The Honor Magic V3 - the world's thinnest foldable - is available in China, and with a global launch set for later this year it will compete head-on with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. While I don't have a Mix Fold 4, I compare Honor's thin foldale with the Z Fold 6 and Vivo X Fold 3, and talk through some highlights and first impressions ahead of my review when I get the device in.

How does Samsung continue to survive? time to bycot samsung until their standards improve?
They survive because they produce the best software and the top tier phones. Honor is new and unreliable in our market. If you don't like Samsung, simply buy and Honor and Quit crying.

V3 supports stylus too. Samsung has fallen behind the competitors.
My Fold 5 works with a stylus. It's included with the OEM case.
@modelcitizen1977 nah, honor magic v2 and v3 supports pen on both front and inner screen. it doesn't have edge writing issues too like on the fold inner screen

Hmm I somewhat disagree. It's still a nice looking phone. The only thing I would call a joke on it is the weak camera specs.
Some people dont like the camera bump of the honor, seen on other videos. But i really do like the hexagon effect.
I can’t wait to get it! I am still undecided though to see any price and offers as you can get the v2 for £999 atm. very undecided but considering all the upgrades and the software updates it might be worth to wait for this and spend more.

Personally I want the Vivo X3 fold pro but you can't get it that well outside of china so either I'd have to get a fold or the v2
@@StarSoulMaci would choose both Samsung and honor over vivo... Samsung if you want the best brand and honor if you want the beefy specs.. I consider Samsung as an iPhone, that even with less specs, you know what you get and it works..
I really appreciate your work and effort you are putting in the videos if possible I would request you to please do a dedicated in-depth video on the software of these foldable phones so that one can decide what to buy.

The Honor Magic V3 is the only new foldable that allows using a pen on the front and inner screen.
Had to go with it over the Vivo X3 Pro and the Mix Fold 4 for this reason, but the others are also really great. Fold 6 is much worse than all of the above.

Given the size of the pen, it's not an argument for me. I will never carry a pen as big as that !
@@Cestpasfaux- Every person has a different usecase but for me I like the large pen a lot since it's easier to write with and I usually keep it in my always carry small shoulder bag.
I hope they do make a smaller version for people who prefer that, would be great.

Otherwise, I have my e-ink 10" tablet with is much more confortable, with a proper pen
wow this blows Fold6 out of the water; what with the ridiculous 'upgrades' to Fold6 this year coupled with a shameful price increase, I think if i buy a foldable this year, it definitely won't be Fold6.

The V3 is my second favorite behind the Milx Fold 4
Mix fold4 crease is so bad.
Magic V3 has pen support on both screens,both screens are way brighter,it's thinner, lighter,camera sensors are bigger and the crease on V3 is way smaller.
Mix fold4 has slightly higher resolution of 418ppi vs 402ppi on magic V3 .
Everything else is the same .
Design is a case of personal taste.
All in all V3 is better .
I would say honor, vivo, oppo, mix, zfold maybe. Honor is for sure top. Mix and fold I'm not sure maybe z fold is better but ok. And opponis awesome too . Supports stylus too

I guess the Mix Fold so far just because I prefer bigger screens, but that could change after more thorough testing. Appreciate the comment! Basil

that fold 6 is beautifull
Thank you so much for showing those few seconds of b-roll footage that I haven't been able to find anywhere else (software fluidity, AOD style, etc). Pretty much sold on attempting to bring this phone into the US now. Unless the Xiaomi also has a similar AOD and is about the same price.
Glad it was helpful! I didn't have long at all with the phone at all so am glad whatever b-roll I managed to capture helped. I'd hold off for a Western release of the Magic V3, expected around September I'm guessing. That way, you'll get native Google services and notifications won't be delayed (WhatsApp etc) which is the case with many China-ROM phones. Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know, hope that helps if not :) Basil

I ordered the Mix Fold 4 Chinese Version for Canada. It was so hard to decide between Honor V3

@@Rajat9728 those where my pics too. Well Vivo has some things that Mix Fold 4 doesn't have but Xiaomi is paying really close attention to customers and improving their software. So improvements will be coming fast to their software and new features etc.
And the screen is slightly bigger in the Mix Fold 4.
Including reverse charging. So I'm trying to maximize getting in return for what I am paying.
Yes the battery is 50mA smaller than Vivo Fold 3 but that's OK.
Magic V3 has pen support on both screens, battery is marginally bigger,both screens are way brighter,it's thinner, lighter,camera sensors are bigger and the crease on V3 is way way smaller than on mix fold 4 .

@@bartsimpson7424 I think you are confuse, the pen doesn't comes with the phone is extra money. The screen of the Xiaomi Mix4 is 3,000nits and Honor MagicV3 is 1,800nits. Screen is bigger is the Mix Fold 4, resolutions is better in Mix Fold 4 and is the only phone with quad camera setup. And Mix Fold 4 has 8K camera and Honor V3 only 4K.
You get more for your money with Xiaomi Mix Fold 4.
which one is your best pick from Fold6, Magic V3, Vivo Fold 3 Pro, Mix Fold 4 considering camera, battery, software, and overall design and body?
Design, my favourite is the Mix Fold 4 on first impression. I like the Honor Magic V3 a lot, and actually prefer its matte frame for grip when opening and closing it. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4's slightly larger cover screen and identical weight just gives it the edge for me as I like big phones. The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro's cover screen is taller and thinner, so is my least favourite, but Vivo's camera and battery, plus the under-display fingerprint scanners are class-leading. Performance and software - I've only used Vivo as my main phone - after only an hour with the Honor Magic V3 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 I wouldn't comment on those until I had more time with them, but hopefully I'll get a review unit soon. Honor is basically Huawei but with Google integration, so you will get Huawei reliability out of Honor Magic, own a couple vivo midrange before, doesnt last me very long, Huawei midrange last me years so im looking forward to their top of the line range like Magic V3 here

That hole in the inner screen doesn't do it any favors. That stopped me and some issues with camera quality, etc etc... on the V2

Battery and camera, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro edges ahead on paper, plus the under-display fingerprint scanners. I do prefer the feel of the Magic V3, it's slimmer and more elegant. But as I only used the V3 for under a short time, it's too early for a conclusive verdict. Basil

Thing is nothing comes close in software to samsung 😢 i wish the chinese oems invest in software too!
Issues with Huawei.
1. Buggy glitchy software. (Some apps force close)
2. The flex cable that joins the two halves of the phone breaks in less than 8 months of using daily.
3. Poor poor poor customer support

Honor is not Huawei. Also, you know nothing about a flexcable in a phone you haven't touched yet. Who needs customer support on an Android phone?

Until it launches globally, I wont be allowed to pull photos off the device they provide, so I would need to import one (hence the channel sponsorship 🥹🫠). Thinking of moving from samsung to honor. Has anyone had issues with Chinese ROM in countries like Australia, US, UK etc?
Delayed notifications and inconsistent Android Auto compatibility are the main issues. I'd hold off for the global launch if you're not okay with that. Basil

Dam this got me mad that I got z fold 6 samsung has no excuse why they give us worse battery,camera,charging they did all that n mad the phone thinner I swear if samsung keep doing it's loyal customers dirty like this I'm not buying another phone from them again
If you drop that phone, you will be glad you’re getting Samsung’s after sales support. At least until these phones launch where you live. The Fold 6 is awesome, but yes, the camera is a let down.
@tech_edit yea true, but I've also been on the other hand where samsung doesn't want to fix my display after the warranty period, even when the inner display just stopped working so now I use asurion hometec care monthly subscription n they fix my phone with no question just pay the deductible witch is cheaper I payed 100 for my zfold 4 n 25 for my s22 hopefully I won't need to find out how much it is with the z fold 6 if I had a bigger battery n faster charging I will be happy cause I'm not a big camera person but I do watch TH-cam alot

@@Rajat9728 I saw it in a TH-cam video. I don't know if it's the same hinge as the V2 but it acts the same.When you put it a certain angles it just flops backwards or forwards.
