I really don't think you or any high ranking player understand how much a menace Zarya is at the metal ranks and QP. If they don't coordinate against you, you're just a terminator gaining strength as you get close to your target to delete them. I like Zarya but that nerf was for the little guys.
It really is a problem. There needs to be a "stop shooting her bubble" voice line added to the callouts list

On the other hand my experience has been that a ton of Zaryas think they're the terminator, get way too little kills while getting no tank value thus leaving everyone to die and nobody backing them up, then blames team. Either way, this nerf will temper Zarya to actually try to tank more which is great

Call me crazy, but as someone who works with musicians for one of my jobs, I thought of something about last patch, and this kinda confirms it. Those of you who've played an instrument can probably understand where I'm coming from.
Ever tried tuning your saxophone or trumpet or flute with a tuner and no matter what, you can't get it just right? It's flat, so you push in a little bit, but no matter if it was barely a nudge, all of a sudden you're sharp, so you try to pull out a fraction, only go to back to where you are. So, in frustration, you just pull all the way out, go flat as hell and WAY out of tune, and you just tune up from there. I think guitars and violins do this too, if I recall correctly.
Maybe that's what the dev team is doing? Clearly micro-buffs and micro-nerfs weren't working to balance the game so why not just absolutely go bazonga on the biggest issue (ie: tanks), break it completely, make it completely out of tune, and then just go from there to try to tune it properly. It's sure better than another season (two months, two or more patches) of rolling out a bunch of micro-adjustments that we've been doing over and over and over and over since Season 9 *and going practically nowhere*. After all, the definition of insanity is...(?)

@@RaidenKunii It really is. In OW1 S2 (or S3, I forget) when Ana was released, she was so busted that she broke the game. Imagine giving a Lucio speed buff to whoever you nano boosted. Nano Rein was terrifying as hell. They had to do a bunch of nerfs to prevent the game from being so busted. (EDIT: This whole issue with giving speed is why I'm actually afraid of Space Ranger's release. I'm hoping they learned their lesson from that fiasco.)
So, when they released Sombra next, they made her completely underwhelming... and since nobody wanted to play a weak throw pick, Blizz got absolutely no data on her, what needed to be fixed, what were potential pain points, etc. It was impossible to balance her, because they had absolutely no idea where to begin and community feedback was basically "throw pick, lol". She had to get a complete rework in, I think Season 8 (of OW1) to bust her enough to even make her viable and hopefully get some data there. (I was salty over that, being an OG Sombra main playing with a Tracer and Winston friend who abused my healthpacks and gave me ult charge. Good ol' days...)
Pretty much every hero release I can think of (except for Lifeweaver) has been completely overtuned for that very reason. It really is easier to fix something when it's busted to the point of absurdity.
@@RaidenKuniimuch easier tye difference between nerfing mauga and buffing Life weaver are pretty apparent he was cracked on release then got nerfed down to a decent spot but life weaver took them like 6 seasons to make him work before he was at least decent but he still ain't that great 😂

The devs need to just completely overhaul mauga almost, adjust the power in his guns and rework cardiac, his rush is fine
I think the rest of his kit is fine but there's physically no number tweaks they could do to get cardiac to be perfect as is it's gotta change if they wanna do anything notable with it if not it's always just gonna be either broken or trash
Fundamentally, an ability that instantly gives you and your entire team a percentage damage reduction AND lifesteal at the press of a normal cooldown is unbalancable. It will either not do enough to be significant or it will be too strong. There is no sweet spot.
So they see Mauga ripping tanks to shreds and never dying and say “yeah that’s fine” but those god damn Lucio players were having to much fun
Mauga is literally useless against sigma and dva because his overdrive is so short now the whole duration can be blocked by so many things lol

His uptime was reduced by almost half. Hiding or disengaging when he Cardiacs turns him into a sitting duck for 12 whole seconds. He’s been so nerfed.

As a support main, the past 3 days have been shit to say the least. I haven't won a single game till today.
The Illari nerf is kinda bad, cause it doesn't fix the problem of a well-placed pylon basically being free value with no counterplay and 100% uptime

The mauga buff was more of a power shift and it’s made him easier to play around. The Ram nerf was needed because he couldn’t be killed.

We all know how to counter play, but 100% leeching is insane for a character with Mauga's damage output. This is absolutely unhealthy for the game and will likely have consequences in the future.

This video tells me flats never plays lucio. This basically puts it back to the pre patch boop on tanks which means literally no boop at all. So frustrating to perfectly execute a speed into a boop on a tank that’s wildly out of position and should be boop-able only to have them float like 3ft. So scummy
And yet Flat's ignored Pharah's boop getting buffed, is it okay for her to boop tanks but not Lucio??
All I care about is that extra lockout time. I'm not really trying to displace tanks. What used to piss me off is when a soldier (or any character without movement abilities) could use the air control to get back to land after being booped off a cliff.

Tank passive reducing boops was lowered in the patch before this hotfix, which meant Lucio boop was STRONGER and they brought it back to where it was.

Yesterday I was casually dropping 30+ elem games with less than 10 death on ramatra, this is coming from a bronze player who is used to dieing 17 time a game minimum. But the crazy thing is that it wasn't just yesterday I've kept it up. I don't know what this means for the future but I'm hopeing to climb the ranks with ramatra.

10% reduced knockback is not equal to a 10% soundwave nerf, thats not how numbers work....... 8M knockback - 50% = 4M knockback / 7.2 knockback - 40% = 4.32. Great, tanks move more, BUT you are booping DPS and Supports nearly a meter less. How is that ok? Why is Lucio paying the price for a passive change?
You’re right but you’re wrong, Overwatch calculates percentages with a set scale, so instead of reducing the existing number by 10% which is a massive nerf, they’re reducing 10% on the overall 0-100% scale they have for booping across the entire game

OW2 is a trainwreck. That's what they mean. HoTS died, and so will OW2 unless they make more drastic changes like 6v6. They also need to FULLY replace the people making balance changes. Making changes purely based on winrates is absolutely moronic. I bought so many lootboxes for me AND my friends because I loved OW1, but I have only bought 1 battlepass for OW2. I ain't goin' down with this ship.

just a lil reminder that pharah actually has 65% winrate from diamond to gm its NOT a health problem its a we cant shot or kill her problem ( 65% for any competitive game is abysmally high )
This nerf is significant because I can't count the amount of times I've shot at a Pharah and she survived with 1 bar of hp left. Also Hanzo can one shot which is good

The Zarya nerf isnt too significant. She was buffed from 2.0 to 2.5 and then nerfed down to 2.25 meaning she still ended up with a 12.5% buff.

Still waiting to hear from the devs about the big ban/suspension rollouts they were planning to deal with xim adapter cheaters on console. Seems like it's been a lot of radio silence on that front, but supposedly it was going to be this season, right?
They’re just so lost man, if you’re gonna nerf the CD on Zarya’s bubbles why even buff their HP in the first place, what was achieved between these two patches other than making the ability less flexible for the Zarya player but more annoying for the enemies when you’re actually trying to break her bubbles. It just removes strategy from both teams.
Least Obvious low rank player, Do you not know the meaning give and take? They nerf cooldown and buff hp, why would just nerf/buff hp/cooldown and not give anything in return. This patch made zarya very good whether your good or bad, so nerfing cooldowns adds more cooldown management. your complaining just to complain without even making a cohesive argument as to why its bad.

I think it would be fun if they experimented with zarya where they try one patch where bubbling others provides more value less than personal, see how it plays out, then try the opposite mid season to see if one or either would be good for her

How? Literally how lol. Even hiding it in the best spots doesn’t stop it from being an immobile healer. Just flank the enemy team lmao. As Illari you have to constantly move your pylon to behind your team because it’s an easy to spot easy to kill stationary healer.

The problem with ramattra is his 75% damage reduction on top of having buffed armor and a nerfed DPS passive.
Change his reduction to 60% or 50%.

Sadly fun doesnt equal balanced, thats why in games like fortnite casuals and pro are always fighting with eachother and all the fun gets nerfed so it gets balanced in the competitive scene

@@leedunkin3338 well funny enough my main tanks are actually ram and zarya. So maybe my bias is skewed. my win rates on those two were around 70 but I completely agree that they needed to be nerfed…They were absolutely insane…
But I found that sig dva Rein muaga and Winston are very playable too and overall I feel like counters swapping isn’t too bad. I think the tanks that are falling behind just very good in the meta right now
Overall, I think this is really good patch at first I was definitely skeptical though
I will not give the devs any credit for anything. They made this mess, they get to clean it up -and they aren't finished yet.

I think it’s just a bandaid on a broken skull. The damage is already done, the devs have shown their hand with the original patch and said “this is the vision we believe in”.
The correction hotfix has not come from a realization that their patch wasn’t the right direction. It has only come because of the immense backlash. Had there not been an uproar, they would not have patched it, ergo they don’t actually see the issue, they only see the resulting chaos caused by the issue.
I have said this a thousand times. The devs only know how to treat symptoms, they have zero clue how to actually address the core issues that are causing the symptoms in the first place.
This hotfix and their statement about it actually just makes me even more mad. They didn’t listen to the responses from the community, they only saw that the response was negative and reeled back a bit to appease the masses. Putting out the fire after you already let the building burn to the ground. Congratulations, you saved absolutely jack all. We are just left with the ashes of what we formerly used to call our home.
Alternative way to address the root cause:
1. Revert to 6v6 and scale back health pools by 30-40% depending on hero.
2. Minimize CC effectiveness, and homogenize ability cooldowns more as compensation (no crazy 14+ second utility).
3. Keep main crowd control focus on tanks, and limit overlapping sustain abilities (such as not having fortify + javelin on one hero, or shield + grasp, etc).
4. Scale back damage overall, especially on DPS that have been power crept.
5. Rework all hard immo abilities (like Lamp, Suzu) to be damage% mitigation based, not damage denial based.
6. Rework hard anti-heal abilities (like Nade, Rampage) to be healing% mitigation based, not healing denial based.
7. Rework abilities that have unhealthy approaches to counterplay (like perma Invis, LW Grip, etc) to be more directly communicated and have methods to play around in a more intuitive and naturally flowing manner (aka they shouldn’t hard interrupt the natural flow of the game).
8. Rework old 2CP maps into Hybrid assault maps, get that rose tinted nostalgia rolling agian.
9. Make a guild system built into the game UI itself, where people and groups can form teams and rosters and arrange/search for scrims and coaching, so the path between [casual - invested - pro] has more nuance and isn’t a hard wall.
10. Remove all role passives, and make passives individual hero-based, not role based.
And most importantly, actually act like you want this game to succeed and be the best it can be.

Just had a quick match game as junkerqueen and fought a Mauga and the Mf couldn’t die it was horrible but thankfully we won

no? Ask any lucio player. All of them will tell you how bad the knockback is. We literally only use it for combos. 4S cooldown for a 45 dmg + meele is a good combo. but thats not what we want. We wanna be able to BOOP people of the map that are super close to the edge almost begging to get booped. BUT WE CANT. THEY GO NOWHERE. AND 90% OF THE HEROS JUST COME BACK WITH MOBILITY. I understand knockback on heros like reinhardt. It almost felt ilegal how you were able to deny rein value by just brig whip shot or lucio boop him. But there are aton of Heros that DONT need boop reductions

For context on how busted mauga is rn:
I went sombra because my teammate was only hacking the tank for some mf reason before they swapped to reaper. Killed the mercy and ana, mauga ulted. It was a 1v5. I hacked and hit him with the rubix cube of doom, rein was swimging his hammer, reaper popped his ult killing the ashe and soldier, and our healers were trying to keep everyone up(lucio and lifeweaver). This mf was near death then popped his cardiac overdrive. I watched dumbfounded as he recovered most of his hp in just seconds then he lit us up. The mauga won a mf 1v5 and we lost the game last minute a few inches from the goal point. I was pissed when the mauga spammed ez in the chat.
Edit: Damn, we got the big brains in the comments saying the exact crap I said I did in my comment. Truly a skill issue that overwatch made mauga a monster to the point he ate a hack, rubix cube of doom, a fucking reaper ult, and a rein beating him with a hammer while our healers did their best to keep the juice coming.
