The Modest GTI Takes the Crown: Why the MK6 GTI Edges Out the MK5 R32 While the MK5 R32 holds a legendary status among Volkswagen enthusiasts, the unassuming MK6 GTI offers a compelling counterpoint. Let's delve into why the GTI, despite lacking the R32's iconic VR6 engine and all-wheel drive (AWD), might be the better choice for many drivers. Performance Punch: On paper, the R32 boasts a larger, naturally aspirated engine with a throatier sound. However, the MK6 GTI's 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers impressive power (often with later model years surpassing the R32's output) with less weight to lug around. This translates to quicker acceleration and a more agile driving experience. Additionally, the turbo's responsive nature eliminates the lag often associated with naturally aspirated engines. Fuel Efficiency: A significant advantage of the MK6 GTI is its fuel economy. With a smaller engine and modern engineering, the GTI sips gas compared to the thirsty VR6. This translates to significant cost savings at the pump, especially for daily drivers. Modern Appeal: The MK6 GTI boasts a more modern interior with improved ergonomics and technology. The cabin feels more comfortable and user-friendly compared to the slightly dated feel of the MK5 R32. Additionally, the MK6 offers a wider range of infotainment features, making for a more connected driving experience. Affordability and Tuning: The MK6 GTI is generally more affordable than the MK5 R32, both in terms of initial purchase price and ongoing maintenance. Furthermore, the turbocharged engine of the GTI offers a wealth of potential for performance modifications, allowing enthusiasts to unlock even more power and personalize their driving experience. A Matter of Preference: It's important to acknowledge that the R32 isn't without its merits. All-wheel drive provides superior handling in adverse weather conditions, and the VR6's unique sound remains a beloved characteristic. However, for most drivers, the MK6 GTI's combination of practicality, performance, and affordability make it the more well-rounded choice. Ultimately, the decision comes down to individual priorities. Those seeking a thrilling soundtrack and all-weather grip might lean towards the R32. However, for drivers who value a balance of performance, fuel efficiency, modern features, and affordability, the MK6 GTI emerges as the more compelling option.

I had an 09 Rabbit that ended up having to have that body control module teplaced as well. It took the shop a long time to figure it out. I don't remember what the initial problem was, but it was nothing that would make you suspect that module. Luckily the shop had some donor junk cars behind the shop to pull replacement modules from to try.
Bad BCM caused my keyfob to not register in my MK6 R, It took VW 3 months to fix.
You got burned on this job when you selected the “Paul Install” on shop DAP 😂
Self own
Quite a transformation! I think I would have just painted it white, then added the color as vinyl
You Guys need to have a DAS shirt that says "Riding With The Angels" once you make them? Let me know I will be first in line to buy one👍
Man I really hope to fix up my R32 some day lol I daily it but it needs some body work and timing chains soon. Plus some other small things. Well done exercising those demons in that MK5 Paul!
I love that it was wrapped before it was actually fixed. I feel like that is the most relatable car enthusiast thing of this whole series. Oh and all the anger and cussing.
Modify before you fix🤷🏽♂️😂😂
The Modest GTI Takes the Crown: Why the MK6 GTI Edges Out the MK5 R32
While the MK5 R32 holds a legendary status among Volkswagen enthusiasts, the unassuming MK6 GTI offers a compelling counterpoint.
Damn, Paul, that's one good looking turd. Props to Wrap Guys out there doing good work.
