I just love how you make everything appear to be straight forward, if only, I've been restoring my R32 GTR, (which coincidentally was originally imported by yourselves) for longer than I'd like to admit. This has to be one of the best little series on TH-cam, keep em coming, I look forward to the updates.
AWESOME progress guys!!! This Impreza GC restoration is turning into one of the BEST video documentaries ever produced for these vehicles - CHEERS AND THANK YOU!!! 👍
The dry I method works better a bit easier when you put it in a big rubbish bag, then you can concentrate the cold in a specific area which makes it a bit easier to work, then and move the bag from spot to spot as you work. This way you don't waste as much of the ice-cold temperature as it's more focused and works a little faster at lifting the sound deading. I double bag the dry ice when I did it in my car.
Japanese cars get under your skin and you can't explain why. I think it is as they are like a good cake the ingredients is just spot on. Loving every minute of the P1 build😎
I was lucky/ unlucky enough to own one… (X508 MSL) I think number 357 if I remember?? My first taste of a really fast motor.. unfortunately got stolen twice!! Also had two engine rebuilds.. absolutely loved it though.
I did this last year with my Impreza. Wound up just using a hammer and chizzle no heat or dry ice and it worked OK. Dry ice gets off a bit more of the glue but I didn't want to spend the money at the time.
There is even a professional blasting tape which can also stand the heat in case off powdercoating, the gorrilatape will leave some adhesive residue after blasting it
HELLO from 4,000+ miles away here in Alaska, 🇺🇸.. seriously an epic build series and fantastic channel!! Keep up the solid work, and thanks for the pure gold JDM content. Cheers 🍻
So it will be on the road by Christmas then. Great work and brilliant attention to detail. Please keep the videos coming as I am thoroughly enjoying these little updates on the progress.
A Great build process on a great car! I had a UK 2000 Impreza turbo wagon on a V plate (December 1999). I had the car when it was 6 years old, it was a great car. Standard Uk spec was 215hp at the time but it was mechanically very similar to the P1 in reality. The standard brakes were not really a match for the performance of the car, the front caliper pistons would pit and a small amount of corrosion would see the calipers stick which would in turn overheat and warp the front discs, a calliper rebuild was then the order of the day. I tried different makes of rotors and pads but they didn't really improve the braking over the standard Subaru discs and pads, the Subaru OEM pads are a good general pad in reality. Hopefully you will have better results with the Alcon's. I would get a high quality set of tyres on it, I'm not sure if Michelin do the pilot sport 4s in your size, but something like this will be a big step on in rubber from what was available 20 years ago. The standard UK Impreza 2000 from that era had 16 inch alloys with 205/50 x 16 Bridgestone Potenza RE0 10 tyres fitted as standard. I had the gearbox rebuilt as it started playing up, but at that stage the car was about 12 years old with well over 100,000 miles on it, I treated the car with respect and would never dump the clutch on it from a standing start. The clutch lasted over 100,000 miles on mine too before it needed replacing. The gearboxes can be problematic though so I would definitively get yours fully overhauled as I believe you intend to do. what sort of mileage was on your car when purchased as I believe you haven't said this in your videos. Headlights were poor also which resulted in a lot of people putting higher wattage halogen bulbs in, these would greatly improve the light output but would eventually result in the back of the bulb holders melting. I used to buy these bulb holders from Subaru breakers at about £1 each back in the day! The front drop links on the suspension were prone to wear out quickly too. I Obviously run the car on high quality super unleaded petrol. My car was religiously serviced and it was very reliable , quite a machine in its day! It was nice to get in a car like this and just drive it hard without having to faff around with touch screens and driver modes etc like you do on modern performance cars in our days.... ( the current golf R springs to mind! ) I also always let the car idle for a while after a hard drive as turning the ignition off immediately could eventually result in turbo wear due to the turbo bearings not getting cooled properly with no oil circulating. Good luck with the build, I am very much enjoying it!
I cant believe you had so much trouble getting nuts and bolts out but yet the shell is so good! My uk2000 was easy to get all the nuts and bolts out not 1 snapped or broke but the shell was in far worse condition than yours. Loving this series though. FYI For all your spares import car parts are a god send.
Brilliant build, always look forward to the episodes. Love the attention to detail. Still regret selling my TME especially after I see yours in the garage 😍
Guess it was a day early when i saw it pop up yesterday? Or maybe you guys made it private a day it so it could actually process all those beautiful high quality options. Either way, loving this series.
‘’Challenge Anika” 😂🤣….Showing your age there bud and she has a much nicer jump suit wearing ability (politically correct way of saying she has a nice bum). Best thing on TH-cam for years, great presenting, great explanations and great cars what more could you want on the internet?
I just see the GBP signs flying everywhere and the KA CHING sound with that...well my impreze will get this treatment too eventualy, luckily it's a little bit younger
Great video dry ice is awesome but not cheap and where did you get yours in the UK? Good for company's as it saves time on jobs. Think you should as harrison to test drive, when it is finished. 👍
1:18. Love a bit of GT85 24 hours of odor protection for the engineer/mechanic. Like Lnyx spray to a chav!. 1:28 10mm scoket 🤣Gets a hammer. But who still has a 10mm anyway? 😆. 10:38 Scoobys all day long but would take evo as last resort 🙄 Can we have a full workshop/building tour at some point? Well you pretty much have to the untrained eye 😁 You made the place look good guys looks so dirrent to me! spent a long time in those buildings!. When you getting into CNC? Let me know I could potentially help with my services. 🧐🤔🤔👍👍 PS if this commnt gets more than 555 likes can I have a drive when its finished?
Wondering why you didn't look at the pads originally specced for the large alcon discs by Prodrive, the Ferodo DS Performance pads? Not knocking the idea of a change just curious.
So I know the old adage of time = money but how much did the dry ice cost? Just cos for a DIYer it may still not be a cost they could afford especially as countries like Australia such a product is WAY more expensive than in the UK or USA. I love the idea and I know it works well yet the costing has piqued my interest 😉
From a time money point of view, the cost to the customer would be the same. The dry ice might cost a bit but it saved about 2hrs of work. From a user point of view, far nicer than any other method!
Protect the bare metal as soon as possible especially in this damp climate . We know where the corroded parts are and it won't taken much to blow in fresh epoxy over the repairs.
Can someone explain why vehicles has holes in the chassis rail and other parts .....my thinking if water gets in there and settle that's a nightmare for future rust
This has probably been mentioned already but I'm not going through all the comments just to see, but dude, seriously? It's DUCT TAPE not DUCK TAPE, originally designed for sealing ventilation ducts. Other than that, interesting vid, cheers.
@@danbarruffo7743 Lol, yeah well it's still duct tape even if there's a brand called Duck much like a "Hoover" is still a vacuum cleaner. But anyway... and if Google's my friend how come he never wants to hang out with me?
That showroom is the end all be all dream JDM group of cars. 22B and 400R are just amazing.
Nice work!. You have a very engaging way to explain things.
Doesn't really get better than this for us Impreza fans. Thoroughly enjoying the series and can't wait to see where it goes!
Very big fan of this project and yourself as a presenter.

Got some nice rides there mate. Keen to see the P1 smicko

Absolutely amazing at the detail you are showing. Can’t wait for the work on the engine too.
Please show the 400R next!!
Great project guys and appreciate the detailed videos 👍
The dry ice is like popping packing bubble wrap levels of enjoyment

Awesome series! As much as I want to see the finished car. I don't want the series to end please keep making these style videos
Thanks Joseph and don’t worry we’ve got more projects in the pipeline 😉
Awesoe, I still have my 20 year old Impreza bought new in 2000. Amazing to see this video series. Mine is still in perfect condition btw...
why don't you upload some new content?
Could watch this channel for hours !! How have you only got 40k subscribers??? Keep up the good work

I've shown this channel to everyone. Way under appreciated compared to what's out there!
Thank you 🙏
Iam clearly not the only one to spot the 400 rr as you walked past,I’ve got one in the same colours.Loving the videos 👍🏻
Next time you do the dry ice trick, try a rubber mallet instead of a scraper! It just crumbles off the chassis without even touching the steel.
I'm sure have found out by now, but whiteline here in the states makes all the replacement bushing for it.
Next in the showroom has to be the 400r stop teasing us 😆
Looking forward to seeing it back on the road!
