    First of all I'd like to thank you for charing your experience and knowledge.
    I would like to see a video where you show the impact of using different compunds with different pads and maybe even different machines. Not an overly extensive video but perhaps one cutting compund and one finishing compound and teaming them up with one microfibre pad, one wool pad, one hard foam pad and one finishing pad. If there is a difference, maybe a roatary and a da polisher.
    How much would a microfibre pad cut with a finishing compund or how much would a finishing pad cut with a cutting compund?
    For me it would be interesting to se how much the different components affects the result.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      less impact from the pad than you would think Codriver. But its very hard to demo this. you would just be looking at footage but not knowing the impact. think cutting pad foam.. your asking it to do more, theres more resistence when trying to cut with heavy abrasives because theres more friction, more debry being removed, so pad needs to be stiffer to cope and pores needs to be bigger to cope with more residue coming out. more heat build up, sometimes more pressure being applied. So stiffer coarser pad can be beneficial. its more about using the optimal vehicale for transport the abrasives.. the misconception is its the pad that has "cut" etc..

  • @p8rdm

    I would also wonder which one is safer, maybe showing quicker reaction more powerful etc, but what area the longer term effects n the wheels

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the strength of the reaction of the TGA has no bearing on the effect to harm the wheels. Due to the nature of the chemistry. The TGA only reacts on rust FE2o3 and it alters rust into a purple iron thyiogycolic (sp?_ oxide which is soluabe in water at the point of reaction. the TGA portion does not degrade clearcoat.

    • @ForensicDetailing

      yes just dont let it dry and keep it on the alloy, away from the brake disks and calipers (pads really)
