Good review thanks. I love my ‘23 Premium. Got it new for $31K w/ options & accessories. Great value and left plenty leftover for key upgrades (catback exhaust, Cobb AP w/ custom tune, oil catch canister, EBC brake pads and fluid, shifter upgrades, speaker upgrades and powered subwoofer, spoiler, STI trans & diff & motor mounts, UHP All-season tires, mud flaps, etc). The upgrades significantly improve the feel, performance and useability to a high level for this price segment.
No, that would’ve been an unheard of deal! Mine is basic Premium w/ Option Package 11 (auto dimming rear view and side mirrors, floor liners and cargo tray) and a few small dealer installed accessories. I didn’t want sunroof as I never use it on vehicles I’ve had. Just extra weight and expense. Total MSRP was $36K. I paid $31K plus 3% NC tax and title fee.
i was offered $38k otd for a 24 wrx limited. not sure if i should pull the trigger. was mainly gearing towards a gr corolla or golf gti. but damn what they offered me seemed like a good deal lol
As long as you’re getting at least 10-12% absolute minimum off MSRP or $4000-$5000. WRX sales have slowed significantly this calendar year. I easily got $5000 off my Premium in March. Wish I would have pushed for $6000 off.
@@Gergm7991 what speakers did you end up getting? Practically got the same offer you got for the same specs. I can get $5k off the limited but might just be better off doing what you did. extra money for upgrades
Thank you for these stock updates. I plan to buy one for a daily. As a 38 year old family man, I need something fun, but capable of hauling the family around in safely
I take the whole family, with dog, to track days. We can all drive out, I ride hard on track, then cruise back. Daily commute of 70miles. Highly recommend as a family/fun car
I’ve watched your videos here and there but haven’t seen one in a long time. You are definitely improving with your content/presentation as a whole. Appreciate the insights on driving manual as daily. I’m currently taking manual lessons been a dream of mine to learn so I’m constantly on the look out for this type of information when I’m researching.
I got my 22 VB Premium w/HK & Sun Roof for $31K before taxes & fees. Great bargain for what it offers, AWD, turbo, 6spd manual, 4 doors w/big trunk. Super fun car to drive and doesn’t break the bank!
I love my Recaro seats on the 22 GT. Just love the car and I have 32k miles almost. Car drives just like new. Only issue I have is the car's computers.
I’ve put 11,500 on my ‘24 TR in 3 months. Going on my second oil change (I’m doing them every 5k) with HKS oil and loving it. Been to two track days and will be switching brake pads before going out to track again.
i was actually looking to get this or a golf gti? what would you overall recommend, mainly geared towards a car that will excel in backroad driving occasionally. don’t care for straight line speed. it would still be a daily and still prefer manual. mostly will do highway miles traveling and i don’t live in an big city, or at least not one with a lot of traffic oh and I was offered $39k otd for 24 wrx limited
For what it is meant to be and at that price point, it is still a very solid choice, if you consider ALL the R&D and evolution of the flat 4 and AWD, for so so many years!!! That is important. Where other manufacturers often try to pop out something brand new to temp you and also often front wheel drive, Subaru has kept it consistent and improve slowly in increments that give you something you can rely on for a proven experience in all weather.
I've got 35,00km (21,000m) on my 2022 WRX. My only mod is Hawk street pads and Motul 600 brake fluid. $500 fixes the only downside of this car. I don't care about the infotainment because Carplay/Android fixes what I use daily. The stock tires are crap, but luckily they don't last long. I did a track day last summer and expected to build a list of modifications from the experience. Sway bars.. coil overs... more horsepower... Nope. I dialed out oversteer with tire pressure only and was completely happy with the performance. I love this car... period. I'm keeping it forever.
I agree 100% with it not being the best daily driver. I use to have an 18 STI and hated driving it downtown everyday but it was really enjoyable on the back roads.
People are really gravitating towards the VB. I get asked about my 24 often at random fill ups. Getting a JB4 on it was a game changer though. Acceleration is solid and torque stays flat from 2k rpm onwards. My only gripe are the brakes for DD, they work just fine. If you are solely judging the car for its braking ability get a TR or the upcoming TS. Premium with the sun and sound package was my spec along with the short throw shifter, and vortex generator. I truly love this car and would suggest to anyone curious to go test drive one. You might just drive it home.
Get the 2023 base. It is 200 lbs or more lighter than the other models. Be a real enthusiast and not rely on tech and comfort so much. Weight is a sports sedan’s enemy. This is still a market of one
Same color as my 24 premium. Perrin intake, Cobb titanium catback, jdmuscle uel header and DMANN pro tune. It’s a completely different car from stock power wise, crazy fun. 15k on the tune with no issues.
I’ve owned a ‘22 Limited since new and I’m starting to get REALLY bored by it. I became a fan of the AWD system when I lived in Wisconsin and Alaska, but where I live now, it hardly snows. I haven’t modified it other than putting OEM accessories, but I don’t want to change everything (more hp, clutch, better engine sound). A Type R or Golf R have been calling my name
I had purchased a 2016 WRX manual back in 2018 & after two weeks i hated it, (1) didn't have enough power & the manual was too much work. There's a 2017 BMW M4 in Lynwood, WA (I live in Oregon) featured on Truecars for $41,995 with 47,060 miles (white)...Looks really good!
Dude, the base WRX weight is literally the same as the '05 STI. Also, the fa24f is the super engine to the ej257. Check out MotoIQ for a breakdown of the differences and upgrades. You are correct about the ugly looks though 😆!
It's not. But, the shifter is easily modifiable in the WRX. Hopefully your SI doesnt give you oil dilation or head gasket issues. You'll also need K Tuner so eliminate the horrible stock rev hang as well
The stock shifter is fine. Also, I had a new '18 SI that developed SEVERE oil dilution at 77k, Honda wouldn't help us and my brother-in-law had a new '17 SI that blew a motor at 62k. They were both stock and well-maintained. That L15b7 is garbage!
I have 15k miles on mine. Absolutely love the car.
NOT
Nice I got about 13k and about 3k in cosmetic mods love it

Was that the premium with the Sunroof and Harmon Kardon sound system?

Good fun car,,,I’m 67. I have a 22 ,,,love driving it with 6speed ,,,,have other cars also ,,so it’s my toy

Nice honest review Mike! Mustang? Interesting!

This. The base is an insane value. I got a 24 for 31k. For a sedan I don’t think you can do any better for performance
Someone reviewing a 2024 WRX premium said if you own a 2023 WRX premium, you can upgrade to wireless carplay. Is this true?
it looks good in orange.
Underrated color for sure and kind of rare. There's not too many Solar Orange WRX's on the road right now.
horrible looking car

hit 30k on m 22 and love it

Mustang ecoboost high performance pack makes much more power than all of these cars and came out like 6 years ago
I love my 2019 STI.
me too
Glad I got the gr86 over the wrx. Wrx was super underwhelming when I drove it.
Got 20.000 on 2022 sold daily
Had 16k on a 2022 in 11 months then crashed it got a 2024 6 months ago got 8500 in that time.
I had purchased a 2016 WRX manual back in 2018 & after two weeks i hated it, (1) didn't have enough power & the manual was too much work.

I daily my 05 STI newer WRX is so ugly and heavy idk how people be spending so much on em

@chrish8487 the new WRX dose weigh a few hundred pounds more tho
@JensScearcy According to Edmunds, the '22 base model WRX is 3,297 and an '05 STI weighs 3,298. Check it out yourself.
The shifter is horrible that’s why got the si
But the clutch and rev hang on the Civic is horrible.
“Horrible” - care to explain or just criticize?
It's not. But, the shifter is easily modifiable in the WRX. Hopefully your SI doesnt give you oil dilation or head gasket issues. You'll also need K Tuner so eliminate the horrible stock rev hang as well
Horrible? I've driven manual my entire life and don't have that feeling about it; what is it that you dislike so much?

brakes are average, can't use at the track
Luckily, a lot of owners don't track their cars
Brakes are pretty garbage imo lol. My '24 scared me how hard I need to push down to actually slow down lol
@@isaacchavez1425 how fast are you driving? I know a few owners and have never heard that before.
Yes you can and some owners have. Upgraded pads and brake fluid go a long way
@@diallo1347 I have one and agree with you. I drive it "quick" at times and have never felt that the brakes were lacking
Pros: it has AWD
Cons : years later it's still ugly AF
Still world's slower than any version of a Mustang and uglier
There helped you guys
That is one ugly car.
its a waste
What is? Care to explain, or waste our time with your “comment”?
If you're poor, sure 😅
Wow. How insightful.....
