Exera80 I always think this when I see Matt live on stage. You notice a lot in older footage. First time I saw HOF was at a Dethklok show lol but I was infatuated with this shirtless dude shredding and looking so stoked to be where he was at doing what he was doing.
Love watching Matt live, because you can honestly tell he loves every moment he is on stage and really, really tell he appreciates anyone and everyone who show up to see his bands play.
Beel Zebub not everyone is a musician and wants to hear every technical aspect of the song. Some people just wanna let loose and act a fool. That’s why music is amazing. Don’t knock someone for enjoying themselves. Be happy that someone else enjoys the music you also love.
@Beel Zebub you're assuming these people aren't enjoying the music and are assholes. Sounds like you just enjoy complaining and need to lighten up. Also, when you're at a freaking metal show and getting pissy at drunk people letting loose, you're in the wrong place, my dude. Metal and drunkeness kinda go hand- in- hand. I would surprised if you went to see Metallica and James asked everyone to hold their applause till the end lol This isn't the local philharmonic, this is metal
That 9 string guitar is impressive. Completely unique. Grammy award winner. I saw him at the bar in Las Vegas at the Psycho festival and wanted to say hi but I had only downloaded his music from pirate bay so I felt a little guilty and didn't.
@@mastod0n1 I believe it was the top 3 three strings corded and the lower 3 not. I have always been told that corded strings don't mix well with distortion. I know that lower frequencies don't work so well with harmony, better with higher ones.
There are some bands that sound great in the studio and when you see them live you think "what the fuck happened?". These guys have mastered both studio and live performances. Absolutely awesome.
Almost 4 years later and I still watch this video all the time lol I could NEVER get sick of High on Fire, never. They are one of my all time favorite bands and Matt Pike is one of my biggest idols \m/
MrAlienautopsy I'm jealous. U got to hear way more music. I'm pretty old.44. Yo. Loved classic rock in my single digits. Big lil vh fan. 30 years ago. I fell in love with thrash. And all distorted guitar music. Before all the genres.of metal. Nothing got by me as a young dude. In my opinion. I don't get why people wouldn't be a fan of high on fire. Honestly. Idk if u like meshuggah. They grew on me at least 15 years ago. I ve been stuck on them Nordic guys. Since. Got lazy. And didn't explore that much.
Thanks for posting this. I'm just now getting into High on Fire and this video just solidifies the fact that these guys are for real, awesome live performance.
True story..I was baking bread and listening to this loud asf..the bread didn't rise, the heaviness of HOF settled it in its fukn place..I now use the loaf of bread as a boat anchor.
Matt Motherfuckin' Pike! Look at the shit eatin' grin on his face. He loves what he does. One of the coolest cats I've ever hung with for sure. "Let's have a fuckin beer." Yes Matt, let's do that!
And here all this time I thought Phil Anselmo was the most Metal dude I have ever seen.... Step aside Phillip, Matt Pike has molten goddamn lead running through his veins.... Metal to the core. \m/ H.O.F. slays. Period.
Davidson Hammershlagen I dunno about that man. Mad respect to Matt, but Philip H Anselmo is still a raging bad ass for being old as shit with a back that barely works
I have just recently gotten into these guys. I first heard them on liquid metal. I bought the new album and I can't take it out of the cd player. I love it front to back. This is my favorite song from the album and it was great to see it live. Thanks for posting it. Fantastic quality too.

i've been watching this video now for the 5th or 6th time. and its fucking awesome to see matt performing. if you go to work every day and sell shit to people which they don't really need then you realize: this guy does what he loves and we will never get near that fucking fantastic feeling matt gets when playing this killer intro! matt, may the metal gods be with you! you fucking rule!
Nothing on earth sounds better than Matt Pikes guitar riffing along to a punk beat by Des Kensel. The sound of the universe crushing your fucking skull into powder.
Probably D-Standard in Drop C. Mastodon does similar tunings. The 3 highest strings are doubled up like a twelve string, if that makes sense. But the lowest three are not.
Wow what a brutal performance. Matt looks young paying here, the comment about the stage presence was right on, he has it spades.
