What's the point in testing tyres with different speed rating and or different load index? That test is useless. Also because you don't give the info, it can only be seen in close up photos. One tyre, the same model, year, factory, size but with different speed rating and load index, will behave differently. I'm sure you know that.

I think the internet loves the R888r more so for roll racing then its track performance. For whatever reason, it seems to be able to hook big HP cars nearly as well as a drag radial from a roll, but still have the sidewall stiffness to be stable at speed, handle half decent, and have more tread life then a drag radial on the street.
this is it exactly. no one who knows will willing run an 888 on track. they should have tested the nitto nt01 in this test instead of an r888r as that is an excellent dry weather track tire.
@JR5646 I really agree with what you're saying I'd say it's a good overall tire, like it seems to do a little bit of everything and i like it. Good for rolling races, decent in corners and has more durability than a drag radial

R888R are popular with high horsepower cars (over 600hp) specially supra, twin turbo lambo/vipers & most of them have 1000HP minimum. R888R are also much stable at high speeds compared to Drag Radials & R888R can take a corner decently vs DR just forget about corners lol.
@@ttiization i know this is an old comment but they hook like a drag radial for digs and rolls and have much more high speed stability and cornering ability than a drag radial so that's their main use
I had a 2018 and 2020 Camaro SS 1LE and sold them to move back to Europe in 2022. Man, do I miss the cars and those sweet GY F1 SC3 tires. I tried Michelin PS4S for road driving and I took them back after 1 week, to replace them with the Goodyear. What a car and tire package! Best sports car under $45k, hands down!
@@alessandrofilippini6598 Yes. Supercar 3 is an Extreme Performance Summer. Potenza Sport is a Max Performance Summer. Extreme Performance has more dry grip but gives up some wet grip, NVH, and wear longevity to get it. The Max Performance category is the most well rounded street tire. Extreme Performance are typically used for autocross events or as track tires that can still be used on the road.

@@superbecx nice to hear. I was actually eyeing up the Goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 5's as the next tyre I'd use. Seems to be 85-90% of a Michelin PS4S at considerably less cost. I haven't been able to find a store here in Australia that stocks the F1 Supersports for the tyre sizes for the M4 unfortunately
One of the reasons, why R888R are so popular is their availability in smaller sizes. There is maybe one other semi-slick available in 14 - 16" size, which is Nankang AR-1. Nobody else makes small size performance tires.
Thanks! I have a cayman GTS. I’ve always had a “ sporty” daily car ( GTI or Golf R ) and a beater sports car ( alfas , boxster) but this GTS is a different animal. Blah blah. Point is tyres matter and it’s not cheap to play so this video , clear , direct and consistent really speaks to me.
Mate, I haven't visited your channel for about a year or so, but I once again note that you are just about the best, most professional, most thorough, most watchable of any reviewer of anything on the internet. Hats off!
i feel the r888 is loved because most people run it on older / lighter cars than your camaro? it was the race tire of the spec e30 cup when i debuted and on that car it was a fantastic feeling tired, so communicative in what it was going to do.,
I commented a few years back, about North American tires. You answered my question the best you could but responded to that It's a little tough for you to break into the US market. I am glad you did, welcome to Murika! P.S. sad though, soon you will not be able to respond to comments anymore.
Just slapped some SC3's on my C5 Corvette FRC and did a two-day DE at Mid-Ohio. These Goodyears rule. Nobody is talking about them and for sure they are a good intermediate/advanced-skill track tire. If you want to just show up, rip it up at the track, and then drive home, SC3's and/or 3R's are what you want. Haven't driven the SC3's in the wet yet but hopefully I won't need to. They wear great, communicate on the track, and the grip is way better than what I've used before. Definitely hit up TireRack and see if they make them in your car sizes. These tires really need more press than what they're getting, seriously underrated track rubber.
Just did another DE this past weekend on the SC3's at VIR. The Song Remains The Same. My instructor had a GT3RS on Hoosier slicks and said "Damn, this car has grip for days!". Honestly these are just amazing tires and if you can get them and enjoy doing HPDE's you really owe it to yourself to try them!
Also, while you're in the US you should try out more of the "extreme performance" tires. There are a whole class of autocross focused tires such as the RE71R, A052, RT660, and Supercar 3 to name a few. Most of them are targeted around 200-240 UTQG and their goal is to provide the most possible grip while still being SCCA legal for certain classes. They're more hardcore than the PS4S but still usable on the road.
@@tyrereviews looking forward to it! I was definitely going to buy the PS4S for a 718 GT4 but after your video I'm now giving the Eagle Supercar 3s a second look. Your testing and feedback is much appreciated.
In Europe, we don't pay attention to tread wear rating because each manufacturer can set thier rating as they please.. Treadwear 100 on a goodyear isn't the same as 100 on a michelin. And that's a fact.
Perfect explanation and yes I know the Goodyear was built for the Camaro but an explanation as to why it is built for this car was what I needed. Thumbs up and subcribeded!!!
I was going to say, "Thumbs up for the beautiful SS 1LE," but the video was really great content. In fact, I was on the fence about changing from the Supercar 3 to the 4S. I like the better wet perf, quieter ride, and greater treadlife of the 4s. However, after watching this vid, and discovering that a set of 4Ss is almost 50% more than the SC3s for my 1LE, I've decided to stick with the SC3. Thanks for the objective comparison that really talked about the things that are important in a street/track car tire.
Not sure you actually answered the question but looking back at the result table, the tyres became progressively quicker as the tread wear rate increased. The odd one out was the Toyo which is simply not such a good tyre but still slightly 'grippier' than the Sport 4S. So in conclusion, in most cases yes, Higher Wear does = More Grip.
The R888R were great a couple years ago but now, there are much better choices out there. Now it's just what I would call a scene tire. You're most likely going to see a tire like this at car shows rather than the track nowadays. It's right up there with the Firehawk Indy 500 or the Bridgestone RE003 in other countries. The scene is just obsessed with these tires.
I have to ask, what exactly do you think is wrong with the RE003? In my experience it has slightly worse wet grip, comfort and road noiss than a PS4s, but it has better feedback and identical if not better dry grip and it's available in many more sizes for usually less than half the price
@@atomickoala62 It's an old tire at this point that there WERE better tires to be had for a similar price point. One of them being the Yokohama Apex V601. In fact, pre-covid and during, the V601s were even cheaper. The RE003 is so old that the successor, the RE004s, are out. At the time of writing, there were tires in the same price bracket, and even less, that were better options than the RE003. But since we're in a post-covid world now, they are now a "not too bad" tire to buy as the other better tires have gone up in price. Although I'd still buy the Apex V601 over the RE003 but that's just my preference in tires.
Yet another great test and video!!! I say this with 100% admiration that you Jonathan have the best job in the world, travel, fast cars, data analysis and engineering detail critique with media and technology at your fingers tips, the stuff of dreams. That said the more I see of your content and have read over the past couple of years and with some personal experience, I have to say I really believe in Goodyear products now and going forward, the performance they offer in all tests and conditions at their price point they are the almost certainly impossible to beat at the moment. Michelin should be worried, they have genuine competition and its strong in all areas.
Goodyear have certainly stepped up, but has have Conti, as are Pirelli and Bridgestone! Lets see what Michelin bring with the next generation though, never count them out :)
I believe the connect is simply a sensor kit with an adhered sensor mounting point. So it shouldn't perform any different than an equivalent Cup 2, just provide data logging abilities to a regular driver.
I couldn't agree more with you on the R888R. I had them fitted to my mk1 Focus Rs running 380bhp. They kind of put the power down well but the road noise lead to me only doing 300 miles with them and I replaced them with the Cup 2's just last week. Once they're warm they're such a good tyre! I'd like to say you're channel and content has lead me to buy some really good tyres for my mk3 Focus Rs. I had Continental TS860s fitted for the winter and what a tyre. I've just took them off and put Goodyear Super Sports on for the summer and another excellent choice. Keep up the great work!
I feel you on the r888r, I recently ran a set on my R32 skyline gtst at the track and it was a little hairy. It did dive in with confidence but then I would get a slight over steer on braking and then on throttle it would sometimes twitch to over steer requiring a quick correction. I would try other 100s before i came back to them
Regarding the 888R, I think it used to be held in higher regard due to being an old carcass that goes back something like a decade or more. It and the NT01 were pretty good wearing track tires, and while I think ultimate feel, grip and laptime have drastically dropped since those tires debuted, they can still be a viable option due to their longevity. Hankook RS4 strikes me as one of the street tires that takes that philosophy in the current era.
I love the RS4! With my terrible skills. They have been wonderful. They take a beating and wear really well on lapping. The only downside. Not very good in the rain.
I’ve got supercar 3s on my mustang and I love them and have no complaints, even with main road driving they are comfortable and the road noise isn’t too bad.
Great tire reviews! You mentioned in previous videos that You were impressed by Hankook. I hope that you will review more in upcoming videos, especially the Hankook Ventus Evo 2.
Nice test and thank you for doing this. For best track performance Goodyear recommended f/r cold pressures for Supercar 3R = 26 psi/26 psi with target hot pressures f and r of 32-35 psi. Supercar 3 cold pressures f/r = 28 psi/28 psi with target hot pressures of 35 - 37 psi front and 37 - 39 psi rear. By the way, and apologies if this has already been mentioned. The "zed zed" 1LE is actually an SS 1LE with a naturally aspirated 6.2L engine rated at 455HP/455TQ. And not the higher performance supercharged ZL1 1LE which is rated at 650HP/650TQ. Many differences between SS 1LE and ZL1 1LE. Finally, the Supercar 3 is the OEM tire developed with Goodyear for the SS 1LE. Whereas the Supercar 3R is the OEM ZL1 1LE tire.
Another great video i watch all of your videos. I just want to add a comment on the r888r. The videos i have watched they arent buying it for how it handles but for how well it gives acceleration traction from a dead stop for street cars with over 600hp.
There’s been resounding agreement that the A052 is better but the RE71R feels better. You should try them yourself though. Looking forward to the new RE71RS coming to the US
Great review. I have a 19 SS 1LE and the SC3's are great. They aren't the best daily tire though even though you can daily with them, you just have to drive very conservatively with them in rain and cold weather. I just bought some Michelin PSS tires (haven't installed them yet) to try and get better life and a better rain/cold weather tire than the SC3 as I DD my car in the southeastern United States. I've got about 12,200K on my SC3's right now, and they are very worn especially in the rear. They still grip pretty well, but one thing the GEN6 Camaros do well is they don't have a tramlining issue even with large, sticky tires, but went the SC3's start to get pretty worn they will start to tramline some. Hopefully I won't regret going from the SC3's to the PSS's. I thought maybe a Pilot Super Sport on a Camaro Super Sport seemed like a good idea.... Maybe?
I’m so pleased you did this review, especially since you drove the SS 1LE for the test...same car I own. The Goodyear SC3’s are the OE tires for both the SS 1LE and ZL1, while the SC3R’s are for the ZL1 1LE’s. While your test showed a slight time disadvantage of the SC3 to the PS2’s, they’re a hell of a lot cheaper and last longer. Thus, they are the best bargain for street/track use, like an SS 1LE, and I continue to stick with them. If I get the itch to spend more money, I may give the SC3R’s a try now that they are available for the OE 20” wheels.
Having the chance to spend weekends at different tracks both driving and instructing, I agree whole heartedly with your evaluations of the 4S, SC3, and PSC2. Haven't had a chance to drive the SC3R, yet. Love the SC3, though. I've driven it on Ferrari 488GTBs, Porsche GT3RS, Shelby GT500, and Dodge Charger Hellcat WB
Interesting comments on R888R. I agree. Unfortunately I have very limited options for my rear 245/45-16. After two sets of 888r, I’m going back to the older Toyo RA-1 for 2021. Your observation on grip is consistent with mine. They are spent after several sessions and become less grippy before they wear out. The last time I ran RA-1s, my fastest laps happen just as they started to chord. Hopefully that behavior is still there. I’ll know by September.
Delighted to see Goodyear back with a strong tyre game, it can only mean good things to the consumer. Is there a European equivalent tyre? Also, would love to see some budget track tyre reviews. I hear a lot about nankang ar-1s but not sure is that because the user is being paid.
@@joshlismore when it comes to nankang, a LOT of the users are being paid to drive with them and promote them. not to take anything away from the tires as I'm sure some of them are decent, but it's hard to know how they really perform until a channel like this tests them in a comparison.
@J B i used to run cup2 on my m2 and caused me a crash on a greasy colder day. Changed to goodyear supersport and i am amazed how better they are on the streets. However cup2 is good on track even compared to the hankook slicks i used to run.
This guy is always spot on! While we were running our McLaren 570S at one of our track days we ran into a regular at the track with his Corvette Z06 who swore the best track tire was the F1 3R. We had already used the stock Pirellis that came with the car, R888R and the SC2 tires all previously at the track. Since that time we have continued using the F1 3R tires as they are not only perform great on the track (in our opinion) but last as long or longer than the SC2 which we previously thought was the best track tire for us. And the F1 3R is less costly than the SC2 which is a bonus! The R888R tires were junk and burned up in chunks at the track. I thought we were the only ones that didn’t love them until I saw this video.
Excellent review. I'm surprised you didn't have issues with the 4S loosing grip after about 15 minutes. For me, that's the main reason to get a more track focused tire; consistency.
Yes! So much yes. I switched my Tesla Model 3 Performance to Michelin 4S tires due to reviews and their reputation. I was extremely surprised by how poor the steering feel was. Grip was excellent but the really light and almost jittery feel constantly eroded my confidence in them and they had none of the planted feel that great tires should provide. Thank you for giving me a new tire to switch to (Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3). This is now my favorite channel.
I'd always heard that one tire manufacturer's treadwear rating isn't necessarily equal to another tire manufacturer's treadwear rating. Basically that there are no official standards for treadwear ratings. I'll be looking forward to your road test for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3! I'm in Seattle and I've currently got PS4S but am curious how the Eagle F1S3 performs in the wet.
Love the video! To sum up the R888R coming from a c7 z06 owner that does track days and street fun -nothing grips better cold on the street than the r888R and still lets you enjoy the track. It’s not the fastest but it’s the best daily driver tire for hard use cars that want to do it all on one tire.
Honestly was going to get a set of Toyo's for tracking my Focus ST, so thank you for saving me from that decision! Internet hype is misleading more often than not.
This info was exactly what I needed. My Nitto NT01s, which I really liked, were done in by my last track day (2008 Corvette Z06). The NT01s have been on backorder for over a year, so I had to look at other options. Choices for my tire sizes are very limited. It had to be something that performs well/consistently on the track, not wear out crazy fast, and that I could be happy with on the street too. Based upon your findings and comments, the choice was easy. I'll have a fresh set of the Supercar 3s in a bit over a week. Thanks so much for the helpful video. Well done!
The tread pattern on the ToyoR888R is not conducive for corner grip hence why it's inferior however its longitudinal grip is apparently excellent according to drag racers...
I just swapped my Cup 2's that came on my 2022 GT4 for the Supercar 3's. Talk about a transformation, WOW!!!!! The grip is equal to the Cup 2's on the street, but WOW they make the chassis soooo much more confident inspiring. The Cup 2's has A LOT of sidewall flex and makes the whole car move around A LOT, almost like you are on rubber bushings. Moving to the Supercar 3's is like going from rubber sub-frame bushings to hard mounting points, it's that transformative. Also, I only have 120 miles on them so far, so they are still in their break-in mode. They will get even sharper as the tread wears down a little after about 1K miles. I will never go back to Cup 2's
Glad you're liking them! Please stick a review on www.tire-reviews.com/submit.htm?match=Goodyear-Eagle-F1-SuperCar-3---Tire-Reviews-and-Tests so others can understand how great they are
My understanding is that the Supercar 3 was literally developed for the 1le, and 3r for the ZL1 1LE. It’s a bit compromised in the wet, I should say I’ve never driven a high performance 305 before this car, so I don’t have a great frame of reference, but I’ve never felt it was unsafe on my 19 1LE. I’ve literally been waiting for this test, thanks.
Some tires can be more or less suitable for car's suspension geometry, mass and so on. That's why some producers have the same model with homologation for different car brands, because tires were co-developed with the car.
On the GY SSR vid I had asked if you would get a chance to review the SC3 tires so I can compare PS4S for my ZL1, you said soon, and here we are! Great stuff looking forward to see the full review! But from what you said here, and what I like to feel when driving, it seems I'll be sticking to SC3 and maybe considering the R! I'm surprised how close the SC3 is to the Cup2.
In my opinion, the R888R is a tyre built and designed for small, lightweight cars. It is the track tyre available in small sizes that other manufacturers don't do anymore, like 205/50 R15 on my '91 Alfa. I am not too surprised with the result for the Toyo, but I must admit that they perform incredibly well on under 1Ton cars.
That's so crazy that the toyo was that bad. Must just be a track thing. I have it on my c6 Z and I'm 527whp and it hooks amazing! I love them. So its weird to see, either way great review! These are all great tires for sure.
I run them on my c7z. And they handle great. I guess it depends on driver and car. I’ve cut my lap times 2 secs on most tracks. And I’ve ran cup 2 tires and Nt01’s. The NT01’s are great tires to. But when temperatures over 210. It starts to get alittle slippery.
I had a similar experience with the R888R, the internet (well people I know in real life) blamed me for the unimpressive laptimes compared to other supposedly slower tires due to improper tire pressure.
Toyo has a lavish marketing budget towards certain "influencers". Because social media personality X has r888r's(that they didn't pay for themselves) on their car it must be the greatest tyre in the world.
Generally speaking yes (at least in the performance tire category). But also the tread wear cannot be compared or used as a basis for lap time or grip between tire models or manufacturers. Basically a loose guideline more than anything.
Thanks Jon for another tremendously useful and informative tire comparison. I especially like your detailed subjective comparisons, as your preferences seem to closely match mine. I have the PS4S on my 370Z and it's so good to see somebody who has such a perspicuous insight into the handling characteristics of the tire elucidating it for the rest of us. Your observations and opinions have greatly informed my decision on the next tires that I'll buy for my car.
@@tyrereviews I remember how much I wanted one of those when they came out in the early 2000s. It was so good to see the Z car being resurrected as a proper sports car; with lower weight, more power, a stiffer chassis and drop-dead good looks.
In my very limited use of high performance road tires, I've found Goodyears to generally have alert/fast turn-in with heavier steering feel while Michelins have a lighter feel but more natural/relaxed driving characteristics.
The 4s is the best street tire with decent tread. What impress me most of the 4s is their solid dry grip even at 50-60% tread life. My last two sets last me 20k/25k miles on a 4400lb SUV
I've used those and the new Falken rt660. I was actually fastest on the new falken. At the last event I was at lots of people talking about the new Falken. It's tight between the ao52. I'd probably say a052 overall grip and maybe .5 second over 2 minute course. I noticed the rt660 was slightly better over all though. I'm genuinely surprised and I think we'll all be talking about the new Falken in 6 months
@@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast NT01 would be another solid contender. I'm not saying it's faster for sure, but at the price, it's a total bargain. It's about 2s slower than a proper race tires at local tracks in NorCal. NT01 is quite noisy when driven on the road though, and it screams like a road tire when you push it at the limit.
@@Jonasz314 I love the nt01 but I can't use it cause the treadwear rating isn't 200 for the classes I race in. Totally agree though for track days probably one of the best tire per dollar available. The nt05 is but 200 that's a shit tire.

Finally ran Supercar 3R on my C7 Corvette Grand Sport, they're amazing. Started slow as they need some heat in them then within 3 laps up to full grip. Fantastic lateral grip, about 1.3 G max consistently, and 1.4 G of braking. I'd compare them to Hoosier R7, the grip is that good. They are just awesome! Thanks for your review pointing me to them.
Great video. There must be a connection between US supercar, supercar 3 and supercar 3r and the EU supersport, supersport r and supersport RS. Tread wear and just the look of them indicate they are closely related.
Excellent point - we get the GY F1 R and RS in Aussie - I've been trying to make the connection - I use the RS in summer and R in the colder wetter months - weather extremes much less in Oz than in Europe and NA.
But why, when it comes to track driving FWD is wrong wheel drive. He managed to get understeer already. With a FWD review it would be 27 flavors of understeer. P.S. I found understeer on Cup 2s surprising, as I hardly ever get it on my M2. But not so many tight corners on Nordschleife, so maybe that's the difference.
@@marcink1755 wouldn't it make more sense to test on FWD then? The front wheels have to do everything on a FWD, therefore there's more stress on the front tires. What better way to test the limits of a tire?
What was your honest opinion of that track. I usually go to mid Ohio, Nelson, and pitt race once or twice a month. Obviously we are excluding the facilities at Nelson.
@@M3NACE4535 I loved Nelson, we had it to ourselves so the garages were fine, the owners great guys, and the lap... well I'd like it if there was a little more runoff before the walls and the trees, but it was definitely fun for a test!

I would like to add my vote for that, too, given the use of these for a number of track activities, some of which is governed by sanctioning body rules. I have used several of the suggested tires and have some likes. It will be interesting to see what you come up with.
The internet loves the R888R because it looks cool on "the 'gram." Has the concept car look and decent performance for showing off that you once drove your car near a track.

Let me know how you find the 3R :D
R888R are popular with high horsepower cars (over 600hp) specially supra, twin turbo lambo/vipers & most of them have 1000HP minimum. R888R are also much stable at high speeds compared to Drag Radials & R888R can take a corner decently vs DR just forget about corners lol.
@@wd8005 But there are better options on the market
@@wd8005 ....They also need heat more than the others. Like north of 190° heat to really grip. Not sure he got them there.
Another mega video mate, could watch your stuff all day... The Supercar 3 sounds spot on, shame we can't get them in the UK 😂👌🏁
Ah, so they're North American only? I was a bit confused as to where they fit in compared to the SuperSport and SuperSportRS.
I think SC3 like SSR, tbc
So the Super Car 3 are in a higher range than for example bridgestone potenza sport?
@@alessandrofilippini6598 Yes. Supercar 3 is an Extreme Performance Summer. Potenza Sport is a Max Performance Summer. Extreme Performance has more dry grip but gives up some wet grip, NVH, and wear longevity to get it. The Max Performance category is the most well rounded street tire. Extreme Performance are typically used for autocross events or as track tires that can still be used on the road.

I haven't been able to find a store here in Australia that stocks the F1 Supersports for the tyre sizes for the M4 unfortunately
My RE71R's with 200 TW were amazing. The grippiest tires I've ever felt. They're heavy, but it's because they're so stiff and solid for cornering.
One of the reasons, why R888R are so popular is their availability in smaller sizes. There is maybe one other semi-slick available in 14 - 16" size, which is Nankang AR-1. Nobody else makes small size performance tires.
you nailed it
I was going to say because it looks boxy and super meaty thus all the highend widebody builds use the tire for looks.

I commented a few years back, about North American tires. You answered my question the best you could but responded to that It's a little tough for you to break into the US market. I am glad you did, welcome to Murika! P.S. sad though, soon you will not be able to respond to comments anymore.
Why no replying?! Hopefully not another new rule
@@tyrereviews what I meant was as the channel grows, it will become impractical. And this channel is destined for greatness
This I hope to do :D

"Tire"
In Europe, we don't pay attention to tread wear rating because each manufacturer can set thier rating as they please.. Treadwear 100 on a goodyear isn't the same as 100 on a michelin. And that's a fact.
That's the same in the US as well.
That's a great idea for a test - a scene specific test, with one actual good tyre :)

Please test Cup2 vs Cup2 Connect! No tests online and they are now available in lots of sizes in parallel with the org Cup2! Great review!
I'm also extremely curios about this tire. I have Cup 2's now and love them. The higher treadwear and connect system are both very attractive.
I believe the connect is simply a sensor kit with an adhered sensor mounting point. So it shouldn't perform any different than an equivalent Cup 2, just provide data logging abilities to a regular driver.
@@ButterNutter37 it has a much higher treadwear rating of 240 vs cup 2 180. Also slightly different compound.

100% agree with you about R888R
Good info on a number of tyres, if you get some time it would be awesome if you could leave some reviews on www.tyrereviews.com :)
I'll have to add that to the list of things to test!
I love the RS4! With my terrible skills. They have been wonderful. They take a beating and wear really well on lapping. The only downside. Not very good in the rain.
I totally agree, we have an SS 1LE and the supercar 3’s are amazing. We’ve had decent tread life as well.

Maybe?
Good info, if you get some time it would be awesome if you could leave a review on www.tyrereviews.com :)
Good info, if you get some time it would be awesome if you could leave a review on www.tyrereviews.com :)
Having the chance to spend weekends at different tracks both driving and instructing, I agree whole heartedly with your evaluations of the 4S, SC3, and PSC2. Haven't had a chance to drive the SC3R, yet.

Get on the 3R ASAP, it's epic!

@@joshlismore when it comes to nankang, a LOT of the users are being paid to drive with them and promote them. not to take anything away from the tires as I'm sure some of them are decent, but it's hard to know how they really perform until a channel like this tests them in a comparison.

Awesome info :D If you get some time please put a review on www.tyrereviews.com :)

Excellent review. I'm surprised you didn't have issues with the 4S loosing grip after about 15 minutes. For me, that's the main reason to get a more track focused tire; consistency.
We didn't run for that long, but yeah they usually do 3 laps max
Tesla tune the heck out of their tyres for steering speed, best to stick with OE for now for that brand
I'd always heard that one tire manufacturer's treadwear rating isn't necessarily equal to another tire manufacturer's treadwear rating. Basically that there are no official standards for treadwear ratings.

Many of your past testing was done in front wheel drives.... it’d be interesting to test the same tires on both front and rear drives
I'd love to have seen a Nankang AR1 in the test. Hopefully in a future comparison
That’s my home track! Dang idk why I think it’s so cool you tested there.
It's a freaking scary place lol
That's so crazy that the toyo was that bad. Must just be a track thing. I have it on my c6 Z and I'm 527whp and it hooks amazing! I love them. So its weird to see, either way great review! These are all great tires for sure.
Thanks. I've never managed to get on with the R888* laterally, they seem to be great in a straight line though
They must need some weird ass pressures that no other tyres can use
I used to have a 350z!
That seems to be my experience too
@@tyrereviews That is because GY uses stiffer sidewalls. I LOVE the feel of GY over Michelin (which favor soft sidewalls).
The 4s is the best street tire with decent tread. What impress me most of the 4s is their solid dry grip even at 50-60% tread life. My last two sets last me 20k/25k miles on a 4400lb SUV
Put the Supercar 3 and 3R against the latest and best from Yokohama Advan and Bridgestone 052s and RE 71 RS.
@@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast Of course, some race classes have restriction and you use what you can. NT05 is really bad, I know.
@@ClaytonYatescarenthusiast FOr 200TW Time Attack/AutoX, it seems the A052 (if you can get them) are slightly better cold and VERY hot compared the the 660, and roughly similar warm. The problem I've had with A052 is availability.
I'll try and find out
@@tyrereviews the problem is they are hideously expensive and only available in a few weird sizes to suit specific cars
Loved reading the articles on the site and now loving the YT content.
Thanks Tyre Reviews 👍
Glad you like them!
I would love you to test these tyres on a FWD car too! 😊
Maybe one day!
Yes. So much agree!!
Was about to post this request as well !!
Wow. I did not expect ever to see the track in my backyard in your video. Wish I could have joined you for some pointers.
What a place to live!
Great vid!
Would love to see a vid that covers track focused tyres for UK/EU too (18"+).
Coming soon!
I really love this track oriented tyre tests! Just beautiful!
Us too!
Thanks for the State side review and hope to see more of them. Great review! There are comments about doing a test of 200 TW tires, with suggested tires.
Running the Goodyear SC3 and its like magic on the track. Porsche 997 Turbo.
**UPDATE** I ran my first set of Toyo R888 on a track Miata. Amazing tire for 3 laps at Sonoma Raceway. But then it felt as if it lost its stick abilities. Adjusted pressures for next session and no significant differences. I'm done with the Toyos.
Finally a semi slick tyre review 😁
The R888R only works if stretched on the rim with 15 degrees of negative camber...at all 4 corners.
