Both of them are very good at what they're doing hopefully they will continue for a long time..both very professional and a joy to see and hear their stories..
Ricou Browning passed away just last year at age 93. Johnny Weismuller was an Olympic swimmer. He starred as Tarzan in many movies in the 1930's and 40's. Thanks for another fun ride Michael and Jessica! Oh, and Jessica, love the way your hair coordinates with the mask!
This is awesome, that not only do you keep the legend of these types of movies alive, but your videos are educational to the new generations who didn't know bout the topics until grim life explained in details both verbally and visually . Bravo
Cool video. Brings back memories. When I was a kid, I was able to watch reruns of all the old 50s horror/sci-fi movies on late night TV, Creature from the Black Lagoon being one of them. Those were some of the best movies ever. They were pretty corny with giant spiders, grasshoppers, gila monsters, and more. My favorite was "Them" about giant ants 🐜, The ants were so fake but hilarious to watch now. It actually had a pretty well-known cast of actors. If you've never watched it and the movie Attack of the Giant Spider, it's definitely worth it. It shows how far Hollywood has come for sure.
Might I add, that they filmed Tarzan on the Rainbow River in Florida and we would camp there all the time. If you take a canoe or small boat it'll lead you to an old monkey enclosure, where they still have the nets up and walkways. It's really cool. Also, the man that made all the underwater submarine type vehicles for the 70s James Bond movies lives and might still live there. Be careful, if you go. They're are many smaller streams that are loaded with rattlesnakes. Seen about 10 down one like they owned it. Scared the shit out of sister.
Many people find it fascinating to visit film locations because it gives them a sense of connection to well-known stories, actors, and the cultural context of the films. The idea of standing on the spot where a favorite movie was filmed can leave a stronger impression than just watching the film itself. On the other hand, I experience a feeling of melancholy. The transience of things - the realization that everything, including popular film locations, is subject to time - prompts me to reflect more deeply on the meaning of memory, heritage, and fate. These feelings often lead me to contemplate how I value my life and my experiences in the world.
I camped there in the 70s with the boy scouts 😂. We used to roll bowling balls down that wash (it was clear then). Some sets were there too. Epic walk through as always you two!!
Great video, remember watching this as a youngster and purchasing the 3D glasses as it was televised on basic tv. I also recall at the end him waving goodbye as he swam away 😂. Classic film nonetheless. Thanks for sharing guys. So much fun hanging out with you.
As a child in 1956, my family visited Coriganville and rode on a stagecoach and also met the Cisco Kid. There were all kinds of westerns sets and streets you could roam.
Wow, the African Queen movie with Humphrey Bogart & Katharine Hepburn was filmed at this location!! Amazing > You both got to step & enjoy where they were, as well!! Classic+
I have 3 things to text. 1. A compliment: I have watched so many dull documentary locations on the Universal monster films, which I love, too. Yours, however, is entertaining, informative, and fun. Thank you. 2. Johnny Weismuller: For MGM, Johnny (an Olympic gold medal winner) was their first and best representation of Tarzan. But as he got older, they felt he wasn't as youthful to play Tarzan. Not wanting to lose their star, the studio took the character of Jungle Jim and had Johnny play him. He said he felt too old to play Tarzan, but Jim was a clothed, not loincloth version of Tarzan. There are only 13 or 14 movies that run short on air time. Not too bad for their time. 3. The underwater window shots: Do you have an idea on how they used a 3D camera with a window. It was blue and red lense shots with two cameras. But was it one lense for two films? How was it done? I'm an old fart at 60, and the memory on it escapes me. Your imput would be great. That's all. And thanks for the video on a great movie.
Greatly told, beautifully filmed. I thought the video, among other things, of the 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' was great. And now Formicula/Them!, Tarantula can't be far away... Greetings from Germany
What's up Michael and Jessica! Love your videos and channel. Congratulations on winning the best podcast award. You guys deserve it. You guys are one of my favorite TH-camrs. You guys are awesome.
I remember going to Silver Springs Florida and touring it, and seeing the filming spots for this movie, along with Tarzan filming locations. Fun mention, you should check out Bruce Mozert’s photos….He spent years taking some amazing photos at Silver Springs. Absolutely beautiful.
This was sooo cool! I remember your video you did in Florida and was amazed by that as well! But so cool seeing like the perspective of the cameraman for the underwater shots! Too bad you couldn’t get all the way in there! But the overall area looks like such a cool hiking or hexercizing place! So big and beautiful! Highlight of the adventure has to be baby ghoul accepting her award dressed as Creature! She deserves every award as well as you do Michael! Thank you for this amazing adventure again! I shall go to bed happy that I got my Grimm fix for the evening! Such a perfect way to end any day, or week, or month or year or afterlife hahaha 👻💚🦇love you both!
Thank you, Michael and Jessica for another cool video with a retrospective look back into the film of The Creature From The Black Lagoon. I have watched this movie many times over the years. It never gets old. The Gill Man as the creature was also known, was a brilliant concept in movie magic in my opinion. :)
Julia Adams was great in the movie .Had the great opportunity to meet her and have her sign a poster but Ricco I still need.Excellent classic .This was my personal favorite monster of all time because I found it fascinating the suit Ricco had to wear .Great creature concept.
I LOVE a "Deep Dive" into the Creach!.... Old Hollywood Horror is the groovy BomB, and your CFBL art is SO nice ---- Hope you do a "What you have in Your Collection", soon... That would make a great episode, or episodes (you could do a breakdown into several episodes)... Thanks, for taking us all along, and much love... Happy Halloween...... :^)"""""""""""""
I’m always ready for the spookiness of it all. Baby Ghoul is so amazing with that mask on. Thanks for another great filming location. Y’all are seriously the best.
Well Done, I remember watching thr Creature from the Black Lagoon when I was a small child. It Spooked me then. As I got older and saw the film, it was Classic. Cool how the Movie Makers used the parks for filming. Griffith Park has many filming locations to movies and shows. 😊
My favorite all-time monster, Universal Studios, or otherwise. The first video I ever watched of you guys was when you bought the Creature from the Black Lagoon beach towel. I went right out and bought one. They are beautiful and added it to my Creature collection. Keep up the great entertainment. And congrats on the award. Thanks a Grimmillion!
best youtube channel ever, I've been watching since before Jessica, and I must say the magic between you two makes it even more special, thank you both
When u done the close up on the ridge where the mining cave was at..ur hair such a shine to it..a glossy shine.. nice hair texture..it was a beautiful area there..best part was u and Jessica sitting on the bench, relaxing..the mask was awesome.. thanks for sharing..
Great video Michael! So much film history in that one area alone! Creature from the Black lagoon has always been one of my favorite classic horror movies! And yes I did see Billy the kid versus Dracula some years ago... Cheesy but I love it!
These and the other close by mountain's, ( as you well know) is filled with history of Hollywood and grizley crimes. I visited this small park a few years ago, but you guys have shown me so many more little bits and pieces of that history. Love you guys.
Great video! It's not that a yearly Creature Black Lagoon video is too much. It's that it's not enough and there are not enough on TH-cam haha. These are amazing locations. Just purchased a vile of water from Wakulla Springs since it's not an ideal vacation area
How cool is this!! Talk about bring back memories! I remember seeing this movie in the drive in!! My parents liked scrary movies and would take me and my siblings to see them. Thinking back they had to have seen Bates Motel, (not sure if I’m correct on the name of the movie 😵💫) but when they took us kids, there are 4 of us, Mom pushed us down behind the back seat and ordered us not to watch the part where she gets killed in the shower!! But… we did peek!! I was pretty much afraid to take showers for a very long time unless someone was in the bathroom with me! 🤣🤣 and this movie….when your 7 or younger, who’s to say that Hollywood didn’t actually capture this monster and make a movie??!!! I kind of miss the innocence of childhood…..❤️❤️❤️

Loving those pics. One of my favorite movies. Hold tight to those pics. Beautiful place. The African Queen is a classic as well. 🖤 Congrats again, you work hard and you get recognized.
Another fantastic video! I laughed when I saw Corriganville...in comics the Spectre (a murdered cop that came back to fight crime) was originally named Jim Corrigan! Gotta get a chuckle from that.
That Park is a very cool place to visit especially to visit all the Movie Plaques around the grounds. I think there are 13, the pond is way awesome to sit back and imagine when and how and you have to stroll through Sherwood Forest and imagine Erol Flynn jumping from a tree as Robin Hood. Thank the both of you for exploring that part of Movie Magic.
Love your video! Seeing where the creature from the Black lagoon. Was filmed. I understand the actor playing the Gilman. Couldn't breathe. Very well. In his costume. I'm happy for Jessica about her award.Michael gave her.
Really great meeting you guys here in the parking lot the other day! You and Jessica were so nice to our boys letting him take a picture with the mask was awesome!
I'm a caregiver for a man who LOVES The Creature From the Black Lagoon. He has a collection of memorabilia. I'll have to share your video with him.
I would love to see that! Hope you can post it someday.
My great aunt was married to Rico ! They lived out in Hawaii and he loved what he had contributed to horror.
Both of them are very good at what they're doing hopefully they will continue for a long time..both very professional and a joy to see and hear their stories..

COOOOOOL!
Just in case you weren't aware, Johny Weissmuller was well known for his role as Tarzan back in the 30 and 40s. Along with the Jungle Jim roles.
Might I add, that they filmed Tarzan on the Rainbow River in Florida and we would camp there all the time. I was surprised too as it was famously filmed in Uganda and the Congo. Everyone got sick! Maybe they did retakes here.
