At least in Wind Waker (HD), Ganondorf has some grasp of what is happening in Hyrule. When he says "Let us end which binds us" he clearly wishes to end whatever is keeping the three together. He might not recognize it as a literal curse. But he has some awareness to machinations going on in the background.
He had hundreds of years to ponder this, with the Triforce Of Power in his possession. He's also much older and much more melancholic than his Child Timeline/Era counterpart (who is still young and arrogant).

In the "Minish Cap" we learn that the minish are these tiny little creatures that are invisible to adults and only kind good children can see them. We also learn that they are the ones who like to hide treasures all over the place, like rupees and other magical stuff. This makes them one the most present race in the series, probably only after the hylian.
My theory is simple, something happened to the minish in the BOTW, since you can hardly find items hidden in the grass, under rocks or jars, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MINISH? IS THAT WHY THEY WERE CUT FROM THE GAME?

As to why they were cut from the game, the developers have stated that they felt the Minish would get lost in such a big, expansive world. Fortunately Nintendo has a good habit of reusing scrapped ideas, especially when it comes to Zelda games, so there's at least a chance we'll see them in the sequel. That's how we're getting the sequel after all, they had so many ideas that we're getting a new game (which I prefer) instead of just more DLC.

For the shield theory, I like to think of it like this:
In Skyward Sword, this would be its creation era. Literally no other shield like this was created before as it was bestowed by a literal god. This was truly one of a kind. And with it, he killed Demise. Nothing we don’t already know about.
Fast forward to Ocarina of Time, since it’s been thousands of years since the events of SS, the royal family deemed it fitting to use this type of shield as maybe like a tradition, so they’ve adopted it into their ranks. If the hero was able to best Demise wielding it, it’s safe to say it’s going to be pretty recognizable to most even as a legend. Hence why the description in the shop says it’s commonly used by the knights of Hyrule. Of course it’s not magic or anything since it’s been mass produced for the military, but it’s most certainly a highly regarded design by now. And apparently it shows in this game specifically. It’s a staple shield. We don’t see a whole lot of lore in between OoT and SS, maybe they’ve been using this design for millennia and we’re just seeing one of the many times that this shield is a favorite among the Hylian military. We’d have no idea.
Now onto Twilight Princess is where it gets kind of unclear to tell. Based on the fact the Hylian knights don’t use it in their ranks anymore leads me to believe it could be the starting point of where they have started to faze it out in favor of better weapon tech. This could also explain why you can still find it in shops at this point. It’s in surplus. It’s old weaponry. Nearly a century at that. Cheap surplus of century old weaponry is found in our world as well, like world war one and two for example. The Hylian army may have started to faze it out of their ranks, but it could still be a favorite for regular citizens or collectors.
Now tens of thousands of years forward into Breath of the Wild is extremely difficult to explain based on my own theory I’ve built. However since we see other shields, such as the knights and royal guard shields, I believe they want to once again keep with tradition for a more specific reason. I want to refer to the stone that you find inside the chamber first. This is a trial for the knights of Hyrule. The royal guard even. One of the highest ranks of the Hylian military. I believe this is a rite of passage. Do this and you receive the same design and type of shield that the legendary heroes of Hyrule have used for millennia. This is the hero’s shield of choice. This is THE shield you want while you’re proudly defending the honor of the kingdom of Hyrule and the goddess Hylia, just like the many heroes of myth. Or maybe it’s for something more light, like a ceremonial shield, used by the royal guard in parades to boost the moral of the people of Hyrule. It may not be in surplus anymore, but it is still obviously a highly regarded design, even possibly sacred by the royal family due to its part being played in the very creation of their kingdom like the master sword and they wish to keep that well known.

I know thats not reflected on gameplay mechanics, but for me makes sense on a Lore level. *The Master Sword cannot handle pure Malice, hence it’s current appearance in the trailer.*
We know that all (if not most) monsters in the Zelda franchise are made of Ganon’s malice, and that the Master Sword can cut through them like a hot blade through butter at full power. However in the cutscenes of *Breath of the Wild* we get to see the Master Sword in rough shape after Link and Zelda escape a massive hoard of Guardians. Not only that, but in the final battle with Dark Beast Ganon, only the Light Arrows, Ancient Arrows, and if you’re lucky and conserve all of your hearts, the Master Sword’s beams. Since DBG is made of pure malice, it would make sense that the Master Sword itself wouldn’t be able to scratch the beast physically.

  • @elesfinter9753
    @elesfinter9753 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Fi is in Ocarina of Time:
I had this theory for awhile and just wanted some exposure. In BOTW Fi communicates with Link through a blue beam of light emerging from the Master Sword, the player can't hear what Fi says but is implied.
Now, in OoT at the end of the game while fighting Ganon, we recover the Master Sword and for some reason it shines like exactly the same as it does in BOTW, my theory is that is Fi telling Link to go for the finishing blow, since Link is also watching the blade with a curious face. It's important to say that in no other scenario the blade emits the same blue light in OoT, it's a little detail that no one really thinks about it, like just flights over our heads.
And yes, I'm aware the development team had no plans for Fi at the time, but it could be the case of Zelda II and the goddess statue, where at the time it was just a religious statue and nothing more, but the dev team used that sprite to develop what we know as the statue of the goddess hylia in Skyward Sword and BotW 20 years later.

  • @neru8104
    @neru8104 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

My theory on the Hylian shield:
Personally, 2 things. One: it COULD be the original shield from SS, because the description says its "past down the Hyrulean Royal Family." That and it's defensive capabilities and durability is the best in the game, as well as the design being identical to the design in SS.
Two, which could be more probable imo: the Hylian shield in botw is a sheikah recreation, or near perfect replica of the original Hylian shield. We know that the sheikah have been known to toy with recreating things such as the master sword, that being the royal guards sword, so it's not too far off that they could have pretty much succeeded with creating a near-perfect Hylian shield replica, and designing it to look identical to the original.
ALSO THEORY NUMBER 2 that I just came up with while writing this:
WHAT IF the master sword we're using in botw and botw2 is *also* a near perfect sheikah replica. I say this because the master sword can, A. Run out of energy, and B. Be easily damaged by malice, something you'd think a legendary, evil destroying weapon would have no problem with. Evidence? Well in the small teaser from the botw2 delay announcement, the master sword being basically melted by malice let's us have a good look into the innards of the sword and how it was probably created. Now, I dont think normal swords look like that on the inside. Because the master sword in the teaser looks very very similar to other sheikah architecture, what with the swirls, dark and tan metals, and shiny, metallic parts that are similar to the legs of guardians.
So maybe the hylian shield and master sword we've been using are mere man-made, near perfect replicas of the originals, which have possibly been lost to time as we know botw takes place insanely long after the last games in the time lines.
Just a theory but a really cool one imo.

    • @JinglePeeny
      @JinglePeeny 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Cool hypothesis but it wouldn't work.
Fi, the spirit of the master sword has been confirmed in the first botw game by the flashing blue light coming from the blade. It is also present in the new teaser so.
This means this is in fact the original master sword crafted by the hero of the sky.

And in Japanese, the "Voe Hunt" is more explicitly defined as how the Gerudo continue their lineage. My theory is that the gerudo do what the ancient greek amazonias did in myths, they took a husband and procreate and if the child was female they took it with them and if it was male it went with the father. Maybe gerudo did something similar, something like if the child was female and looked like a gerudo it was taken to the desert and if not it stayed with the husband and because even thou Malon had red hair she had the pointy ears and skin tone of an hylian it stayed with her father.

As to whether or not Link and Zelda knows about the curse, I would say it is similar to how Link retains all the experiences but not the memories. They are most likely subconsciously aware of it considering it is their souls being forced to reincarnate constantly.

  • @hogonalog406
    @hogonalog406 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I think that Demise, instead of creating a reoccurring evil figure that gets reincarnated periodically, cursed the Triforce of Power itself. Ganondorf was supposed to act as a great leader, overcoming the trials of his thief heritage (I don't know enough about Gerudo culture so let's not dwell on that) to be a uniting force in Hyrule. However, because it is that birthright itself that is actually cursed, no matter what Ganon wants for himself, that agenda is slowly replaced by the will of Demise until he no longer remembers who he was or wanted. In the case of Wind Waker, Demise's will was able to justify Ganons desires which made his corruption easier. The Goddesses wanted a system of brotherhood and sisterhood between the Triforce champions, each growing and learning from each other based on their different strengths, but instead the curse pits them against each other, brothers fighting brothers etc. This is kind of hinted at with the conflict between Sharp and Flat that travels into the afterlife. Every new generation the curse robs Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf of a close bond of friendship and as a result halts all chances of real growth in Hyrule since its ensured that the nation stays in constant, periodical, continent altering conflict.

An interesting interpretation of the Ganon-Demise problem can be found in the "A Hero's Purpose" (which of course I highly recommend, it is really good and emotional). There, it is theorised that Ganondorf know's about the curse, but accepts it as his destiny, and also a way to avenge his people, the Gerudo, for being mistreated for so long

Theory: The third timeline split (the fallen timeline) is not due to Link losing to Ganondorf in the end of the game. Rather, it is due to Link getting the Master Sword after gathering the three spiritual stones and not being powerful enough to take on Ganondorf. Ganondorf kills him in the Temple of Time. Rauru or the goddesses then rewind time to make the Master Sword seal him inside for 7 years as is told in the game. This would make all three splits consistent (time travel shenanigans).

What's interesting is that you can alter zelda's memory as its based on the last shield you had equipped as a child, not when the cutscene actually happened.
But on a different note I've wondered in recent years what was happening to link's kid body while youre running around as adult link. Was he in a kind time induced stasis until you come back? It is interesting that, despite not being a mechanic in oot, link is not capable of getting 13 hearts before pulling the master sword. You can get fairly close, 11, 11 1/2 hearts, but his soul getting sealed was the result of that and the fact his inner triforce was not balanced; he has plenty of courage, but he lacks power (hearts and stamina--I mean magic) and has even less wisdom (life and battle experience) when he pulled the blade from the pedestal of time. By the end of the five temples his inner triforce became balanced; his wisdom and power had finally caught up to match his courage. The spirit temple represents that balance and enlightenment he achieves for better or worse.

I've had a theory burning about the Hylian Shield for a very long time now.
The first one, Skyward Sword's Hylian Shield, is imbued by the Goddess Hylia, as the only way it could have got it's name was from Hylia herself as "Hyrule" and "Hylian" were not used at that time. Take note that In Skyward Sword, Link is right-handed, and therefore the shield was designed to be held in the left hand, as the metal handle part is clearly shown. This is the original Hylian Shield. The invincible shield that can never break.
In Ocarina of Time, the design is slightly different. Having two leather(?) straps to allow it to be held in either hand. This one can easily be chalked up as a replica, thus explaining the huge supply of them.
In Twilight Princess, the Hylian Shield is sold in a shop, but there's only one in the entire game, and it can not be destroyed. It also has the same handle design as in Skyward Sword. Now this is where the theory comes in, as this theory implies that the Wii version of TP, and a right-handed Link in TP is "canon." Which is difficult to prove otherwise as the TPHD uses the Game Cube's map, and the obvious on how Hyrule is flipped in the middle of the timeline.
The Hylian Shield in A Link Between Worlds being a one-of-a-kind can be explained that it is found in Lorule. While not having the Lorule Triforce, it is a strange outlier. However, as many great theorists, let's ignore the holes in the theory.
Finally, the Hylian Shield is in Breath of the Wild. It is a one-of-a-kind shield designed for a right-handed swordsman. Found only once, but is not invincible as it once was. However, that can be explained by Hylia, reincarnated as Zelda, being too occupied by holding back Calamity Ganon during the events of BotW to keep the Hylian Shield at its full power. The reason it can be bought in Tarrey Town is simple. You can't buy one if you already have one in your inventory or in your house. Even if you drop the shield, you can't buy a 2nd one until the first one is completely gone. My theory on that is the guy who sells the Hylian Shield isn't selling a brand new one, but just repairing the one Link had already found in Hyrule Castle.
Thank you for reading, and feel free to poke holes.

First theory: finding a loftwing underground: Although it used to be a troupe years back, I guess it is possible Zelda's Loftwing could have been early preagnant when that tornado got them in Skyward Sword. Did we ever find out what happened to it? It could have somehow found somewhere to nest and have since her, and her children have been surviving underground somehow through the centuries until modern day Zelda finds like a city of Loftwings, be it in their original form or having been modified through the centuries.

I have a theory: Ganondorf and the Malice Curse are two separate beings, and the malice somehow found/chose Ganondorf as a host to embody.
In the very beginning of Breath of the Wild, King Rhoam states that Ganondorf was born in the kingdom, but was somehow transformed by the malice. This means that the malice itself is its own living thing; more evidence as to why Denise's curse references malice, not Ganondorf.
Which makes me think: has Ganondorf ever had DIRECT CONTROL over malice in any other Zelda game besides this one? None come to mind. He is always an evil king who just so happens to have the support of monsters made by malice, but he does not control them. Like in Ocarina of Time, he only became powerful because of the triforce of power, not the malice. Or in Twilight princess, it was Zant using his magic to control all the twilight monsters and all the other dungeon bosses.
Ganondorf has never had any influence over malice, until Breath of the Wild. This has to be significant in some way, right?

I can only guess, but I think it could mean that he's aware of a bloodline, a curse, or the never-ending cycle, in which he is the evil being born alongside Link and Zelda. He also talks about how you aren't supposed to think it is the end already. Also, I wouldn't know who would have told him about it, because there just isn't someone who would have the knowledge and even if, why would they tell Ganondorf? The only person on Ganondorf's side I can think of would be Zant, and he isn't even from the same world as Ganondorf.

Something I'd love to see in the next game, and somewhat expect to, is to see more ancient connections to the races in Hyrule as they are represented now.
I.E.: Seeing the past forms of the Rito or the Zora represented in historical carvings or records as we delve into the depths of Hyrule and into the sky.
It would also blow my mind to find out a legitimate connection between the Loftwings and the Rito, though I doubt we will find this connection.
Another thing I expect to see or hear about is Fi. Disjointed words as an attempt to communicate, with whatever spirit resides in that arm trying to help us piece her back together as we repair the Master Sword.
Lastly I'd love to believe that the arm is the 'hero's spirit'. Not just one of them, all of them. I'd love to have to delve into the memories and experiences of past heroes through some sort of magical gateways to learn new things or somehow gather useful materials needed to repair the Master Sword or just help on the journey in general.

The design and color are similar especially around the mask's eyes. This leads me to wonder if while each game takes place in different oceans, is there a connection between these two monsters from their armored masks.

I love theories, and I will never stop telling mine until it is in a video !
So, here's my theory in short: There is a split of timelines in Skyward Sword, but the developers/scenarists/whoever made the decision about that, didn't know how time travel works, and there are loads of inconsistencies about time travel in this game.
The theory in not short: (and sorry it might take a while, and sorry if I make mistakes, English is not my native language)
I have a very strict way of thinking how time travel works in fiction (and considering it doesn't exist aside from fiction, how time travel works at all) : what already happened can't be undone, even by time travel. That's why there are two ways of time travel to act on time :
    - in the case of a closed time loop, traveling in the past doesn't change the timeline, the time travel already happened before the time traveler traveled in time ; the time travel is part of the timeline.
    - in the case of a time split, traveling in the past does actually change the timeline, but considering what already happened can't not have happened, the timeline from where the time traveler comes from stays unchanged, and a new timeline derivates from the original one, with a different course of event caused by the intervention of the time traveler.
This was probably clear for most people, but it was important to state before talking about the main subject.
Speaking of which : In the end of Skyward Sword, after Link fought the Imprisoned for the last time and used the Triforce to destroy it, Ghirahim kidnaps Zelda, and travels back in time to free Demise at a time where the Imprisoned hasn't been destroyed yet. Then Link follows him in the past to fight and kill Demise, before returning to his own time with Zelda.
And here's the problem : in the future of that past, the Imprisoned doesn't exist anymore, because Demise was killed and NOT SEALED BACK INTO THE IMPRISONED as some people think.
Because the Imprisoned is the restrained form of Demise caused by the seal of the Goddess Hylia; that's why Ghirahim needs Zelda, housing the Goddess's essence, to free him. In the original timeline, Demise was sealed until Link fought him several times before using the Triforce to destroy him. Considering what happened in the past in the final act of the game, they created a new course of event where Demise was sealed into the Imprisoned for way less time, freed by Ghirahim from the future and killed by Link from the future. In the future of this course of event, the Imprisoned doesn't exist anymore, so it can't be the past of Link's present, where the Imprisoned did in fact exist. So, at this point, a new timeline has been created, with a different succession of events, because the past was changed, but the original timeline still exists, unchanged, and continues to exist on its own.
However, when Link and Zelda (and Goose) go back to the present, they find Impa and the Master Sword they just left in the past, like they've been waiting the whole time for them, which should be in a closed time loop case. That could mean they went back in the present, but of a timeline that isn't theirs. And I can't tell you how messed up this is.
And there are a bunch of hints that lead either to one or another model of time travel, because I really think the developers didn't know how time travel works, or at least not as strictly as I conceptualize it. I didn't talk about Zelda in her cristal yet, I thought I could put it aside from the timesplit paradoxe because the loop was closed before Ghirahim created the new timeline, but Impa stayed in the past so the Gate of Time was never closed, so Ghirahim traveled in a past where Zelda was in her cristal, so what happens to her if there's a time split ? And if the ending really is the end of a timeloop, how comes that Impa is here all along but not the Master Sword ? And this is not the only time the Gate of Time is used in the game, when Link plants the Tree of Life is messed up too, because when he leaves, the Tree doesn't exist in his present, but once he planted it in the past and comes back, the Tree always existed here, so why did he have to plant it in the first place ?
Now, I have a sort of solution to all the paradoxes and inconsistencies (except for the Tree of Life, this is hopeless), but it's more of a fanfiction that a proper theory. We know Goddess Hylia had a sort of foresight or future visions, and she created the Gate of Time, and I humbly assume she knows how time travel works. She may have known the Gate would be used in the future, and the possibility of either a timesplit or a timeloop. She could have given instruction to her servants who would be here at that time, namely Impa and Fi (we call her Fay in French, in Japanese she's called Fai), to do so the paradoxes of time travel would go unnoticed by the mortals. That may be why Fai insisted to stay in the past after killing Demise and absorbing the remainings of his spirit ; to go back to her original timeline would mean there would be two of Demise in the same timeline, so Impa could have sent the Master Sword of the other timeline to the original one so there is one Master Sword and one Demise in each timeline. That may be why we can't see the Master Sword in the Temple during the game as we can see Zelda's cristal and old Impa. Same goes for Ghirahim, I don't really know what happens to him when Demise is defeated, but at this point there is two of him in the timeline, so Impa and Fai would have to send one in the other.
And about Impa, actually I'm not sure, because she's from the past in the first place, but she traveled in time really early in the course of event, so I'm not sure there is another version of her in the past. But to be present in the original timeline in the end of the game, she must have used the Gate of Time to travel to it before it closes in this timeline.
Thanks for reading this far, I hope it was clear, I hope it will get someone's interest, good luck re-phrasing it for the video if you take it Mr Gamer.

Late to the party here. But in the case for the crossbreeding in hyrule, we can clearly see that the Gerudo are already pretty mixed, my reason for this is that in Oot and majora, Gerudo features were yellow eyes and round ears, and by the time of BoTW, they have different colored eyes and pointy ears much like hylians. thus making me believe that crossbreeding between them has been happening for centuries.
In the case of the Zora, the same reasoning can be applied. In Oot and Majora, the zora looked very similar to one another indicating a bit of inbreeding (which is not uncommon among fish) by the time of BoTW they vary wildly from one another, and assuming they are mammals by the fact they breathe air, we can speculate that hylians were breeding with Zora at some point in time.

Sheikah and Yiga are Sheikah. Sea Zora, River Zora and Rito (and maybe Parella?) and Zora, Gorons are (unsurprisingly) Gorons, et cetera.
Though this would possibly imply, given their shared heritage, Zora and Rito can crossbreed. That would be weird to see. A long lived fish and a short lived bird rolled into one.

In Skyward Sword, the surviving Humans were sent to Skyloft. None of the Sheikah were sent to Skyloft. You only see Humans (and a stowaway Demon who later becomes Human). Impa is seen on the Durface, and some text implies that other Sheikah may have guarded Demise with her (though this is simply from ambiguous wording about "the Sheikah" guarding Demise, as it is described). The Surface Tribes are known as the non-Human Tribes. If the Sheikah Tribe is on the Surface, not with the Humans in Skyloft, then they would be a non-Human Tribe.
From Twilight Princess, it is shown that the Humans are somehow the descendants of the Oocca. I don't know whether this means that some of the Oocca evolved into Humans or whether they were created, possibly through scientific means; all we know is that Oocca are the ancestors of Humans. It is said that when the Humans began to walk the surface, the Oocca disappeared into a city in the sky that they constructed. This would mean they would exist outside the knowledge of Humans. However, the Royal Family still knows of them. How? Through the Sheikah, who act as mediators between the Oocca and Hylians. As such, this may mean that Sheikah and Oocca existed together at the same time, which would have to be before the existence of the Humans, which would make the Sheikah not Human.
On top of that, if Sheikah were Human, they'd be able to breed with all the races that Gerudo can breed with. Since Gerudo are (basically) only women, but Sheikah are both men and women, then the Sheikah numbers should generally always remain higher than Gerudo numbers, because any Human could be used to make a Sheikah baby, as opposed to only male Humans for the Gerudo.

I could argue that the Sheikah were made by Hylia to serve her, and thus were created in her image. Maybe it's the case then that Hylia transformed some of the Oocca into Humans, like how Valoo made the Zora into Rito or the Great Deku Tree made Kokiri into Koroks. The Oocca are allegedly the closest race to Hylia, so maybe she shaped them to be even closer to her, creating Humans.

For the second theory the dragons could be connected to the goddesses in a way that uses them to repair the master sword
Another theory I’ve had that builds off of the work of a few theories I’ve seen and a bit of my own. BoTW is not a cycle of demise’s curse.
First of all calamity Ganon isn’t a reincarnation of evil it is ganondorf (from the sequel trailer) trying to kill link and Zelda before he awakens. I’ll get back to that. Evidence for this is that the master sword (or four sword) isn’t needed to kill him like in every other Zelda game and the bow of light can be replaced with ancient arrows for DBG.
Next the master sword isn’t the real master sword it is a Sheikah replication like the royal guards weapons. This is supported by the sheikah monks upgrading it. Next the BoTW trailer showing the broken master sword shows it made of swirls like the patterns on shrines and towers.
So it’s not a reincarnation of evil and it’s not the master sword. Yes it’s link the hero and yes it’s Zelda with her sealing power - but wait in all other Zelda games zelda’s power is ready for ganon, but she hasn’t awakened it by Ganon’s arrival making me think the goddess wasn’t needed at that moment. However with ganondorf in BoTW 2 then that is what her power was supposed to awaken for. It only awakened earlier to save the hero.
Now to prove its not a part of the cycle we must mention one key point it’s a RE incarnation of evil not an incarnation of evil the last reincarnation of evil is still alive and that was probably done to stop a reincarnation happening by the royal family 10,000 years ago. So BoTW isn’t a part of the cycle.

For the -Tale of the Royal Guard-, the Hylian Shield in BotW might be more of an ornamental item. They leave the legendary shield protected by the beast of the dungeon. As part of test, the knight taking this test would retrieve it as proof of victory, but not keep it.
Compare it to the tradition in Minish Cap where the winner of the tournament gets to touch the Picori Blade, but not keep it since there's only one.

I ones had a theory that Makar island is a reference to BOTW2. You go to a lonely island in the middle of nowhere. There’s one dead tree which symbolizes Ganondorf. You pick up the rock under the tree, which symbolizes the cave in which you find Ganondorf. Under that rock you find a single piece of flint, you use that flint to light the fire. It might symbolize you awakening Ganondorf, because monsters spawn right after you light it (or sleep there). The spawning monsters symbolize the malice coming out of Ganondorf. And then there’s the fast wind when leaving the island, which symbolizes the sky in BOTW2.
I hope that this theory gets seen! Took me a while to think of, and I almost fully believe in this theory!

I figure Gerudo reproduction with Hylians is similar to Pokémon of the same egg group without a Ditto involved. The offspring will always match the species/race of the mother, i.e. Gerudo. It's likely similar for other race pairings, so a Hylian mother and a Rito father may have a Hylian offspring, but a Hylian father and a Zora mother would likely have a Zora offspring.

I think the Hylian Shield was this amazing artifact, as is seen is SS, but later down the line when everyone went and lived on the ground, strong shields baring the same crest were made. Maybe the proper made Hylian Shield replicas were given to elite guards or something along those lines, but not super common, whereas regular blacksmith made shields were sold at shops with a crest slightly different than the actual thing. (Taking the fact OoT's shield had a different style was probably because they didn't have the design nailed down and would be universal by TP.) Maybe in TP it was in the shop because there are less of them actually around and Malo was able to find one? He definitely has some weird and not exactly normal items in his shop after all. Then by BotW there are so few left that they've become this legendary shield again. Just a thought.

I like to believe that the hylian shield in skyward sword is one of a kind. And that it still exists, hidden away in the sky.
The one from botw was a replica made to be a one to one copy, it however isnt the original, the original was given to the first hero from skyward sword from one of the dragons. The shields in oot are a homage to the hero's original shield, to keep the memory of the first hero alive and would be a symbol of a knights courage in the face of battle.
Around the era of Twilight Princess, the shield would be one of a kind, a redesign that would be wielded by a courageous high ranking knight, one which would be killed during zants invasion then passed down and eventually sold. Likely cleaned and reinforced and purchased by mere chance by the hero of Twilight.

One big problem with the returning Loftwing theory is that the creators themselves have said that the Loftwings are extinct as a way to explain their one off appearance in Skyward Sword.......So, with that in mind, the only way this would work would be if there was a time travel aesthetic or feature to the game, which would allow you to go back in time, find a Loftwing, tame it and fly it around in the past, or maybe even bring it back with you to the future.........Depends on the mechanics they went by.......Sometimes, bringing something with you, back from the past, isn't shown to be too kind on the item or object you brought with you into the future, even causing it to sustain the same wear and aging it would have if you had left it there in the past, like the Dominion Rod. Other times, it does next to nothing to it.....Imagine the player trying to bring their Loftwing with them to the future, only for it to age to a pile of fossilized bones!

Theory BOTW's sequel will have multiple end goals unlike past titles and here's my rational behind why, and how it would work.
    1. In a large open world game with multiple quests it just makes sense to to have various endings for completing said tasks.
    2. Unlike BOTW which only offered minor rewards for completing primary side quests like the Divine Beasts or gathering memories said objectives would offer differing endings as well as additional bosses / dungeons.
    3. Well use this as hypothetical from what we know of the series. Lets say in the sequel you rush straight to Hyrule Castle. This ends in a fight against mummified Ganondorf, and unlocks the basic ending to the game. If instead you complete all primary dungeons before going to Hyrule Castle you now unlock a new fight after Mummified Ganondorf against a fully rejuvenated Ganondorf, which upon completion rewards a more satisfying ending. Finally if you complete all dungeons as well as some specific optional side quests before going to the castle, after beating the previous two aforementioned fights you now unlock one final dungeon culminating in the ultimate battle against the essence of demise, as well as the true ending of the story.
    4. It's an great way of rewarding players for going the extra distance to explore and experience the whole game, as well as creating more robust postgame potential.

  • @IamayMizono

I propose a question to you good sir: in a game with many things in groups of three, why does Hyrule only have two heroes? Technically Zelda is not THE hero, but her importance is still very significant. Zelda has been shown to have precognition (and retro cognition in the manga) the ability to heal, telepathy, sensory abilities (wither it's an approaching calamity or sensing darkness in the hearts of man) the ability to sense and speak with spirits, the power to break curses, purify and seal evil, as well as being a skilled sorceress and being able to wield a sword and bow. Zelda (like Link) is a tool to fit whatever role the Hero/Hyrule needs her to be. Does he need a guide? Zelda can predict the future and has enough knowledge to give Link any information he may need without confusion. Does he need an archer to watch his back? Zelda's got him covered with magic arrows. The point is, if you were to tell me that Zelda could/should be considered a Hero I would agree with you. So then my question is, why was Din left out when it came to getting/choosing a hero? Well my theory is, that there is a third hero. Who has the Triforce of Power? Who is around (usually) whenever the Triforce is a major point in the game? Who is a major powerhouse in every category? Who knows ancient and incredible magic? Who wields a giant sword like he's swinging a round a stick? It's Ganondorf. My guess is that after Hylia gave up her divine form and Demise was finally taken care of the Goddess looked into why Hylia tuned herself mortal, after all she is the caretaker of their favorite world, why all of a sudden can she no longer preform her assigned duties? Seeing the threat Demise was and his curse I believe The Three Goddesses choose their champions: an early incarnation of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. This could even be early enough in the timeline when Hyrule was still an incredibly young country so written history wasn't recorded yet. Likely between Skyward Sword and Minish Cap. During this time Demise attempted to take over the world but was completely defeated by the three heroes. Knowing that these three and their piece's of the Triforce (perhaps not sealed in the sacred realm yet) were incredibly strong and close he schemed a way to tear them apart. Now this next part can be split into 2 other theories: an incarnation of Demise once again threatened Hyrule and our three heroes rose to stop him. But during the last moments of the battle Ganondorf is struck with Demise's curse and Link and Zelda are forced to kill him (or a cool, heroic Ganondorf absorbs the curse to protect the other two knowing only he is strong enough to handle it but becomes possessed) this curse then tragically becomes attached to the soul of someone who reincarnates. Or the curse attached itself to a young Ganondorf (before he meets the other two) and leads him down the path of evil before his blessing from Din awakens then reincarnates with him. This part could take place during the events that lead up to Ocarina of Time. I'm attached to the first as it makes Demise more evil and fearsome. There is a lot of fan art around the internet for a "good Ganondorf who becomes corrupted" which is how I came up with this theory but I do have to say I very much like it. I ask you again; why is Din left out when it comes to getting a hero? It's not like the Hyruleans treat her like an evil Goddess. Anyway, hope this gets a "hmm" from people."

My burning Zelda Question is simple: What's up with Impa & "The King of Hyrule"?
We know why Link, Zelda, and Ganon show-up so often thanks to Skyward Sword. But _Impa?_ She's not part of the reincarnation/whatever, yet she's been in:
    1) The Legend of Zelda (referenced only)
1.5) The Adventure of Link (referenced only)
    2. Ocarina of Time
    3) Oracle of Seasons
    3.5) Oracle of Ages
    4) Skyward Sword
    5) A Link Between Worlds
    6) Hyrule Warriorrs
    7) Breath of the Wild
7.5) Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Okay, yeah, each Impa COULD be just named after the original, much like "all princesses are named Zelda", especially as almost no Impa ever resembles a previous iteration. BUT! The same _cannot_ be said of "The King of Hyrule"! Across the Zelda series we see the King six times, each with individual names (if given):
    A. King of Hyrule (Adventure of Link - referenced in backstory and artwork provided in manual)
    B. King of Hyrule (A Link to the Past - as shown in the credits)
    C. King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule (The Wind Waker)
    D. King Daltus (The Minish Cap - current king)
    R. King Gustaf (The Minish Cap- spirit of the previous king)
    F. King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule (Breath of the Wild)
All of these Kings could be carbon copies of each other. There's more variance between various _Princess Zeldas_ than there are between her various fathers! That...shouldn't be possible.
Bonus Question: Does King Rhoam's name of "Rhoam Bosphoramus" mean, "Wander(ing) Mountain Shephard", with "Rhoam" meaning "wander", "Bosphor" being the Turkish word for "Balken" (meaning "Mountain"), and -"amus" being a slightly altered version of the name "Amos", meaning "shepherd"? If so...does that ever well fit the character...
...And fits with the theme behind the previous King "Daphnes", which would be an off way of pluralizing the name "Daphne(s)", which is Greek for a Laurel tree...and the Laurel Tree in Greek myth coming from the story of a _water_ nymph _transformed_ into a _tree_ to escape the _God of War..._

I have a theory that there are 3 or 4 Triforces. Not the Tetraforce. Basically in OoT Ganon touches the Triforce and it gets split between him, Zelda and Link. He is sent to the Sacred Real still holding the ToP. Following the adult timeline he still has it, and somehow the ToC gets split into 8 pieces and Princess Zelda's descandants split the ToW into 2 pieces. But at the same time, Link comes back in the child timeline holding his ToC (which apparently got split into 8 pieces) Ganondorf has his as shown before the failed execution, Zelda has hers in TP and so does Link. Then in the downfall timeline Ganon has the whole Triforce (even though Link was sucessful in the adult timeline, and put a stop to Ganon's plans in the child timeline. I guess this is just an alternate reality) and then Lorule has its own Triforce. But yeah, how can the Triforce get split into 8 pieces and at the same time be in Link's possesion in TP? I guess Ganon wasn't aware he had the ToP until he was about to be executed because in the child timeline most of OoT events never happened. IDK man

    2. I think the 3 dragons in SS & BotW are the same, as they protect the same regions that they always have. Also, Lightning & Water go hand in hand & both deserts & tundras are baren wastelands.
    3. I think the curse is specifically about Ganondorf, as he looks like Demise, especially the hair, so it could be referring to him reincarnating to plague Link & Zelda ever so often. Given the fact that it probably took a while for him to be completely purified in the Master Sword, thus killed, it would explain why Ganon didn't appear until OoT. The only games where he died, instead of being sealed, are TP, LttP & LoZ. He was reincarnated after TP to be sealed in 4SA, resurrect & was sealed in the Oracle games after LttP, though being brain dead due to the resurrection.
    5. I think the original will appear in BotW2 being truly unbreakable.

I think what you buy in the later installments would be the replicas of the original considered rare because it's no longer being mass produced for the army.

I feel like its that the first Hylian Shield was an artifact but during the time of Ocarina of Time they developed the Hylian Shields for the knights as a sign of courage towards the knights to empower them, making them a common item. I wouldn't say that they would actually be the legit Hylian Shield but more of a regular shield. But down the timeline they would gradually forget about it and it would become rarer and rarer.

Even if the shield's lore was written as a magic artifact after his first appereance in ocarina of time, it still makes lots of sense.
Hyrulian army started to use a shield based on the magical artifact the hero utilized on legends to defeat evil. After that, the hero of time utilized one of that shields to defeat the king of evil on Hyrule's darkest hour. Thats the shield we find on BOTW, passed by Royal family generation to generation. Is quite simple.
Even if the royal guards stoped utilizing the original Hylian shield design, they kept a design based on this one as we can see on BOTW. In fact not only the shield but the royal sword also reminds to the master sword.

Glad you're back at the videos! What if the end of BotW 2 results in a full circle to A Link to the Past due to link failing to stop Ganon? Just saying, he can reverse time with objects in the new trailer...

I always have my personal lore that Malon from OoT has a gerudo mother. If you talk with her father with a gerudo (and goron) mask he comments that it looks like his wife (maybe a fat gerudo).

I'd like to see the connection between Demise and Ganondorf explored more and I personally believe Demise's curse is directly responsible for the lack of any Gerudo male at the time of BoTW.
We know that the curse of Demise dates back to SS, but Ganondorf didn't first appear until much, much later. My guess is that it took thousands of years for Demise's curse to actually kick in and once the original Ganondorf was born the curse was awakened in him, completely unbeknownst to him.
It was at this very point that the Gerudo male curse also kicked in - only one male Gerudo can exist at any one time, that always being Ganondorf. Whether he simply dies of old age or is slain by some kid with a bug net, the one and only Gerudo male is and will always be Ganondorf. I personally believe that's how Demise's curse was manifested.
I believe that after Ganon was defeated [in - insert game here] many tens of thousands of years ago, Ganon was reborn as a mortal Gerudo Male. He of course became king of the Gerudo. Somehow someone knew of, or simply figured out, the cycle of Ganon and realized that Ganondorf would one day become evil again, so at some point, probably some sort of ceremony, judging by his attire in the trailer, they tricked him in to entering a cave system deep below Hyrule where they sealed him with the green hand to keep him in a state between life and death to halt the rebirth cycle.
What's more is this theory also now explains why there hasn't been a Gerudo male for centuries at the time of BoTW - Because Ganondorf has been sealed away somewhere under Hyrule the entire time. He isn't dead, therefor cannot be reborn or resurrected, he's merely restrained in a dormant state, trapped inside a decaying mortal body but unable to die. This, I believe, is the purpose of the green hand we see in the trailer - It's some sort of magical seal that was used to halt Ganon's rebirth cycle. By the time of BoTW the hand has grown weak and Ganon is able to manifest his malice and take on a spectral bestial form - Dark Beast Ganon. I wonder if whoever cast the green hand spell somehow learned of Demise's curse and the cycle of Ganon; that Ganon's mortal form was always a Gerudo king named Ganondorf, and realized that killing Ganondorf would merely renew the cycle, so instead they attempted to seal him forever. What we do know is that Ganondorf has been held down there for literal centuries as the legend that is told in BoTW clearly states that it's actually Calamity that keeps on reappearing over tens of thousands of years, which is essentially Ganon's spectral malice form. To put it more simply - Demon Ganon is trapped within a mortal body, Ganondorf, and his malice is now leaking out from that mortal body because the seal that binds him has weakened over the centuries.
I believe that in BoTW2 we'll see that green hand expire and combine with Link, granting him new strange abilities, but also that Ganondorf won't just come back to life - how could he in such a state? Instead we'll see Ganondorf die and then transform in to Ganon the demon. Instead of merely defeating Ganon in combat it'll be Link's task to seal him away once and for all.... unless he breaks free again a few millennia later! After all it is pointless in killing Ganon as he'll just be reborn or resurrected and will return.
And on the topic of Gerudo-Hylian children. I'd honestly like to think that the above curse extends to them also and that they're all born as Gerudo Vai no matter what. That's honestly the only explanation as to how the Gerudo haven't become extinct or how their genes haven't been all but wiped out by now. If this Gerudo-Hylian mating custom has been going on for so long, literal thousands of years, countless generations, then it'd only stand to reason that every single Gerudo Vai in existence is only something like 1:1000 part Gerudo. There's just no way that any of them with so much Hylian blood in their veins would turn out with crimson hair and pointed noses, let alone their incredible physique. Bring that curse back to the equation and say that no matter what any Gerudo Vai will give birth to a full-blooded Gerudo Vai child then it all begins to makes sense again. There are a few light skin and extra thicc ladies in Gerudo Town, though. Perhaps they have way more Hylian blood than normal?
As for the shield: Simple; They're all fake. The only true Hylian Shield was seen in SS and the rest after that were replicas - extremely well made replicas in BoTW, but still just a replica. Otherwise it wouldn't break... which is just kinda shit tbh. Why not just have it recover over time like the Mastersword?

In regards to the first Hylian shield I'd point out only the item description said it couldn't be broken. It was only ever described by the one who gave it to you as "absurdly sturdy".

Interesting how the only other shield passed down from family generations is the shield the hero of time used that hangs on the wall in Link's house in Wind Waker.

What if the hero that defeated the calamity 10,000 years ago was the current link and then in the sequel we time travel and see hyrule from 10,000 years ago

11:30 ~ There's also the possibility that ... since we don't see other references os the pairing, It's a safe assumption to say that they can't really generate a offspring.
What would justify that, even thought the species live for millennia in a friendly relationship, free to come and go from the others territories, their "tribes" still live secluded from one another.
Note: I'm not saying that they shouldn't have their own territories. But any person you find on a territory, that is from another tribe, it's either a traveler or a peddler, you don't have residents (even in the castle town).
