I used up a gallon of brake buster and it was nice, also used up griot, and used up simple green...now I'm using turtle wax hybrid and so far it smells the best and I'm a fan of it
Regardless of what the bottle says, I always agitate the cleaner to ensure what dirt is there is removed from the surface plus it helps move the product around to places that didn't get as much spray and it helps avoid product drying before rinsing....
This is a good comparison. One note. Sonax WCP is their strongest wheel cleaner per their SDS. Stronger than The Beast. But pretty expensive at $25. TW Iron Decon then sprayed with Wheel and Tire cleaner is a can't miss combo.
Autoglym Magma...still my go to, since 6 pot brembo challenger.. lol the worst is still the front discs... should have also done it with a garden hose cause some people don't have pressure washers
I think that Sonax destroy my two rims...after 2 mins i washed and after that i see bubbles on wheels in nut area!!! I do what instructions say on original car rims and two survive and two is ruined....any advice?
I’ve heard just a degreaser mixed with dawn dish soap will work just as good, followed by a protectant!!! Not sure if that’s true or not, but I would like your thoughts on that.
Gr8 vid. I've been using the TW with satisfying results. I am from the school of really clean rims/tires/exhaust tips & general trim are what make the rest of the car (paint) REALLY pop. To me it makes the difference between "meh" or "wow!" Shine on you crazy diamonds!
That's sounds expensive... If I was using something strong on something expensive I def would've tested it on the inside of the rim right behind the spokes
Great video comparison! I have long been a Sonax guy, but have been using P&S when the tires need some love. P&S definitely needs agitation to be truly effective. Great to see TW giving them a run for their money. Thanks for this!
@@danielbonner8309I am using P&S wheel cleaner. Lasts a long time & I use 10/1 I’d also recommend a ceramic sealant spray. After they’re clean. Thats what I ended up using in the end. Doesn’t seem to hurt the UV protection & no harsh PH
Hi, I've used them all, Sonax is the strongest, don't let it sit too long, or use on warm tyres or in direct sunlight, I made that mistake of not working fast enough n other rims on other side of car were exposed to sunlight n after all the purple grimes dried, n I rinsetoff, the Sonax eats into my E55 powder coated AMG rims. Cost me $$$ to get Benz to respray 2 rims!.& I had to wear a mask because it really stinks toxic! I find Turtle wax works best while being gentle, even in Sunlight. Meguiars all wheel gentle too n can used on paintwork to remove iron, tar. .. Important thing is to coat rims after dry so it has some protection from brake dust, tar, road grime, harder for these to bond to rims, n easier to clean off . I used Gyeon WetCoat, spray on n rinse!. Not endorsing any brand.just sharing honest experience. Thank you sir for demo n effort. Have fun, stay safe!
If you really need to clean the wheels that are very dirty, like after a track day, Sonax is unmatched. It's really strong at taking care of the metal dust buildup, but it also requires care while working with it, don't let it sit for too long, and don't let it get dry on you, if it does, it's a pain to remove.
I dont think that brown is dirt. Its part of the rubber. When hit a curb that scuff turns brown. Megs ulimate is great iron remover for decon washes. All of TW newer hybrid line look great.
This was my first time cleaning my wheels in at least 6 years!!! I bought Turtle Wax 53734 Hybrid Solutions 1st I tried just spaying it on and seeing if it would work. Lol. Nope !!!! Not even Next I sprayed and brushed clean the wheels. Yes this works on really heavy black break dust. But it took 4 times to get it almost perfect without removing the wheels to get around the lugs. But it’s definitely a good cleaner Without any hard scrubbing. Turtle Wax 53734 Hybrid Solutions Because without out using it nothing comes off as easily. But if your like me looking to clean wheels In really bad shape. Except to use a brush and spend time cleaning the wheels about 4 times to get it streak free. But no hard scrubbing.
Okay great video however, there's two issues I have with this. One you have 5 cleaners and 4 wheels 🤔 Second after 6 months the front wheels would have way more brake dust than the rear wheels... 🤷♀️🙋🤷🏼
My personal favorite is the videos of rims with literal dirt, no prewash, no scrubbing and make you think the product removed everything when literally 90% of what just came off was with the water.
Interesting . I use both Brake Buster and Hybrid Solutions . I use Brake Buster in a foam cannon and blast the wheels and tires. Then I spray Hybrid Solutions on top. Let dwell a few minutes
Pad compound has alot to do with buildup, the Brembo pads on my car shed dust like crazy specially so after i upgraded the brake hoses BUT i will take braking over dust any day.
I agree with you. I used the P&S in an Ik foamer with a 4:1 dilution. I also tried the TW. But the P&S is more economical. P21S is junk and expensive these days.
Avoid using a all in one wheel cleaner thou it may work it will over long term cause premature lose of natural oils and will dry the tire , leading to cracking of the tire which may lead tire failure
Right. I don't like using tire cleaners. That brown you see is not dirt it's the natural oils in the tire. I just like to scrub them with car shampoo and dress them.
@danielbonner8309 I like to use p&s tire prep I spray it on the tire then use my steamer around the tire then rinse it of with deionized water , but then I use my steamer with a dry steam setting to warm the rubber up to open the pours on the tire ,then use my hlvp gun and spray the tire with Dr Beasleys tire conditioner. But I am glad you see the issues when using the wrong products on a car just to save a few cents . When I took the detailing certification program the instructor said that just because it's cheap and works fast , in the long run you are destroying a clients car . Even the coarse I took at Rupes training center said the same thing
Not all cleaners are created equal? Depending on driving conditions, about 1, 2, 3, or 4 times a year, you should clean wheels with an iron remover. Brake Buster can be diluted, and is the most reasonable priced. All of these cleaners will perform well on most wheels, but as you said, not all will clean tires. Brake Buster is a good maintenance cleaner, but does not contain iron remover. It will clean both, as stated. I would buy Brake Buster and a wheel & paint safe iron remover, so it can be a dual purpose iron remover. Always read label instructions, because your wheels may NOT be safe with an iron remover? Thanks!
Well this is not a true test because you're not using like a truck rim that's been on and off dirt for a while but and also you spend a but you are so that's kind of annoying
Im sorry but dual purpose products are always worst than 1 that is formulated for that type of job. Professionals detailers never chose dual or all in 1 products

Wonder what one's are safe for anodized wheels I have red anodized in the center of my wheels
Only thing I will say. If you're using it on your tyres you might need to replased the UV protective layer as the cleaner might strip or damage it.
Thats happen when you use degreaser
Exactly. That brown is not dirt, it's oil in the tires that you are stripping.

Yes you can use just normal spray wax or a silica sealant like carpro reload there are many to chose from...

Needs to be tested on a much dirtier wheel

Great minds think alike, never though it would foam up in a soap cannon
The best way to properly clean a wheel is to take the wheel off the car and clean it inside out!
ain’t nobody got time for that. periodic cleaning will remove most of break dust buildup.
Nice review, Jeff. I use the P&S Brake buster. It works really well. Agitation is the key. Elbows and assholes, right?
es, love the P&S. I buy it by the gallon and refill my sprayers
@@carbuying What’s your dilution ratio? and what bottle size?
good video, but what about value for money as most of them are a waste as you can use 1\2 a bottle on 4 wheels

Those two aren’t pH balanced… Brake Buster is pH 10 and Hyperfoam is 13. They are very caustic.
Save your money, Simple Green spray works great.
It does not dissolve iron brake dust
It sure doesn’t
The red turtle wax doesn't work well on black rims..it removes the shine and leave scratch marks..plus it stinks really bad
what do you think of the Turtle wax Wheel Cleaner with Iron Remover as a wheel and tire cleaner?
We have done it this way for maximum coverage. Even tried Turtle Wax and Meguiars with the iron dust dissolving formula
