*regbags* High quality and cheap! What's the use of a $10,000 designer bag that lasts 7 years, or a $200 designer bag that lasts 15 years?

My husband has a boss from Italy who's wife works for quality control. He told me Hermes, the most expensive bag in the world, gets their 'best artisans' from Bangladesh, China, India and Taiwan. He said the owners will go to these countries and look for workers who will work for 45 dollars per month. Literally Hermes gets it's artisans from third world countries. Then they will ship the products back to France and film a video about 'French makers' putting a label in the bag. Gucci leave their ships docking in China, the Chinese workers will make the Gucci bags there or at their factories. Then they will be shipped to Italy where the labels will be attached by Italian workers, so they can legally say the product was made in Italy. So Hermes is made by Bangladeshi workers and Gucci and Chanel are made by Chinese workers . Remember that when you think you're getting quality designer brands from Europe.

I saved up money for a few months to buy a ZP, but it got scratched on the third day. I cried so much, and then my boyfriend bought me a bag from *regbags* for me to carry alternately. Anyway, there are so many bags on the street, so as long as others can't see it, I think it's fine. The thought is there.

I only buy the highest-quality items, in natural-fiber fabrics and materials like genuine leather, for my wardrobe. But, I rarely need to pay designer prices to get them. Quality does have a ceiling; a beautifully-made, fully-fashioned*, high-quality cashmere sweater, for example, can be obtained at many brands for less than $400. But, buying a brand like Loro Piano or Bruno Cucinelli at ten times that price just doesn’t give ten times the quality. The extra money is for the status, snob appeal, which doesn’t interest me. (*knitted together seams, not cut and sewn ones, a mark of high-quality). Designers are even using those dirt-cheap synthetic fabrics like polyester now, which I won’t even buy at H&M prices.

Those designer outlet stores carry mostly (about 90%) made-for-the-outlet versions of their items in much lower quality. The remaining items are those regular items that are so ugly or weird that no one would buy them full-price, so they have to be deeply discounted. I’d be really careful shopping at those, most of their offerings are very cheaply made, “leather goods” might be plastic and “silk” items made in “silky” polyester. Of course, for those who just want a logo, they’re ok I suppose.

It’s not designer, but Chico’s makes clothing for their outlet stores that are nearly the same quality as their regular stores. I worked in both. I actually prefer the outlet because it’s less “high fashion” and trendy and more for normal people.

Handmade garments are for the extraordinarily wealthy. The rest is just Read-to-wear. Look for quality- do the plaids and stripes match at the seam? Is the fabric made of natural fibers? Manufacturers have these huge cutting machines. The higher quality brands only cut a few pieces at a time. Most cut 50 - 100. If the fabric is on the bottom, the cut won’t be “true.” You do pay for higher quality because it costs more to make a garment. If you want high quality leather, look for the marking that says “ genuine leather.” That doesn’t just mean that it’s real leather. It means that it is the top layer of the hide - the best quality. You are better off paying a dressmaker or tailor to custom make your clothes. Or learn to sew.

To be honest. If you produce at cost and remove the logo, the luxury market really isn't that expensive. The mark is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact that you are *amzclothes* buying an image and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing to do.

You can add Brooks Brothers to the list of brands that are luxury in name only. The brand’s former owner, Claudio del Vecchio, brought the brand back to and surpassing any predecessor with superior fabrics and construction. The current owner has cheapened the product to the point where, aside from the store’s atmosphere and some styling, the clothes resemble Old Navy product. I could show you pictures that easily demonstrate the point. So sad.

I'm not arguing with the statement in the video, but just want to mention I agree with your comment.
I rarely go to outlets anymore for that reason, because I'm suspicions of the quality/purpose of mediocre branded products coming in larger bulks - it doesn't look like regular unsold stock. Whether it is sneakers, shoes, trousers, suits... I can't confirm it, but I think it is either A: Left overs of cheaper bulk orders for certain industry sectors (hospitality, travel, office, merch shops, maybe even schools and military) or B: They are produced for local lover income markets with product designs often not present in the catalogues and online shops.

Look at his clothes, the ‘brands’ he has always worn….his tailors…..shoe makers…shirt makers, umbrella makers…et cetera. They all do bespoke and ready to wear, open for you all. The prices are roughly the same, sometimes cheaper than so called designer brands. That’s real old money wealth….. Think about it.

Especially when the bag costs more than the stuff you carrying in it 🤦‍♂ I mean a nice car I can understand because you can feel the difference when driving. Or a big tv with nice colors you can see the difference but a bag? What's the difference between a decent 100 dollar bag (which is already way too expensive for what is but for the sake of argument) or a 10000 dollar bag? Does the 10k bag feel better when you're holding it? does it last longer? I highly doubt it🤷‍♂
