  • We give our honest feedback on the top 5 fastest 200 treadwear tires that our shop and our clients have been running.
    The tires featured will be the Falken Azenis RT660, Nankang Sportnex CR-S, Nexen N'Fera Sport R, Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS, and Yokohama Advan A052.
    This feedback is mainly based on 20-30 minute sessions for high performance driving events, open track days, time attack and sprint racing. However, the feedback will be somewhat similar for autocross clients.

    I have the nexen sport R and my gawd! The grip is amazing! I did four 20 min sessions consecutively and it held all the way through. Autocross and roadcourse racing handles amazing. Best bang for buck! Will be getting me another set once my current set need replacing. Btw Mike is amazing. Best customer service I have ever dealt with. He answered my questions and didnt treat me like a nobody like other shops/stores I dealt with when i was in the market. You wont be disappointed.

    Good summary.
    I've been driving on RE71RS for hillclimbs and track days, after a few years on Hoosier A7 and Yokohama A050, and your comments align with what I've experienced, especially the outer shoulder wearing so fast.
    I'll be buying a set of CRS next to compare.

    • @TPMparts
      @TPMparts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think an A052 would also fit your needs for hill climb. The CRS is right there on pace, however it is just slightly behind. If you are looking for a longer distance tire the CRS has a bit more heat capacity and will fade less during the run.

    I'm interested in the Nexen but have to drive to and from the track in the rain. I'm hoping somebody can give me an idea of how bad it really is in the rain. I don't think I would ever run these seriously on a track in the wet, so I'm not worried about their wet track performance; I'm just worried about hydroplaning on the way home. I've been doing a ton of research for my new setup and your videos are the best; most comprehensive, insightful, relevant. I'm very appreciative!

I do about 3-4 track days a year (single days). The tyres would be going on 19" rims 245 or 255 front, and 275 or 285 rear. Thanks :)

    Thoughts on autocross tire for heavy, camber limited AWD? (ie Focus RS)
    I have used the A052 the past couple of seasons, but the outside edge wears quickly due to lack of camber.
    I'm thinking RE71RS next year due to stiffer sidewall. I don't know anyone locally running the Sport R.

    • @danielchavez5807
      @danielchavez5807 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a fellow Focus RS autocrosser, I am leaning towards the RE71RS right now as well. HOWEVER, I do run in STU with KW Clubsports with about -3° of camber in the front and -2° in the rear. I've been running the CR-S's for a while now, and they are taking longer and longer to heat up during my sessions. So much so that they never really come up to optimal temperature during my 4 timed runs, which is why I'm switching. I think regardless of whatever tire you choose to go with, you're going to chew up the outer tread pretty quickly. That's what happened when I was running the OG RE71R with no camber adjustability. I was running the KW DDC coilovers before the Clubsports, and even with -1.7° up front from the slight drop, I was chewing through the outer treads. That's why I switched coilovers. This car is just too front heavy, so it'll destroy the outside of any tire without proper camber up front. If I were you, I'd at least install camber and toe arms in the rear to rotate and make them last as long as possible.

    • @TPMparts
      @TPMparts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends what you are looking to achieve. The 295 will get more heat capacity, peak lateral grip and longevity out of the tire. If you are looking for more response and feedback out of the tire you will probably find the 265 does better on the 10.5. @@eric.frasch the v730 has great longevity and is perfect for a daily so you can have a tire that can handle anything you can throw at it. For the price, performance and longevity it is one hell of a bath and personally I like it more than the rt660 for that. It isn’t loud on the road but it does sacrifice wet performance. Sidewall is very stiff so it responds quickly. I’m running a set for this year and my buddy had a set last year and he planing to get another set. I don’t know if they are the fastest but I didn’t have trouble keeping up with the RT660s and RE71rs tires in my class, actually I have had “fastest in class” twice this year. It might be more relevant to drag radials vs track tires.

      Tires can also steer... what counts here would be lap time comparison on exact vehicle/setup

      More interested in street tires for doing dig racing while being a daily driver. I can't find any channel that test traction but instead lap times.

      @@JonR35 What does drag racing benefit from? Softer and bigger sidewall and really soft and sticky rubber. That's about it. The delta run to run is going to be as high as the difference between the tires really as most folks are simply relying upon the car computer to do the launch/drive the car for them anyway. If it really matters to you for some reason then run the smallest rim you can that clears your brakes, the biggest sidewall you can fit, softest compound you can find and the lowest safe pressure. That's about it as drag tire attributes don't pair well with what makes a good overall tire for the street that handles, accelerates and brakes well. Especially when we're literally talking about maybe 2/10ths of a difference in the 60ft times between any tires within similar category

      Bridgestone will always be my choice.
