I'm on the media launch of this tire today and we have the cup 2r, a052 and re71rs as comparisons. I'll post updates to IG at instagram.com/tyre_reviews?igsh=aTN2ZnM0bWwwazl5
In the US, the RE71RS & A050 are probably the preferred Trackday Tyres. In Europe the A052 and Direzza 03G are the go to Tyres. Hope they all get included, in your Test =) Cheers
Best tyre reviews on the Internet or any other format. Best because there is strong objective data with comparative data from previous Tire tests and excellent subjective feedback. Well done.
It would be vey interesting to see the trofeo rs and nankang crs also included in your upcoming performance benchmarking of this tire. Same car, same track conditions.
At some point I want to test the RS. The biggest issue at the moment is having the same size in all the tires which are not OE marked. Working on it :)
+1 for seeing it against Nankang CRS v2 (2023 compound) if sizes are available, I run CRS over A052 these days for time attack and it's the current top dog in 200tw for road course in my opinion
The trofeo RS finally is available in 992 3RS fitments and I was quite excited to try a set but it's 1.7-2x the cost of the Goodyear and cup2 in my fitments and I'm going through 3-4 sets a year. A bit bummed about the release price. Nice things cost money but man I don't need my consumables to go up that much
If you’re in the PNW in the USA, happy to help with the test with our 992 GT3RS. That said they need to release the 345 rear in either 19” or 21” for that test to happen!
Great work as always, Jonathan. And thanks for the GRM mention. Indeed, I have test tires coming next week for a full-on test versus appropriate comparables. As a side-note, Jonathan, myself and TJ from Tire Rack, who heads up their testing program, were all on track at the same time at Hoosier's media launch event for this new tire. Both of those guys can absolutely wheel a car consistently to the limit, so their results and analysis are to be trusted. Jonathan can even do that while talking on-camera, which is even more impressive.
Car weight matters with tyres in this segment. My 580 kg clubman runs AR1s, can lap all day with no grip degradation but the same tyre on my mates 1100 kg group NC Holden Torana historic touring car managed 5 laps and they turned to mush and wouldn't recover. The Nankang rep gave us some tips, mainly lower pressures with no joy. I have raced a variety of cars over the years and have found tyre choice to be mostly 'run what the guy whose wining runs' kind of works. Misha recently bagged crs Nankangs on a light weight VW golf when only weeks before he had a praised them on a BMW. I find these comparison test to be really only helpful if you race the same or similar car used in the test. Just my opinion of course, good luck in your next race everybody!
The Conti EG Force is also made together with Hoosier and was absolutely ahead for everything else when it came out. German endurance racing experience met American drag racing experience. Still one of the best tyres. Honestly - everything from Hoosier, Mickey Thompson and Continental is top notch.
Yeah I run these on my Track/Ocassional street car and they are fantastic. They are so hard wearing. Ive done many HPDE days on them (in a 3750lb RWD car)and they still have lots of life left.
Heh ya wow, what an exciting video and new product line. Had me hooked with inch of track. Hoosier is a deal breaker in my opinion. Good luck with future tests, can't wait!
Yes! Finally I know what to put on the wheels of my yacht-carrier trailer ;) Great fun to watch this review. Indeed a lot of 'pain and suffering' to drive such a car in these conditions :D Thank you for your sacrifice ;) P.S. Jokes aside - actually trailers could be a fine testing material - how they behave with different tyres on straights, curves etc.
I have to buy 3 sets and rain. I wish there were more reviews like this that included tires used in the USA club racing. Thank you for the quality content! RE71 was my go too but cant use SCCA.
I tried them at Palmer MS on my modified TTRS yesterday. and they were great . With the cool morning air i pb’ed by 2 sec…did a 1:45.i’ve had a 2 sets of CRSV and maxxis rc1 etc and like these the best. Stiff walls
Again I would love to see the side stretch comparison with different pressure from these and also for normal summer tires. Pressure is always big question that makes people comparing their tires performance which also effects a lot of the feel.
Great review as always. I'm not in this category of tire since I drive in colder weather and sometimes in heavy rain too with just a few track days per summer so I'm aiming for Eagle F1 Supersports. But it's always exciting comparing the 200tw class! Keep it up!
Sounds like a very interesting tire! I'm only half way through a set of Hankook RS4s which I'm still struggling to fully exploit the available grip but I'm keeping my ear to the ground for what I'll be replacing them with.
Great video as always! would be interesting to see if it has E markings for EU customers and how would it fare against ao52, cr-s and perhaps even ar-1 which are very popular choices in trackday/hillclimb/timeattack series
@@tyrereviews yeah, will not bother then, most rules require E markings for street class. thanks for the content again - has helped a lot in choosing the rain tyre in the past!
@@tyrereviews These tires are made in China Rydanz factory and branded in Japan, I was being lucky to test a set in Canada but not sure if there is any way to get them in Europe or US, probably directly contact Shibatire or Rydanz will help.
Hoosier is owned by conti now? Didn't know that.. used to be a small niche standalone but the big fish taking out the small guys is the norm I guess. I imagine its quite different on a bigger faster track and if alignment is optimized for each tire - differences would be much wider then methinks. Given there's quite good 200TW tires already, Cost/durability will be more important than outright grip at least in the endurance racing I would use them for (have used the Hoosier Rx for many years in sprint racing). For example, the yokos might be fastest, but they are also the most expensive and the RE71R falls off too fast. I'll give up a little grip to be able to run a full 24hrs on one set of tires without falling off.
Yep, they bought them a while back. The Continental Tire racing series which is call the IMSA Michelin Pilot Cup Series now. The Continental tire they ran were just rebranded Hoosiers.
I don’t think “the big fish, taking out the small fish” is such a bad thing. Firstly, I’m sure Hoosier previous owners were paid handsomely to relinquish ownership. Secondly, we should look forward to Conti using Hoosiers R&D/formula, combining with their own and create some monster tyres.
The acquisition happened in 2016. There was some skepticism of course, Hoosier has been such an important manufacturer for many forms of motorsports, but thus far it seems to be a pretty positive result for all parties. I will say, companies like the major tire manufacturers are extremely conservative compared to all the venture capitalist driven nonsense going on in other markets, so I don't think "buying them just to kill them off" was ever a real concern. More so of a "they better not screw them up..." concern lol.
Curious how it will stack against the Supercar 3R, since Grassroots Motorsports rate the 3R in the same grip category as the R7 and faster than any 200tw.
If you could include another attribute in your reviews: number of heat cycles before tire hardens up. We need to know if this is a 1 or 2 track day tire, or a tire that will also last 2k miles on the street. This is why most drivers don’t get the Cup 2R.
That's the big question for me. I'm running out of heat cycles long before I run out of rubber. The A052s can't last a full season of tracks days and autoXes. They heat cycle out.
On my 3000lbs car they were great first day . Better than CRS and RC1… Wear was ok for 2 days at the glen doing 2:10-2;12 but tire losing grip …then one day at lime rock and now feels. 80% cycled out. 16HC.. similar to crs/rc1 at 25+ hc. Still half of 5/32 thead left ..tried 32hot to 36 hot …. Sweet spot is 34+-
Ok for your next 200TW test here are some suggestions. Got to try out the new Continental extreme contact Force which as well as the Dunlop 200tw SP SPORT MAXX GT600 that is standard on the new Nismo Z that are supposedly really good. Obviously Bridgestone RE-71RS must be included but also the new Bridgestone Potenza Race which I know you’ve already done both independently but definitely a worthy inclusion to the test. Yokohama A052 obviously but would really like to see the Yokohama AD09 included as it’s meant to be a more endurance tire that’s also more suited to high speed stability compared to the A052 which is more suited to rally cross. Which on that note the BFGoodrich rival 1.5 is also Also the Goodyear Supercar 3 (220TW) you tested earlier seems like a good contender for this category Also some other worthy products in the 200TW range is like to suggest are the Kumho V730 Nankang CRS V2 Nexen N'Fera Sport R Also a Hankook RS4 given its probably the most popular 200TW endurance tire and gives a good baseline to viewers Also to throw a spanner into the mix I think the Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 Although a 340TW road tire is supposed to be very close in performance to a 200TW semi slicks tire. Product wise it sits between the Conti sport contact 7 and the extreme contact Force. Also I know Michelin and Pirelli are going to want to throw their Trofeo and Cup products into the mix so I assume they will already be there although from memory some of them are like 180tw so I don’t think they should be included unless they are 200TW or over.
I'm 830 wheel and use toyo r888r. Amazing street tire and hooks really well at my power level. I wonder if these tires would perform better for my purposes?
Damn, kind of surprised these arent made in a 205/50r15. I know its a very competitive size, but Id LOVE to see how these stack up against the other autocross tires.
Im wondering if somewhere like exotics racing in vegas would be happy to do a test. Their cars use after market steel brakes as a variable, but they have a shop right next to their track where they would be able to swap tires.
Looked at the tire graphic between ECF and Attack - looks like this new guy just drops some wet grip and ups dry, less endurance based. Curious how it will lead against the 71RS since that doesn't forgo wet grip and magically stays on top while keeping it.
I compared it to the RE71RS in a VERY limited slalom today and it warmed up fast, had at least equal grip if not more but felt more nimble and quicker to turn which is very nice.
video idea: Walmart exclusive tires from Goodyear. Read they are fine to dangerous, so bad people think something is wrong with their car getting alignments. It can't be that bad from a major brand, potentially tanking their reputation ... aren't they still the sole provider of NASCAR tires? Very interested in how they stack up> I needed a new set of track tires for 2025. A052's are my autocross tire, but they don't like heat and fall off quick for road racing.
Seems like I'll be waiting for availability on these, rather than getting R888R's I dont need them to last that long, these would be the tyres when I put under when I need to haul ass
@@GFTryBest In a year. I have a 718 GT4 and it has the same tire sizes as the 4RS. Looking at the marketing info., while the rears will be avail Q4 2024, the front sizes will not be avail until Q4 2025. I am giving the CR-S v2 a shot in the meantime in a few weeks as they just landed in port in NA, I am on Yoko AD09's now.
@@tyrereviews I wasn’t a fan of the Dunlops. The sidewalls are just a tiny bit stiffer than the Cup 2’s, but still weak IMO, and they dropped off quite a bit after 800 street miles. The SC3, AD09s are both much better than either OEM option on the GT4 and 4RS
How do you think they "feel" subjectively? I know when you tested the Goodyear SC3's, you praised them for not only their grip levels, but also how good they felt to drive on. I have used the SC3's on 2 cars now and I do love them too and how they feel and their characteristics. Do you feel that the Hoosier TrackAttack Pro gives off those same good vibes as to how they feel?
Please compare the trackattack against continental's own extremecontact force! The EC Force has been our champcar endurance team's secret weapon and I'd love to know whether we should buy a set of these to test.

Fastest tyre at Thruxton. ‘Take me to Church’!
Wait, what? Sell a child?
😂 As a Dad i just spilled my coffee 😂
You can always make another child for free
Hi, thanks, Goodyear makes a 200 don't they?
The Thermal Club has tons of supercars… Hoosier didn’t do a single test with a Gt3 on Cup2R and have laptimes from it ?
Very interested in how they stack up>
I needed a new set of track tires for 2025.
A052's are my autocross tire, but they don't like heat and fall off quick for road racing.
I want these tires...
Tho, @3:32... was it spitting rubber by the second?😅
How would the Hoosier track attack tyre compare to a Toyo r888r for straight line grip?
Anything on the Falken RS820 that you have mentioned a few times yet?
Sadly not, my summer test for next year is the wrong size for it.
Una pregunta , no has pensado en hacer review de neumáticos de moto?Seria la leche un canal así con pruebas de neumáticos de moto🎉🎉🎉
And nobody has mentioned that they drop off after a grand total of 5 heat cycles.(1 weekend) at $1,000 or more per set.
Can’t find anywhere in the UK to buy the R7
Please make a video about those bare DOT tire approved and pit them against each other like R7 vs nitto888 vs michellin vs pirelli vs nankang ect...
Seems like I'll be waiting for availability on these, rather than getting R888R's
I dont need them to last that long, these would be the tyres when I put under when I need to haul ass
They will be miles faster than R888R
when the 4 season test will come this year?
Yes, next week.
Just drove a GT4 RS with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires. Came with them from the factory. What the heck???
now u know what to get my friend
@@GFTryBest In a year.
I have a 718 GT4 and it has the same tire sizes as the 4RS. Looking at the marketing info., while the rears will be avail Q4 2024, the front sizes will not be avail until Q4 2025.
I am giving the CR-S v2 a shot in the meantime in a few weeks as they just landed in port in NA, I am on Yoko AD09's now.
The dunlops are pretty well regarded inside the industry, I'd be happy with it.
@@tyrereviews I wasn’t a fan of the Dunlops. The sidewalls are just a tiny bit stiffer than the Cup 2’s, but still weak IMO, and they dropped off quite a bit after 800 street miles.
The SC3, AD09s are both much better than either OEM option on the GT4 and
4RS
@@TRZ0612Michelins have always had weak sidewall support.
5/32nd's is currently NOT legal for SCCA TT, so that would be a very interesting choice by Hoosier if that is true.
Autocross requires 7/32.
Yeah, interesting choice, I can confirm that the new depth is below 6/32nds
Clearly that wasn't the intended market...many choices for that currently plus the rule is silly when folks shave their tires and that's ok.
Nice..
Now, it"s time for the fastest rain tire
How does it compare to the Goodyear supercar 3 tire.
Can you get these in the UK ?? had a quick google, no joy so far ?
i know its too early but will you do test of mid tier all season tires soon, and compare them to premium and budget all season ?
Just the usual all season test this year, lots of data for midrange will be on www.tyrereviews.com though
I would like to see you review the Potenza Sport vs the Potenza Race vs Cup 2 R on a Huracan STO please.
I did that! but on a Civic Si :(
I was just chatting with rob dahm and he's very impressed with the potenza race on his crazy car on the road
Thats insane. Have they announced 20/21 sizes for Porsche?
Yes, end of 2025 though
Is it a Fanatec wheel? Are they now using sim wheel on real car?
Please compare the trackattack against continental's own extremecontact force!
The EC Force has been our champcar endurance team's secret weapon and I'd love to know whether we should buy a set of these to test.
I'll ask them today about expectations, I'm 100% sure the TAPro will be a lot faster.
Thank you!
How is it compared to r888r on straight line traction?
