      @@Coco-by8qs Yes it does. Destroying the legs does drop some loot for each of them but that doesn't change the ammount of loot the actual body drops.
      So yes, if you just kill a guardian without cutting the legs you will miss out on the leg drops while the body won't drop more or less if you cut them first.

    So the way I played BotW was to go around and get all the towers activated so I had the whole map, and I often visited places quite substantially out of order. Because of that, I have this little thing to offer: in terms of Robbie always being home, when I visited the Akkala lab before activating the Hateno lab, it was, in fact, empty - I don't know where they went or why, but no one was home at all, and I had my run of the place. It wasn't until after I'd visited Pura in Hateno that they showed up in Akkala. That, at least, confirms what Nobo said about it being empty.

  • @drfoto2673
    @drfoto2673 4 ปีที่แล้ว +115

    About the Hateno tech lab the "Director" that the villagers speak of is actually Purah, If you read her diary and speak to some more people it becomes clear that her de-aging was a fairly recent thing. Because of her changing to a little girl she has seemingly become even more secluded (so as to not frighten the villagers) and that's also why the children are talking about there being a little Sheikah girl as a rather recent development.
    The reason they say the "director" is not the kind to adopt is most likely because Purah is rather eccentric and seemingly fully dedicated to her research and experimentation. This could also be the reason why the villagers are against their kids going there, they know Purah and her assistant aren't bad people but they are definitely strange people and not something they'd want their kids to be around too much.
    At least that's what I got out of it when I played the game.

    • @LibraritheWizardOfficial
      @LibraritheWizardOfficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Yes, very much this comment. You get a ton of confirmation of this if you carry the blue flame around Hateno and talk to everyone. Most of them know Purah and wonder why she'd send Link instead of getting the ancient furnace flame herself, or wonder why she doesn't come down to the village anymore.

    • @OtakuUnitedStudio
      @OtakuUnitedStudio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Purah seems to have never married or had children, unlike her sister. I'm not necessarily sure she _dislikes_ kids per se but she certainly doesn't seem to be very up to date on what kids like or do despite living right next to a village with lots of kids.

    I’ve got a theory that the telescopes were made to be a sort of early warning system. The telescope in Hateno points right over fort Hateno, the only road into and out of the village. If the guardians ever moved toward the village, they would have to go through the canyon, which is where the telescope was looking. They could then evacuate towards the ocean and loop around the beach to the road on the south west of Ebon mountain.
    As for the Akkala telescope, you said it was mobile and it might have served for warning central Hyrule of ocean invaders, but that doesn’t make sense, the telescope is positioned way too far north to be of any use. Where the boats could theoretically unload troops is further south, closer to the citadel, and unless the messenger was Rito, I don’t believe that they could get to central Hyrule fast enough to warn them, assemble and send an army or reinforcements. I think that it was also used as a warning system because unlike Hateno, Guardians could come from all sides instead of one point, and that’s why the telescope is mobile.

    If you line up a triangle with the two tech labs, they connect with the Saas Ko'ah shrine under Hyrule Castle. If you go outside and directly above where the shine, then it lead to Zelda's tower room. If you look around in her room you find a telescope. So whatever research was going on Zelda and the Sheikah was working together.

Given her connection to Hylia it's probable that the Goddesess would also want to communicate with her as well.

    I think the labs are researching how to build their own divine beasts. The Akkala lab is focusing on how to make the body and defensive measures because It's telescope is looking at Divine beast Vah Rudania which would be smart to study it you plan on building you own. It can turn to look at Lomei Labrynth which is a still standing structure made by the zonai and you'd want to study it if you are trying to make something incredibly durable. And it also can look at the Akkala Citadel ruins which are overrun with corrupted guardians and malice and the best way to defend against an enemy is to study them. The Hateno lab is looking into how to power the new divine beast by studying The Lord of the Mountain and the blupees who's glows are similar to the glow sheikah technology gives off and could be a natural occurrence of the same power like how lighting is a natural occurrence of electricity which we use to power all our stuff

    Satori Mountain has more connections to spiritual energy than that.
    It glows similarly to luminous stones that are known to contain souls of the dead.
    It glows like the champions.
    The Lord of the mountain is a spectral glowing ghost horse that represents Iwata, who passed away during development.
    Lastly in the sequel trailer we see a TON of luminous stones in a massive cave system.
    I'd wager it's more than enough stone to make a mountain glow at night

    The lab symbol being a telescope to me hints at Sheika tech possibly having some connection to astronomy. We do see a lot of celestial symbolism in the shrines, with symbols that look like constellations on the walls, and it's also clear that celestial events can influence the world in tangible ways since we have blood moons. Perhaps Sheika technology is somehow powered by the sky and that's why telescopes are a fundamental part of these labs.

      Downfall timeline Impa is not confirmed to be Sheikah, just named Impa. And of those 5 appearances, Zelda and Zelda 2 only have her in the backstory in the manual, not the main game. However, you do still have a point with this one since the Oracle games have Impa and her official artwork for them does get red eyes, implying she is a Sheikah.
      However, as for Fanadi, there are only 2 hints she is Sheikah. A symbol similar to the Sheikah eye (similar, but not the same) and her Japanese name referencing Impa. She has never been confirmed Sheikah and only has the one appearance. Impaz, however, has far more suggestions at being Sheikah, even having red eyes, though is still unconfirmed, surprisingly.
      So while funny, I'm sorry to say that you're not really right...

    When i mapped out Hateno Telescope path using multiple map markes and the 'gun sight' protrusion and assuming it's a relatively perfect cone, I got a similar but distinctly different result, My Hateno telescope is pointing more to the north, towards Nero Hill/Tabantha Tower or beyond with high repeatability. It's path clearly cuts through the Pillars of Levia landmark south of Kakorio village instead skirting just north of the dueling peaks. Straight Across plain Hyrule until it it
    While the concept art is one thing, it's worth noting the Akala facility doesn't have 180/360 degree functionality due to the surviving wall and structures, to point out to see Robbie is gonna have to do a little constructive destruction. If it turned considerably at it's present height it risk some minor wooden decking that it could avoid in the back by tilting up a bit, or down a lot. It's entirely possible the left and right movements of the tower are vestigal traces of the lighthouse as even the tilting mechanism is surrounded by wooden floor.
    Given the structure we can guess that Akala has rough turning visual limit of Suma Shama shrine down by the gerudo labryinth and (luckey i had rain when i was looking to see a red glow in the distance to investigate) the blood moon rising behind it, at the southern end of it's rotation and a few more degrees maybe 10 to the northern end. It could rotate some more to the south but the only interesting besides the rock cliffs behind zora's domain is Mount Lanayru and and Akala Tower at ground level or the really islands. Mount Lanyru is where Naydra spawns if i remember correctly.
    What Is interesting about Akali present position is it currently is pointed at Death mountain one death mountain's Rock pillars, Southwest of Gutcheck rock and Gorae Torr, and beyond that is the Eldin Great Statue where Dinraal appears. Tabantha Bridge stables conveniently located in a gap between 2 mountains. The first time i did this, I got Mount Rhoam a little north of the stables. If i had to guess i'd say Hateno is either looking for a signal from Kakoriko, which is not sensical or watching the eastern border/skyline through gaps in mountains.
    It's also worht noting due to a lack of Eye Piece, Akala has more in common with a canon barrel bearing a lens in it's mouth then the other Shiekah telescope and both appear to have been salvaged and placed there with great effort given we have nothing to suggest our sheikah labs could reproduced the material or design used.
    Coincidentally Dinraal Vanishes in relative the true sightline of Hateno Labs, and appears within current position tilted up sight range of Akala Labs. We have a convient and accurate connection between the both labs and a second element.
    Take a look The validity of the red line is not my work, only the black edit lines. s1375.photobucket.com/user/nighplasmage/media/BotW-Dinraal-Map-640x360_zpsy0dp50oa.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

      There is a secondary telescope barrel under Hateno's main barrel, and the main telescope has a downward angle. By standing lining up with the supporting pillar and looking directly at my feet, then using the telescope to zoom in and look out, the only interesting feature between there and Tabantha tower is an oddity. There is a large unnamed hill in BotW of all things and it in the direct path of hateno's telescope's potential targets. it is located north north west of Central Tower.
      As i warped out to go investigate i noticed the front of the telescope is very odd looking indeed. The Hill so large and lumpy it's not apparent that you can see it from the Central tower, but on the Hateno Facing side, a Shiekah Guardian patrols the slope. Beyond that a little north-east of Mount Roam is the shiekah puzzle originally covered in a lighting storm.
      Tabantha's tower comes out of Nero Hill, which has the distinction of laregly being covered in malice
      So to sum up Hateno's targets, Dinraal, Shiekah Guardian, West of Hyrule, Tabanath Tower, Mount Rhoam, or the Toh Yahsa shrine's weather effect.
      I think Mount Rhoam pretty much blocks Most targets behind it, and has a interesting coloration almost charred to it.
      So My final answer is the Guardian patrolling the hillside.

    Does it really make much sense that a rotating telescope to one side of the mountain is responsible for watching the path of a gigantic, completely mobile automaton that crawls all over and around the mountain within minutes? Robbie wouldnt even be able to blink before it would be way too late to send any sort of warning. In fact, if Rudania started for Goron city, is the telescope even on the right side of the mountain to see that route? Not to mention if it WAS some sort of guard tower then there have to be someone watching at all times, right? Or else it's completely redundant!

  • @gabriellockwood2780

    Remember, the Divine Beasts had been in a "sleep Mode" until Link awoke and activated the Great Plateau Tower.
    They just meandered around and didn't actively "Attack" outsiders, until 100 years post Calamity.
    Then the Shiekah tech was activated and they became MORE DANGEROUS.
    So Robbie probably studied Rudania in case it began to climb down from Death Mountain, as not only were him and his wife the "Only" people actively living in Akkala, but they're living "on top" of one of the Divine Springs, and as mentioned in the video-their house was a lighthouse.
    If their lab fell to Rudania just getting too close and spewing fire, and THEN a seafaring tribe/attack came, Hyrule could've been decimated within a few months.

    Something really fascinating about the Akkala tech lab is that it was a lighthouse, which in turn suggests that there was some form of sea travel back in the days. Now we do have Lurelin village and their boats and oars and the rafts along the Hyrule rivers but I haven't really seen anything else that suggests any real sea travel.
    There is also very little in terms of settlements in Akkala. There's the stable sure, and Tarrey Town doesn't count as you create it during the game. There's the ancient furnace which is something mysterious in and of itself, and then there's the lightouse. There are however plenty of ruins along the coast of Akkala, but they all seem to be from way more than 100 years ago as they are similar in style to the ones found in the Great Columns where you find a shrine and a memory after the Tabantha Great Bridge.
    It would seem that Hateno lab is also a lighthouse due to its positioning but it could also easily be a refurbished windmill like those found in the village itself.

    The Sheikah were looking at Constellations. But I have a different theory as to what the tech labs were doing. These telescopes are "inherited" from the ancient Sheikah. They also coincide with the locations of the ancient furnaces. But also they happen to coincide with locations WITHOUT a divine beast. Which are all powered by these furnaces.
    The theory is, ancient furnaces are built on locations of spiritual power, perhaps former locations of Temples. The Sheikah built the ancient furnaces to tap into this power, and the two labs are in fact locations of yet to be made or even Unfinished Divine Beasts.
    They are divine because their designs are based on the Constellations. As well as being run on divine energy.
    Now you may wonder why we dont have telescopes in the other regions then? The telescopes are incorporated into the divine beasts as focusing lenses for their signature laser beam.
    Plus given each beast was designed to be piloted by a different race of hyrule, we are "missing" a divine beast for Hylians and Sheikah. These are our missing divine beasts.

    TotK explains what they were researching. Lots and lots and lots of explosions.

    The telescope pointed at Satori Mountain could be part of the tribute to Satoru Iwata, the Nintendo president who passed away while the game was being developed. Apparently the Lord of the Mountain is a tribute to him, so maybe it's a cool way to point you in that direction

    I wonder where they got those telescope from, those aren't something you just find laying on the ground, was they attach to something else?

      I believe they took them from Hyrule Castle or the research lab ruins near the castle :)

      Might have been scavenged from old ruins buried somewhere.

    The northern telescope doesn’t seem to be optical necessarily. Perhaps it picks up spirit or radiation signatures. If you project its current sighting through death mountain, what else is along that line? Does it also point toward satori mountain? Or at what point would both sightings intersect?

      Nah the Akkala one cannot see Satori Mountain from my understanding :(

    I’d love to see you revisit this subject in light of the trailers for TOTK and the green energy near Satori Mountain.

    Doesn’t the luminous stone glow look like the Satori Mountain glow?

    I actually always thought they were to look at stars. We know Sheikah are interested in stars bcuz of the star designs on Sheikah tech. I wonder if that will play a bigger role in the sequel

      Perhaps the Akkala one was/is but I can't see the Hateno one being that personally :D

    If you walk through hateno with the blue fire on a torch each of the villagers will tell you something about the lab or about purah

  • @CBruceNL

    Great content! Sorry if I missed it, but, do you think *they* built the telescopes, or were they left over? The construction seems to be the same as the shrines, which we know Robbie and Purah didn't built, but became pretty handy with.
    Maybe the major relics they protected were two guidance stones, two telescopes, and the slate?

    maybe its something to do with the dragons. akkala is close to dinraal and hateno is close to naydra. in botw if u use dragon parts in elixers it makes it go for longer. it could be to do with enhancing soldiers as that is what purah was attempting which is why she looks 6 but is like 116.

    With the fact that there was a lighthouse, it kind of implies that there would be ships from other places like beyond Hyrule, don't you think? Sure they could be coming around but still

  • @olithegeek9713
    @olithegeek9713 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    perhaps the akkala telescope is meant to be aimed at the labyrinth to keep an eye on it seeing as there are quite a few flying guardians above. maybe trying to keep the tech lab from getting destoryed by guardians in the same way the lighthouse it used to be was.

    If you think how powerful the scope is on the Sheikah Slate, telescopes as big as the one on the Sheikah Tech labs have the potential to be crazy powerful, depending on how successfully they have replicated ancient tech. The Akkala Lab telescope could be used like the Hubble Space telescope. From the patterns on the shrine walls, the Sheikah seem to be interested in the stars. Maybe they're used to look out into the universe for other life, or the Sheikah might look out to the stars to divine the future and aid their prophecies.

    I've always wondered about the telescope as well. I suspect it will have a much bigger impact in the 2nd game!

    Akkala Tech Lab, Robbie isn't there until you talk to Impa. Not very useful info, but I did just find that on my last playthrough. Some other missing NPCs are those with camera quests until you get the camera rune.

  • @mistermcman2243
    @mistermcman2243 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well I think it was built so Purah and Robbie can watch each other from other regions. I also think the telescope in Hateno was supposed to face the direction of Akkala, but Purah did not know how to build a machine to make it turn. We don’t know how the telescopes work so maybe if they were facing each other they may have been able to see right through the mountains and everything to see each other.

    I suspect they were bolted on, so to have a genetic scientific visible symbol, much like the stables are horses. Hence the map icon also being something identifiable as scientific

    I can’t help but wonder if there are (or were) Ancient Satellites that connect with all terrestrial Sheikah tech.
