I love that it feels like I am hanging out with friends in a shop with these videos. We get to see the jokes and fun being had rather than trying to make a serious video about cars. I don't even like German cars anymore and I still watch most of the videos you guys make. The only German car I have is an LS swapped 128i lol
The Auto Sportivo channel from England is fun too! They stuff around with Italian cars like FIATs and Alfas. Lots of cool cars like the FIAT Coupe Turbo and Alfa GTV6 sadly never came to North America.

It was one of Road & Track's 10 Best Cars For a Changed World. Finally, the V6 version was marketed from 1981 to 1986 as the GTV-6.

i sold my stage 2 mk5 GTI w/ a blown motor for $3000 grand. with all the go fast bits on it and a new clutch it was worth that easily. dude and his kid put it back together and it's back ripping up the road. well bought!
I like how as soon as the VVT spool valve got replaced, all the concerns about having no coolant are instantly dismissed and the car is "fixed" 🤣 Clearly been run without coolant is perfectly fine and there could be nothing wrong with, say a blown head gasket or warped head
@@Deutscheautoparts makes sense.. I was way more concerned about being run without coolant than a vvt adjuster Since coolant was missing, were there any visible leaks around the pump? especially if it was still the original pump..
Yeah why does everyone think a low expansion tank means no coolant in the system? There's still is a radiator all the plumbing, and a heater core worth of coolant. The expansion tank is the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Not that it shouldn't be filled to proper level, but it isn't catastrophic if it's low or just empty noobs!🤦🏻♂️
Would love to have more professionals like Paul as mechanics. Even here in Germany the mechanics working at VW have not this kind of knowledge. Love watching this kind of stuff!
Man I have a Mk7.5 GSW that i still consider to be a "new"(ish) car and it's so hard for me to wrap my head around another car of the same generation being this much of a basketcase already. Time flies!
I have a 2016 jetta 1.8 turbo as my first car. Love it so much but since it does have over 100k now the transmission is slipping and thudding a little bit.

My voswagen wheels came equilibrated with wights from dealer positioned like that 5 years ago (not weigght above weight)..... but they were well bslsnced these days no one knows how the heck to balance them properly last time they balanced them(autobox shope) they started doing a weird noise at 30kmh... 😅
@@dragospahontu it feels right all speds except for 30kmh... checked in some tire shope they say its ok but tire got deformes or something on day 1... 2 years later still the same noise... I will get a Bible balanced or something maybe their PC needs recalibration or something for this type of rim and all that noonsense.
Before i continued to watch this video, i realised what the problem maybe from what the engine codes were as my 2008 1.9tdi polo had a similar code crank angle sensor and the car would start and shut down after a couple seconds, my thoughts is the timing is out and is causing the car to shut down to save the engine
On new balancing machines there’s “smart weight” and it measures the wheel and tells you a location where you’ll only need one spot for a wheel weight rather than one on the inside and the outside it’ll find a spot for one somewhere in the middle.

I some time get low pressure warning but I already replaced the oil pump would I do the sensor next as a precaution car has ran fine for the last week since I’ve gotten the warning maybe a sensor is bad best case scenario
Damnn how can you sell your car before checking the spool valve when you get this code… so common on this engine. But really happy for you nice and easy fix. At my car it was the timing chain jumped 😢 but luckily engine is doing fine after replacing the distribution
Great video! But um, hey how would you clean a GTI carpet that has at least mildew and possibly mold from rain leaks? I haven't had the time or motivation to take out my seats and carpet because I don't really have a solid idea of what the solution is. Should I just buy new carpet and insulation? Or is it possible to get that carpet clean and usable without using crazy chemicals?

I think I am the only one who hasn't lowered a GTI. haha. I live where there are sh*t roads and just don't want the drama just for aesthetics. Does look better yes, but not practical. Its so bad I am even thinking of dropping to 17 inch rims but not sure with the Performance Pack if 17's will fit over the brakes? If I were to go to 17's and recommendation on tire size so my speedo won't be that far off? Thanks. 👍

Nice im having issues with my mk7 gti I replaced the volume button from the wheel but a couple days later I started having issues on turning on my car My stering wheel locked, brake pedals felt locked/hard and it did not let me turn the key fob to ignition on. Then the wheel unlocked but whenever I try to turn the engine on but it doesnt let me. What could be the issue?
Sounds like a resonator delete maybe? 🤔 Resonator deletes are pretty effective on these (and most sport compact turbo cars^), I think. ^ terrible idea on something NA like a Toyota 86/Scion FR-S, that will sound horrific, like a swarm of bees in a can! but NA cars win *every time* on induction noise, turbo cars can't match that no matter what intake you put on (ITBs obviously best!).
Why not use tuner lug bolts? I had to on my mk4 Jetta when I bought the Rotiform DTM wheels for it. The 5x100 bolt pattern bolt bore size was way too small for my OEM lugs. Just curious on your thought?
How does one trash their GTI so badly in just a few years? I can understand if it was an econobox like an Altima or a Corolla. These are cars that regular people will get as pure appliances. But a GTI is somewhat of an enthusiast car. And it's not like it got trashed from camping, hauling, or other hatchback activities. It's just poorly treated. Very sad to see.

Here's an idea.. You could restore this car fully or even just mechanically, and then give it away to one of your subscribers (me). I lost my gti Autobahn in February and going to school is really difficult now 😞
Tuner lugs have special sockets that are required. They can crack, or often get lost, leaving the owner with the inability to take you wheels off the car. The value of them is 0. If someone needs cone seat bolts for different wheels, just get different bolts.
Love your videos, I have a quick question for you, my 2016 polo gti needed the thermohousing replacing due to leak so I skipped the dealer £900 labour costs and did the job myself with oem part, the original part had 2 open ports(no valve) but the revised part had 1 open and 1 with valve, I was sceptical but after phoning the manufacturer before i started they said it was fine for my car and its the latest version,, all went well but I'm how finding the car gets hot very quickly, especially in the summer(uk) the top pipe is really hot and the lower pipe(directly under the top pipe next to the radiator) stays cold for along time, the fan barely kicks in now and after along time it finaly kicks in and the bottom pipe starts to warm up, the dial in cockpit stays at 90°, what are your thoughts on this as I'm tempted to strip it out again and remove the valve as like I said it wasn't in the original and the car used to run alot cooler....don't want to jellybelly my engine🤷♂️

I have a 2015 MK7 with 122K miles, had it since 75K, worst car I have ever owned. Problems after problems. Now the dsg flywheel (which I had previously replaced more than 15K ago) decided you eject itself to the transmission so yeah that is fun

It was just low, not no coolant. There were no signs of overheating. It should be good. Sorry I didn’t make that clear once we found the problem

That mk7 looks different to a mk7 GTI here in the uk. Almost as if someone took a base spec and converted it with GTI bit

My golf alltrack had that exact oil leak. It’s 100% the oil pan gasket. lol
I have a 2015 MK7 with 122K miles, had it since 75K, worst car I have ever owned. Problems after problems. Now the dsg flywheel (which I had previously replaced more than 15K ago) decided you eject itself to the transmission so yeah that is fun

Wait, what's wrong with the red tops? Is there a difference in what you're referencing between like APR Red Tops vs something like audi r8 coil packs? I ran the audi r8 red tops when I owned a mk6r
Yes the red ones I’m referring to are random aftermarket coils. They very commonly create misfires down the road.
