Happy to add comment on the rear spoiler. It's the same that was found on the S204 except unpainted. You could buy it from Subaru but you could not buy the S204 painted one (unless you could prove you owned an S204. The spoiler came with a replacement rear parcel shelf and extended wire harness for the 3rd brake light. I purchased several years ago for my old GDB STI from Subaru Japan.
All the small run STi's are gaining value rapidly, RA, RA R, the S and R versions, spec c etc. a fine time to have one sitting in the garage appreciating
Hell even the RA and S209 here in the states went up in value already. My Type RA has 25k on the clock and i can nearly sell it for what I bought it for new.

Thank you for reviewing this car! I have 06 standard STI (USDM) Hawkeye... so personally this is the other holy grail STI for me. (22B being the other of course). I like the yellow but the white with these white wheels are super clean.
This has always been the STi of choice imo and the one I wish I had bought when I could. Machida Subaru had a yellow one with white wheels when first released. It was love at first sight and the sales team almost persuaded me... held on to my STi RA instead.

The one that got away for me. Both myself and best friend have owned the 2005 Ra spec c’ s and myself a 2006 spec c amongst other impreza’s inc many spec c s. Fact is these Hawkeye variants are the very best of the Impreza era as a drivers car. A spec c in standard form which unless you fit ohlins leave them alone can literally be corrected from a 90 deg slide back straight with absolute finesse razor sharp handling an absolute drivers car forget your GR Yaris people these are another level .. oh and the S202 is an absolute weapon in oem form also a sure fire classic deserves a feature as it’s in fact not even called an Impreza due to the gentleman’s agreement in Japan also best left oem subaru knew what they were doing.
I agree with you mate, this one takes the cake. And i love the color, i own a 2019 STi with the type RA block, i love it, mine is in the same color, white looks so good on a subi, especially that one. But i agree this one is my favorite of the classics, gorgeous gorgeous car, great video thank you for preserving these for future generations.

That's a great looking and performing car, no doubt about it. However, for me the 22B will always be Subaru's unicorn, the 22B resembles everything that Subaru was, is and will be for years to come. They really should bring that chassis back.
Yeah as a performance point of view.. its like saying the gr supra is better than the ma70, comparing to two with the what that manufacturer had the best to offer at those times
the RA R lacks the character of a 22b. with the 22B they completely redesigned the body unlike the RA-R, where all the did was add onto the original STI body. You can easily dial in performance after buying the car, but you can't as easily dial in charisma. And that's why the 22B will always be a cut above in price. Performance doesn't mean as much as you think and rarely ever coincides with price, i know guys with seriously fast hawkeye/blobeye wrx's (not even STIs) that would wipe the floor with that RA-R

Awesome car. I guess the biggest issue is if you ever need to replace any of the bespoke parts. I've just waited nearly 3 months for widetrack STi springs and struts as they had to come from Japan as there was nothing in the UK and thats a car that was made in far greater numbers than this.
The history of the 2006-2007 is also very interesting, the last homoligated road cars. Colin Mcrea died in a helicopter accident in 2007 and after that they were kicked out of the WRC for poor performance with the 08 models, so Fuji Heavy Industries switched from having them be homiligated race cars to selling by creature comforts, competing with cars like the Mazda 3. It’s the last of its kind. And the best looking, in my opinion.
Your a knob Subaru wasn’t kicked from the FAI WRC for poor performance cars, because of the economy Subaru decided to scrap the WRC along with it’s parent company FHI at the end of 08. Suzuki had canceled also along with Honda who scraped its Formula One program the same year.
If you are looking for an investment, this is great, potentially. If you want to enjoy your car, get a hawkeye and find your nearest scuby specialist The aftermarket for these cars is so developed its hard to go wrong providing you choose the right garage. They know all the good engine mods and suspension setups etc But if you want something with badge value, then sure this is probably your thing.
I owned a 2003 wrx spec R1 wagon. 1 of 35 in the world ( 90 sedans/35 wagons were built) Nobody ever talks about them even though they are some of the rarest subarus in the world…

I would say 400+ but 2.0 hard to make that power. I bet it's a blast to drive anyways at 318 or whatever it is. Just would be super around 350hp!
Probably don't want to mod one of these models though! Im sure the value would go down, although you could make it more fun. Save the mods for a non rare model
They have more as standard. I mapped my s204 for uk v power fuel and the road dyno calculations were 335hp and 355 Lb ft. The thing is an animal. Totally ballistic but so controlled in bends and braking. AmaZing cars.

Torque is nearly always higher the power out put unless its a super high reving motor and Subaru's are spectacular at producing Torque I don't know why as they are a super small motor but in some case I seen with my own eyes mild work on block mild head set up and precision 60-62 550hp at the wheels and 1180nm of torque 🤯 mind blowing
Everything almost correct. :D 3:58 - it is not manual ic spray button, it is auto/manual dccd button. 5:16 - there is no such model s402, there is s204. And ra-r is not b road car, spec-c is not either. With oem springs - only smooth roads. I have one, believe me - b road is pain in the ass. :D

Neither was the 22B. Despite popular belief the 22B was not a homologation special. It was a celebration special made in tribute to their WRC constructors championship. Just like how the North American Type RA was produced to celebrate Subaru taking the NBR sedan lap record.
No, it won't be the "next big thing", because there's nothing special about it. As a longtime Subaru owner and fan, I have to say that NONE of Subaru's top-level models are really that impressive at all. The only reason the 22B is so beloved is because British motoring journalists created hype about it (the same thing you're doing in this video where you get a complete hard-on about 316hp). Nearly all of Subaru's special models are really just "parts catalog queens". Subaru usually makes them to show off their STi parts catalog. Even the 22B for the most part. The 22B was just an overweight WRX STi Type R Version 4, but with 0.2L more displacement. It amounted having a very small amount of additional torque, but it was actually slower than the standard WRX STi Type R model, because it was 177lb heavier. All of the parts on it were just from the Subaru parts bin. This spec C Type RA-R is just Subaru installing all of their parts from the catalog on a car, and making it seem special by telling you that there was only 300 made.

Roof scoops on rally cars are not for cooling you off.. yes it may.. But it’s primary purpose is to pressurize the cabin to keep dust from entering.

I have a Hawkeye and it has ej25 not 20. Also it has a tune at 237 whp and 307 wht so it's normal for a tuned impreza to have more torque .

Calling an STI a WRX is like calling an RS a WRX, or calling a GX an RS.
