  • I built this DIY Folding Sawbuck to save me time cutting logs for firewood, as well as take tension off my lower back. A folding sawbuck is an easy build you can make out of construction grade lumber with only a few pieces. Don't go too crazy building your folding sawbuck, as it is meant to get knocked around while in use. Basically your folding sawbuck it going to get cut, dented and thrown around, so this is a build were function over beauty is preferred. Enjoy the video, and go cut some firewood!

Dude he burned the whole bar with this chain .. he was probably sticking the chain in the dirt before the sawhorse hahahaha 😂😂 no wonder he needs to save time

Excellent design. I was thinking of something to hold small branches that fall off my oak trees so I can cut them with a sawzall to stuff into a smokeless fire pit. I too thought along a sawhorse approach. Well, maybe the sawzall is the wrong tool? I dread starting up my Stihl MS250 for branches.

Nice design. Perhaps it would be good to place two longitudinal beams to the upper instead of the lower ends of crossed beams, so it could be used to keep shorter wood from falling out? Does it make sense?

So I have a bunch of cut wood that's too long to fit in my wood stove. I need them to be 16" max. Can I build this sawbuck with just 2 sections, rather than 3, just enough for me to trim a few inches off some pieces, or would that be unstable?

That really depends on how long the logs you are cutting are. If you are just trimming a few inches off it shouldn't be a problem if you are cutting past the sawbuck and not the inside. Just don't force the cut and don't be afraid to add more support braces to prevent racking.
If it is a long log you are cutting then it will need to be longer. Good luck!
