Couldn't have said it better. Hands down the best videos I've ever seen! Completely unbiased, a very humble guy whose motive is clearly to learn and help others learn. I love how every idea is tested rather than just theorized. From my experiences, even when youve done all the research in the world and considered all the influencing factors and the expected result appears to be black and white, the ACTUAL RESULTS can surprise. This guy's methods and experiments definitively answer so many things I've often wondered.

I used the Saber mix in my 2001 GMC Sierra as recommended by a local mechanic one ounce to 5 gallons and it gummed up my throttle body. My gas pedal eventually jammed and I had to have the throttle body professionally cleaned. Regular AmsOIl is the best for the engine but not as a fuel additive. For that I do use AmsOIl PI.

@@ProjectFarm I went to school at Lincoln Tech (now called Lincoln College of Technology) and one of our fuels teachers told us, to get rid of carbon deposits, just give the engine a drink of water.
Get a garden hose and let it drip into the intake at an idle for a while. I imagine with a lawn mower engine you might want to mist it with a spray bottle. But the water droplets in the cylinder will help knock carbon deposits loose and clean things up.
As sure as I mention this, someone will try it, flood their engine, hydrolock it and bend the connecting rods, crack a piston or cylinder head, wash the rings out and fill the crank case with water.

I think your soaking method helps a lot. It’s not so easy on some engines - But “filling” and hand-barring the engine around would probably be a good idea (warning: Risk of hydrolocking your engine). This is the method I use to store engines with fogging oil. Love your videos.

To the question seafoam from your tests and my running home experiments. I found seafoam to be the best to revive and maintain engines. In the oil once in a while, in the gas once a year. 5 cars of various ages, 15 small motors of various ages and conditions and 4 medium sized engines. I even revived a dead lawnmower for my neighbor using seafoam. It’s not the only product I use but it is at the top of the list. Thank You! Keep testing.

Thanks for another great video 👍. I have 3 vehicles and I have used the sea foam spray to decarbonize the values and pistons on two. One's a 99 Ford ranger with 272k on it. And the other is a 08 Chevy truck with about 125k. Both had great results. Not a big smoke show, however the ranger did have a couple of big "farts" . The third vehicle is a 15 beetle. I used the CRC di & turbo cleaner. It has about 46k. Still no big smoke show. Per instructions for both, I let them soak. Then the best part was the driving like you stole it for about 10 minutes. All three ran better than before the cleaning. But my beetle seemed to benefit the most. I do not have a scoop by the plug I pulled did look a little better. Thanks for that video 💪💯

The search function on your channel searches far beyond your channel and makes that process really inefficient.

I cut and maintain five (5) properties of friends and family. At the beginning of the season I mix a 25 gallon fuel caddy with BP Ultra, two (2) cans of Seafoam and double the recommended amount of Startron. Based on your research here, I started using the Seafoam and have had MUCH better performance results out of all my small engines, enabling me to stagger full tune-ups on a 2 - 3 year cycle to keep the cost down.
    1. I found the BP Ultra (93 octane) helps prevent knocking in the higher revving, hotter running 2-cycle engines and it is a much cleaner fuel; better filtered fuel from the start.
    2. Based on your research here and seeing your results, I now use Seafoam exclusively in both my small engines and my car. All my engines are running smother and more efficient. As for my 2005 Chevy Colorado that is 223,000+ miles, it has some of the best gas mileage and power it has ever had.
    3. The Startron helps stabilize the fuel to prevent the added 10% ethanol from absorbing moisture out of the air. Ultimately, it is that moisture absorption that hurts the small engines. I do not know if Startron has any 'cleaning' properties and would love to see a video on it.
    Thank You

We do the same as you. We add an ounce or two of Seafoam per gal and an once of Startron. Seems to keep the small engines clean and happy. They always start on the first pull. I especially like it in the winter when I don't need to choke the snowblowers.
I'm a bit confused on your post. Have you stopped using Startron all together and 100% Seafoam?

Great video. I personally would not worry about varnish build-up in the carb's float bowl as long as nothing is loose or flaking off in there. Usually, water and dirt are in the bowl, and they are definitely problems. I worked for Sears back in the day fixing mowers and other lawn equipment, so I have seen my share of small engines. I love the clear cylinder head footage that you included. I have to show that to my science-teacher wife for her class. The artsy slomo shots of the fuel bouncing around in the clear tank, and the smoke around the muffler, were a hoot! --Old Guy.
