You might really like to listen to Floor's version of Shallow from Beste Zangers and then Shoemaker from Nightwish's new album Human:Nature. Two songs so different that it's hard to believe the same person sang them.

You really need to see Floor's chameleon-like run on the Beste Zangers TV show: she hits so many styles and so incredibly well it's astonishing. Also, please react to Nightwish's official live video of Everdream (at Wacken 2013) for more of her insane mix/belt ability.

Great point on the difference between the versatility of interpretation and the technique to back it up.
You most defenitely NEED to react to Epica: Stabat Mater Dolorosa and Sancta Terra - Live Retrospect Show Ft. Floor Jansen ( Simone Simons - Floor Jansen )
Two of the three operatic symphonic metal Queens of Europe doing Bel Canto and Lieder style live in front of thousands of metal fans,- and they love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After that: Nightwish - Phantom Of The Opera and Dark Chest Of Wonders - End Of An Era dvd 2008 ( Tarja Turunen - Nightwish´s original singer,- the one who put operatic symphonic metal singing on the map. )

I may be the only one, but I would like to see a reaction on Floor when everything is not ok. Ghost Love Score in Buenos Aires 2018, when Floor was ill. She was REALLY struggling! She manages to nail the famous last note though, and her and Emppu's, the guitarist, reaction right after was heart warming.

You're a fantastic teacher! You break style and technic so pedagogical, easy to follow and understand. Never had such "oh, that makes so much sense. I've never thought of it like that".
    You've got a new subscriber! 😊
By the way, your reaction of Floor Jansens singing with Nightwish is absolutely the best one on TH-cam (and there're a lot of them on this site). Please react on their song Everdream with Floor from Wacken 2013 as well 🙏

Floor Jansen and Nightwish are the main reason I took singing lessons. My teacher assigned me songs like "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor or "Memory" from Cats. At first, I didn't understand why she chose pop and theatrical songs, but now I'm grateful she pushed me out of my comfort zone and let me experiment with other genres and styles, 'cause I struggled the most with interpretation and this really helped me.
Still have a lot to learn tho, I'm definitely following you for more educative and explanatory content!

If you would be interested in exploring Floor's versatility some more, I would suggest reacting to her performances on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers, where she covers songs from other artists in a large variety of styles. She also uses lots in the Nightwish songs from the Wacken 2013 show, the Wembley & Tampere 2015 ones and for older songs, the Buenos Aires 2019 show.

I'm learning a lot watching you. You put it in simple terms for the non-specialist, without talking down, which is important. Floor actually demonstrated the versatility you have surmised, in 7 episodes of Best Zangers. Here are the links ( I missed two but you can find them): She sings a frank opera piece in German "Vilja Lied" th-cam.com/video/lcLG5X1i2QM/w-d-xo.html; A Dutch soft rock ballad "Mama" th-cam.com/video/sj1ibZrjQTs/w-d-xo.html; Channels Patsy Cline (!) th-cam.com/video/ahykaAPHhs8/w-d-xo.html; Salsa, in Spanish: th-cam.com/video/DfYeLUoqw0E/w-d-xo.html; Channels Lady Gaga (but better, IMHO) th-cam.com/video/3Pf7Xd3IVtU/w-d-xo.html; and blows the roof off with her Phantom duet with Henk Poort, the great Dutch opera baritone: th-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/w-d-xo.html. Add in this Nightwish song and you have almost every conceivable vocal style covered (other than yodeling and Mongolian throat singing): th-cam.com/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/w-d-xo.html. Warning: You might be fooled for a moment, but it is NOT Marco doing the growling. Not my place to run your channel, but you could do an entire week on this series and no one would mind.

Thanks for the explanation and you are right Floor has the ability to sing in every genre with that perfect connection between style and technique and has already shown that in many songs she did. To be honest from the other persons you mentioned i have not seen that yet, and i refer special to all the genres in metal. Included Growling, screaming etc. You name it , Floor has done it all.

Thanks for giving us the link. It was a real joy to watch that again. There are some fan footage available from these bonus performances from the "Nightwish Cruise" that took place on the ship Baltic Princess on June 9, 2015. This includes a rare and first ever performance of "Edema Ruh". These videos always cheer me up. Just for fun, here's a link to the same "Alone" with another camera angle but with a lower quality sound:
      th-cam.com/video/OI2sojuvnrY/w-d-xo.html
I might as well add a link to the After Forever version. (After Forever was Floor Jansen's first band.) This seems to be quite rare and even Discogs has no information about it. I guess it's from a compilation "Metallic Emotions" released in 2007. I found these two videos:
      th-cam.com/video/Jd1mlXqR6Fo/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/r7uaHxyC1rY/w-d-xo.html

I really really would like to suggest two songs for next reactions:
"The Poet And The Pendulum - Nightwish. HQ with lyrics. Live @ Wembley 2016". Many people consider it a masterpiece of this band (it'd be helpful to read the background story of this song on wikipedia before in order to understand it, it's so moving).
And also Caleb Hyles' cover of "Show Yourself (Frozen 2)", since you already reacted to Panic at the disco's cover of "Into the unknown". Caleb's control on his lowest and highest notes amazes me, I think he's a really talented male vocalist on TH-cam :)
I love your reactions and explanations

What you said about style vs technique is gold. I teach a whole different thing - a brain game called Riichi Mahjong, but it works the same. Many people try to develop a "style" before learning the fundamentals. It mostly ends up with them using "style" as an excuse for all kinds of basic mistakes. Keep on going, sir!

Both Nightwish and Floor are incredibly diverse. Perhaps that is why they really get along, they explore different angles of the music together. My brother made a funny comment when watching the trailer for the new Troll movie, a rather blasphemous animation for rock fans in which Troll Rock is the bad guy who wants to unify the music world, he said. : "When Troll rock unifies the music world, they will be called Nightwish".

Subscribing just to see what you do with some of these recommendations. I do have one quibble. I have really tried, but I just don't get why people think Bocelli is so great. I understand the difference between classical crossover and opera, but still, he has no resonance, and an anemic vibrato. No comparison with, say, Mario Lanza. Or even Dimash, who of course has other special attributes.

I know you prefer to call twang = “gospel”, but I don’t think I agree since it’s just as much if not more of a rock thing as it is a gospel thing. You can call it for pharyngeal resonance, if you don’t like “twang”.
