  • This is the seventy-sixth in a series of videos I’m going to produce to document the building of my Trumpeter 1:200 model Titanic. In this episode I cover fitting the compass platform and the forward dome cover over the grand staircase.
    If you want to see more regular updates have a look at my Instagram page (same name as the channel). I post photos as I'm building there so you don't have to wait for the videos to be edited!

      Looking fwd to seeing the steps! The compass stand had been dispensed with by the time my time frame came about. I will use the compass though above the bridge later as they popped one up on the bridge roof in the 1920's.

      Hi there! Well always interesting to see what they find on the wreck. Some of the big things are going to be too deeply buried to get much useful info from. But it’s always quite interesting to see how comparatively little we really know, things like the ventilators. Feels like I’m guessing a lot more than I’m working from reliable sources!

      Oh no that’s a pain, could you do some rework to get some light through? I didn’t fit the lights surrounding the domes, I just rely on the light coming from the staircase itself.

    Re the compass platform I believe it would have been planking, the structure that sits on the legs would have had minimal metal except maybe bronze etc. else it could have an effect on the readings.

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well in truth not all that many.
      I made a scratch built model Titanic about 14 years ago (the first video on the channel shows that).
      Other than that I have done a scratch built HMS Hood, and a fishing boat.
