Woodturning : In this half burnt cedar log lies a treasure😳

- I find a damaged and half-burnt cedar log and decide to run it through a wood lathe to see what's inside.
Well the saying is true! you should never trust appearances!
This log had a nice surprise in store..
To protect and enhance it, I apply a layer of Tung oil.
This wood turning project is not recommended for beginners because it requires knowledge of working with a wood lathe, particularly when there is a lot of unbalance.
It is in my carpentry workshop, in a relaxing and relaxed atmosphere without words or music with ambient and natural asmr-type noises that I film some of my creations in order to share my ideas with you.
Happy viewing!

Do not duplicate what I do because it could be very dangerous.
Bon visionnage !

I am impressed by the power of life that is visible in the bowl, this tree has survived and seen a lot, was injured. Everything becomes visible and finally leads to beauty. Thank you for daring to do this. Monika,Roma,Italy
Thank you very much Monika❤️❤️❤️

It's such fun when you allow us to join you on a voyage of discovery and from discarded trash you coax a piece of art. Brilliant.

Hi Jack

😉thank you Tina 🧡

Merci beaucoup John😉
Stunning piece of art! I loved it! ❤
Thank you Andrea❤️
Was it Michelangelo who said he was simply removing the pieces of stone which were not the statue? Seems like another artist whose name starts with an "M" could be doing the same thing, but with wood. Fantastic earthy piece. Like others who have commented before me, I very much enjoyed watching you work solely in wood this time around. I'm grateful that you share these projects with us. Best wishes - Vee

Thank you so much for your comment I’m very happy that you appreciate my work ❤️❤️
Magnifique surprise !❤
Merci Terri😊🧡
This showed the skill you have and finesse to turn that log into a lovely bowl without it flying apart and ending up on your shop floor. 👏👏❤
Thank you Lynn❤️
I'm happy because this log was going to be shredded to end up as floor mulch because it wasn't even good for fire... today it sits proudly in the middle of a living room😊
@@bawbreizhartwood Glad to hear it has a good home.
@@bawbreizhartwood This is a turning disaster I saw. This guy is relatively new to wood turning. th-cam.com/video/yVCIqHxvXoo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fljXdYQIIB5Qo4_r
Watching your videos over the years this is hands down the best. There are a few to compete with this but from reading the description to the start of the video I was already excited. Firstly the smells in your wood shop must have been AMAZING! Then the organic way the wood led you was awesome to watch. Your delicate touch as you formed the bottom of the vessel was… cool. The finished product is beyond words to describe. Thank you for sharing this beautiful work of art.
Thank you very much. Enaid😉
Yes, I also enjoyed turning this piece on a wood lathe and seeing the evolution by letting myself be guided by the grain 😊I am very happy that you like my work on this bowl👍
I see your at your best again! John
thank you so much Jean 😉
Fantastic piece. My first impression was that of a child size space helmet, because of the visor shape in the wood. It is an amazing piece of art, which cheered me up on a dull and grey day. Thank you Morgan, for sharing your skill and art. Regards to you and family 👍
Hello The Pagan
Thank you for your comment 👍
actually I hadn't seen the space helmet... 🤔
showing that sharing is important to have a different angle of view.
I wish you courage😊
J’ai vu vos œuvres sur Etsy ! 👍Elles sont magnifiques ❤❤❤, j’adore !
Merci
Merci beaucoup 😊
I enjoyed watching you turn that piece of wood. Sorta waited and thought you’d fill some of the voids with resin!
Thank you so much for your comment Jean🌸
As much as I appreciate your epoxy and segmented work, it's nice to see you go Old School with just a chunk of wood. Nice piece.
Thank you very much Canadan😉👍👍
Incredible beauty!
Susan😊

Amazing! I love it.
Thank you so much Susan 💚
Cedar has some beautiful graining and color that people forget about because it’s not ‘exotic’. Very beautiful piece, a hidden gem!! 😊❤
Racheal
yes that's right, you have to know how to appreciate and highlight wood in general whatever the species😉👍
Très belle pièce ! Un tournage qui n’a pas du être facile .. Mais le résultat est vraiment beau 😍
Merci . 👍👏👏
Lily
Merci pour ton commentaire ❤️❤️
I love timber pieces that are very organic in their shape. A piece like this gives me the impression that it refused to be tamed 😂
Deb
Thank you very much 😊

Très jolie pièce. Vous avez eu de la chance que la partie supérieure ne se sépare pas. C'.C'est bien aussi sans résine 😉 Bravo et merci
Merci Serge😉
Oui la partie supérieur était bien adherante👍
Another beautiful creation. Love all the markings in the wood. Truly a unique piece.
Thank you Possum I’m glad you like it😉

Thank you so much for your comment 😉
Nice sir
Thank you cookies😉👍
Another beautiful piece. In form, is it technically a jar?
Thanks Craig 😉👍 yes you can say it's a jar
Nice job! When you hollow a vessel, do you normally run the lathe in reverse? Thanks.
Stevevery good observation 😉
no I turn in reverse for ergonomic reasons or to obtain an even cleaner cut it is possible to alternate the directions of rotation
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Merci Valerie💚
Beautiful piece. Curious how you removed the tenon?
Thanks Eric
it was a mortise🤔
🖐🏻😉👍🏻🎉
merci 😉
Uumm!
😉
As per my view suppose you mixed it resin on this piece, so maybe that looks will be much better than this natural look.
Otherwise you're making a beautiful piece.
I definitely didn't want to put resin on this piece because I wanted it to retain its natural grain😉
@@bawbreizhartwood i agree with you.
